EXECUTIVE
SUMMARY
PANDITRA NUSANTARA is a company that involved in green business, which
produces organic fertilizer in order to develop and increase the quality of
Indonesias agriculture sector in the future. This business was made by some
Prasetiya Mulya Business School students, which have similarity in the point of
view about Indonesian agriculture condition.

An example of our concern is about the decreasing quality of common agricultural
products like vegetables. The use of pesticide is so common among farmers in villages.
We knew that the high usage of pesticide could endanger humans health. Hence we see
there are many opportunities that could be developed in Indonesia to improve the
agricultural sector and one of them is by providing Organic Fertilizer.

PANDITRA NUSANTARA has the purpose of creating more prosperous life for rural
communities and also increasing their quality of life. Were also aware and trying to nd
the best way to educate the rural communities with appropriate knowledge for them
about agricultural in order to make the production process more effective and efcient.
We want to develop the human resources also, which is the local people, farmers and
housewives. Based on our research, the use of inorganic fertilizer in Indonesia destroyed
the soil structure. The older soil the harder the structure, and extremely, it cant be used
as the place to plant anything. Inorganic fertilizers also have effects on the output, which
contaminated the freshness and nutrients, thus gave bad impacts to health. We believe
that we will solve those issues by repairing soil structure and the quality of the output. It
could bring a better effect on the next generation of Indonesian.

COMPANY PROFILE
It was all started on February 2013, when we were just nished our one-month project in two
villages, Babakansari and Sukaluyu, Cianjur, West Java. We participated in a program called
Community Development, held by Prasetiya Mulya Business School. The idea of making a
kind of organic fertilizer came out after we live with the local people and got these insights:
most of them are farmers, theyre not well-educated, and they burnt waste a lot. The local
farmers mainly depending the income for the family from their farm. But seeing the condition of
the soil and the crops was a terrible experience. Moreover, they didnt realize that after using
inorganic fertilizers and pesticides the condition of soil was deteriorated.

During the live-in period, one of us already held a basic agricultural and home gardening
training once in each village. The participants were local housewives and we could see that
they were happily earned new knowledge about waste management and how it can be used
as the input in making organic fertilizer. Seeing a big opportunity to help more people, we
united our vision mission, created a business plan, started to do research, and implemented
what weve got at campus.

This business is mainly a social business, caused by the direct interaction with the target
consumers (local societies) and the aim of empowering them to be more productive. Were
giving more values. PANDITRA NUSANTARA also sees the condition of local resources
especially the natural ecosystem, which are worsening from time to time caused by the use of
tractor plowing instead of using buffaloes. Local farmers arent aware with this issue.

We are here to develop and improve the knowledge and skills of the farmers and
also giving back the best to our nature, which belongs to Indonesians.

OPERATION
MANAGEMENT
The image above illustrates the Input-Process-Output Process in Panditra Nusantara
Operation Process. Firstly, the input are the waste that came from household and farm
waste, which will be grouped based on their nutrient at the Waste Reception Center, that
located at each village.

Secondly, the process will be started by doing digestion process. The combination of input
will be inserted to the tank and will mixed up with activator. Thirdly, by using the bioactivator
such as compost bacteria, we enter the mixing process. The last one, therell be a reaction
between the bioactivator (fermentation process), which will create heat as its side result.

The result of this process is the liquid fertilizer (the main product), which is the liquid part of
the result. The other form (solid one) can also be used as another kind of fertilizer.
Furthermore, the Methane Gas, which the result of fermentation process will be put into a
storage and can be used to support the household, if it being distributed (side project in the
future).

I P O ANALYSIS
The image above represents the blueprint of Waste Reception Center, or called Pusat
Penampungan Limbah (PPL). The PPL will be located at each of our target village. This blueprint
dont illustrate the place as a factory (large scale production), but as an illlustration of home industry
scale.

8
Waste Reception Center Blueprint
The image above shows the blueprint of a fermentation tank. Inside this tank, the collected waste
will be processed with additional bioactivator, with the aim to produce the liquid fertilizer and the
methane gas. The tank will be maed of alumunium, which is the best material to be used and in
accordance with this process. The fermentation tank will be located in Sukaluyu only. In 2017
(long term plan) well add another fermentation tank to the place.

MARKETING
MANAGEMENT
Our market : FARMERS.

Our target market has to be educated. They have to pay attention to their health,
others health, and the environment. The geographical analysis is used in the steps of
selecting target area and target consumers. Sukaluyu and Babakansari villages are
selected as the two-rst places for us to execute the pilot project. These areas are
selected based on our previous knowledge and experience in communicating with
the local villagers. Another reason is our concern about their primary income source :
working as farmers. Farmers are not only about rice farmers, but also horticultural,
vegetables, poultry, and dairy farmers. In the beginning of the business, well be more
concern to farmers who grow food-crops.

The main concern is they arent concern about the current soil structure and their
crops quality. How would the soil condition be in the next 10 years? Really, a proper
education is urgently needed to open their eyes. Caring more about the environment
is an investment for a better future of the next generations.

DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY
29
! SHORT TERM !
The image below shows the short-term strategy plan of Panditra Nusantara. Here is the brief
explanation.

Month 1-3 :
On the rst year, well be focusing on our rst main target area, which is Sukaluyu Village, that located in
Cianjur district, West Java. On the rst three months, activities will be focused on educating the
farmers via educator team. Farmers will be educated about how to have effective and efcient ways in
production process, also about the advantages of using organic fertilizers. Well also do our rst
construction of WRC (Waste Reception Center) or PPL (Pusat Penampungan Limbah) at Sukaluyu
Village. Later on, each targeted village will have on WRC/PPL. At this period, well be also focused on
our prototype improvement, by producing samples for the market test.

Month 4-6 :
When farmers are ready enough with the education provided, well provide them our products as sample
to be tested by the target market.

Month 7-9 :
Well do our rst evaluation. The evaluation will emphasize critical things based on the result of
production process did by farmers. Farmers will have to compare the output by its growth and size and
evaluate the difference between using their previous fertilizer (urea) and the new one, which is PUMA.

Month 10-12 :
At this period, well do our nal evaluation. The nal evaluation will be focused on the effect on
production process and the psychological effect on our target market. If the market test achieve its goal,
were planning to release our product PUMA, and conducting research at another village nearby
Sukaluyu, which is Babakansari village. But, if this test project are failed, which mean not giving any
improvement, we decide to do more researches or cancelled the project if theres any insufcient fund.
DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY
30
! LONG TERM !
This is the following part of Short-term Strategy Plan. If we decide to continue the plan, here is the
explanation from the table below.

Month 13-18 :
Because the test works, we decide to hire some fresh graduates that come from Agriculture Faculty to join
as our employees or part time workers. They will be educated by our partner. The purpose of this activity
is to help the mentoring process. With the knowledge that has been transferred to our employees,
Panditra Nusantara can be independently run the trainings for farmers, without intervention from Educator
in the future. Because were focusing to develop Babakansari Village at this period, well continue the
project by conducting a construction of another Waste Reception Center at Babakansari Village.
Month 19-24 :
After doing research for many months, on month 21, we will continue our program into Babakansari
Village. In order to increase awareness from our consumers (Babakansari farmers), we plan to create 1
st

Panditra Award on month 24. This award is an appreciation for the successful farmers that are success
because theyre using our products.
Month 25-30 :
On month 26, well continue to conduct another research, with new target, a nearby village called
Sukamulya Village. This action will be continued on month 28, where we plan to construct the third Waste
Reception Center in Sukamulya.
Month 31-36 :
At this period, we decide to expand our target to Sukamulya, so it will be 3 villages in total. We also plan
to create our annual awards, 2
nd
Panditra Awards.
Month 37-42 :
On month 40, well do more researches to another village and conduct a construction of another waste
reception center after two-month research.
Month 43-48 :
On month 48, well continue our plan to create our annual awards, 3
rd
Panditra Awards.

SOCIAL MAPPING

A person with high power means he/she has a strong inuence
among local villagers. This thing will help PANDITRA NUSANTARA
in spreading the news about farmers training and fertilizers
promotion.
A person with low interest means he/she is not ambitious and
interested in gaining prots and benets for himself/herself.
Pak Iskandar is currently the Head of Sukaluyu Village. Hes a candidate for the next election. Pak
Iskandar is also the Head of Paguyuban Sukaluyu Chapter. He has high power because local
villagers trust and obey him but from our research for one month, hes denitely having the interest of
pursuing personal success.

Pak Asep is currently the Coordinator of RUKUN USAHA LELE. Firstly, he was the trusted person in
the village, but after several business activities related to Community Development program,
Surprisingly, he started to cheat on the other villagers to pursue his own interest. He made an illegal
cooperation with the middlemen which responsible for the sale of catsh (lele). Finally, he has low
power (isnt being trusted by local citizens) and has high interest.

Pak Zaenal is the President of PAGUYUBAN INTI, an organization in which Sukaluyu and
Babakansari share each others knowledge and networks while running their business. Hes a well-
educated man, he got his law degree in an university at Bandung. Pak Zaenal is a smart person with
honest heart. However, he has a high ambition in being a high-level trusted employee in the local
government ofce. Hence, he has high interest and high power.

Pak Irfan is the Secretary 1 of PAGUYUBAN INTI. He didnt have high inuence towards Sukaluyu
villagers, so he has low power. Moreover, he didnt have any kind of interest in developing village and
pursuing his personal interest, caused by he suffers lack of resources.

SOCIAL MAPPING
DIAGRAM
34
Pak Andi is the Coordinator of RUKUN USAHA MAKANAN, a means for all small-scale food
entrepreneurs in Sukaluyu. He has a keripik pisang business made by himself and his siblings. Pak
Andi has the spirit of making his buisness success. Unfortunately, he suffers illiteracy, which made
him easy to be defrauded or to be cheated by smarter people. Hence, hes not the person were
looking for,

The last one is Pak Iwan. Hes not involved directly in PAGUYUBAN INTI or any kind of RUKUN
USAHA, but he has large networkings inside and outside Sukaluyu. Most of the villagers trust
him much more than the head of the village, Pak Iskandar. Although he is not so interested in
developing the village through political ways, he is in favor in helping local farmers and
entrepreneurs to improve their quality of life. Hes the right person to chosen as our trusted
informant and ambassador because he has high power with low interest in achieving his own
success.

The next part is about the social mapping diagram of Babakansari village. With the same
analysis and research method, we can make a conclusion about the right person to be chosen
as the local ambassador or local buzzer. Generally, theres one little difference between the
attitude of Sukaluyu villagers and the Babakansari villagers. The societies of Babakansari are
tend to be more ambitious in getting their personal goals achieved and feel that its not a
problem to cheat on the others.

Pak Jalal is currently the Head of Babakansari Village. Hes not interested in being the next head of
village. Pak Jalal didnt involve in any organization (PAGUYUBAN INTI and RUKUN USAHA). He has
high power because local villagers trust and obey him but after several times talking and cooperating
with him while conducting activities at the village, he has a high interest in pursuing his own goals.

Pak Ganda was the previous Head of PAGUYUBAN INTI on 2012. He is the trusted by the local
villagers because he is very smart and critical. For years he has been a principal in several
elementary and junior high school in Sukaluyu sub-district. However, seeing the previous experience
in ruling PAGUYUBAN, we chose not to make him our local buzzer because sometimes he use his
power to get his interests achieved and he underestimated other people who are not well-educated
like him. Hes a person with high power but has high interest in achieving his own objectives.

Pak Suhaya is the Coordinator of RUKUN USAHA LELE Babakansari. The organization has been
established since February and throughout its journey, Pak Suhaya is claimed to be ignorance
towards the members. He has a high ambition in making high prots for his own. This thing
occurred when he was running his lele business and he made personal cooperation with the
middlemen, similar to Pak Asep in Sukaluyu. We can conclude that he has high interest and cant be
chosen as the local ambassador for PANDITRA NUSANTARA.

Pak Ujang is the Coordinator of RUKUN USAHA PERIKANAN NILA/MAS. He has low power which
give us conclusion that hes not the right person.

Pak Nandang is the Vice President of PAGUYUBAN INTI. He works as a school teacher everyday
and hes one of the trusted people in the village. Unfortunately, he has low power which give us
conclusion that hes not the right person.

Teh Dedeh is the Treasurer of PAGUYUBAN INTI. She is a hard worker and has a high interest in
making her goals achieved. With the aim to pursue her personal interests, she often try to make
money from everything, she runs lele business in her house and car rents. Shes not the right person
to be our local buzzer.

Pak Uu and Kang Ncep are the examples of local people with low power and low interests, which
are cant be chosen as the right buzzers.

Ustadz Oji is a person whos not involved in PAGUYUBAN INTI nor RUKUN USAHA. He has
high power because he has his own pesantren and lots of crop elds in Babakansari. Ustadz
Oji has high inuence towards the local people and is trusted for his honesty and education. He
isnt interested in any kind of political activities, which means he has low interest in pursuing his
own interests without giving positive feedbacks to the others. Thus, hes the right person to be
our local ambassador.
