Advanced Installation for System Administrators
This section is for the system administrator installing this update using a command line.
Running in Silent Mode
Open the command prompt as an administrator and run the following command:
<path to utility exe>\MapInfoProfessionalBingServicesUpdate.exe /s /vSILINST=True
Where:
/v = passes the parameter "SILINST=True" into the setup.exe to suppress the GUI.
/s = runs the setup.exe silently.
For example,
C:\temp\MapInfoProfessionalBingServicesUpdate.exe /s /v"SILINST=True"
"C:\temp folder\MapInfoProfessionalBingServicesUpdate.exe" /s /v"SILINST=True"
The quotes in the second example are required because the path contains a space (between the words temp and
folder).
Log Files
To check if the MapInfo Professional Bing Service Utility has successfully extended the Microsoft Bing Imagery
functionality, you need to see the following log file(s) that are created during the installation process. They are:
1. PBMSBingServices.log This log file will be created if basic Bing service is updated.
2. PBMSPBingServices.log This log file will be created if the Bing premium service is updated.
These log files are stored in the temp folder on your computer.
Windows 7/2008: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp
Bing Licensing Update Utility Release Notes 3
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp
If the install requirements are not met, neither of the log files are generated.
If the utility installs successfully, you will see the message, Your license file was activated successfully in the log
file.
Troubleshooting
If the Bing update utility finds an instance of MapInfo Professional or MapInfo Runtime 10.5.3 or 11.0.x that has a valid
license for extending access to the Bing Services, and it runs successfully, then the utility will not report any error
messages. However, if the utility did not update the access to Bing Services, then an error message displays for each
error found. The errors are recorded in the log file.
No MapInfo Professional or Runtime found
If you have a valid version of MapInfo Professional and/or Runtime 10.5.3 or 11.0.x installed and still get this error, re-
run this utility from the command prompt and specify the log file, and then contact customer support for assistance and
send them the log file. For example,
"C:\temp folder\MapInfoProfessionalBingServicesUpdate.exe" /v"/Lv* C:\temp\BingUtility.log"
Where BingUtility.log is the name of the log file.
Cannot find the executable file
The Bing update utility is unable to locate the file(s) Mapinfow.exe and/or Mapinfor.exe.
In such cases, re-run the utility from the command prompt to generate a log file, if it has not been already generated.
Contact customer support for assistance and send them the log file.

An error message will appear for every instance of MapInfo Professional and/or Runtime 10.5.x or 11.0.x that is
currently open when the utility is run. Close the specific program, and re-run the utility from the command prompt and
specify the log file to be created.
