Requirements
These requirements are written for Version 8.4.3 and above.

Special Vista Note: If you are using a Vista computer to host your database, you
may have slow connection problems. Vista Service Pack 1 may resolve some of
the slowness issues, and Microsoft continues to work on them. In the meantime,
if you need to use a Vista host, we will attempt to help you obtain the best speed
possible.
If you plan to use Vista, please let our sales department know before purchase or
download of our Free 30-day Trial for testing!

Requirements for PC Installation


Following are the minimum and recommended specs for running e-ADVANTAGE and
ADVANTAGE on a workstation or server:

Hardware Requirements
Processor Intel Pentium 4 – 1.8 GHz or faster OR AMD Athlon XP 2200+ or faster.
Note: Works on dual-processor MAC machines with Intel processor.

Ram 512 MB DDR – Win XP Pro w/SP2


2 GB DDR – Vista Business or Vista Ultimate

Hard Drive 10+ GB – with 1GB free space

Requirements for Terminal Services Installation

Following are the minimum and recommended specs for running e-ADVANTAGE and
ADVANTAGE on Microsoft Remote Desktop/Terminal Server.

Hardware Requirements – Server


Processor Single, Dual, Quad Intel Pentium 4 2.0 Ghz or Better.
1 GB for Windows 2000 or 2003 Server + 64MB for EACH workstation connecting.
Ram
Example: Server with 20 Stations. (64x20) + 1024 = 2304 MB Ram.
Hard Drive 20 GB+ HD with 5 GB Free
Video 8+MB Video Card
Modem Fax capable 56k +
Printer Any Windows compatible Ink or Laser printer

Software Requirements – Server

Broadband ‘Always On’ Connection required for e-Advanatage.
Internet T1, DSL, Cable – Terminal Server needs at least 256 kbps upload speed. Most non-
Connection business class DSL and Cable limit upload speeds to 64 to 128 kbps which will slow
down client performance.

The database and the web components must be installed on the same server computer.
A computer running Windows 2000 or 2003 and Terminal Services will make use of a multiple processor
system. Advantage will NOT make use of a multiple processor system.
The more ram you have on your server the better your workstations will perform. In the above example you
would most likely need to round up the 1792 to 2048 or (4) 512 MB chips.
Consult with Microsoft technical support or online documentation on how to install to work properly on
Terminal Services.

Requirements for SQL Server


This document is meant as a guide for those deciding on hardware for a server that
will run Microsoft SQL Server that will be serving as a SQL Database for

ADVANTAGE e-Advantage and ADVANTAGE. These specs are recommended as
SQL will run on very low-end machines, but Revised: 3/31/08 
at a cost of performance.
