FIRST-YEAR ORIENTATION: A GELATO AFTERNOON WITH BSG

Bowdoin Student Government, convened in General Assembly
WHEREAS, we recognized the importance of fostering the next generation of student leaders at Bowdoin
College;
WHEREAS, as a tradition, Bowdoin Student Government has held events during First-Year Orientation where
the executive leadership of BSG could engage with incoming students;
WHEREAS, our operating budget includes a line-item for hosting a welcome event for first-years;
WHEREAS, after due consideration this summer, the Executive Committee hosted an event at the Bowdoin
Walker Art Museum: "A Gelato Afternoon with BSG," which attracted a large number of incoming first-
year students;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT


ESOLVED, That the members of Bowdoin Student Government, convened in General Assembly
1. The Executive Committee is retroactively approved to spend $800.00, payable to Gelato Fiasco, for
providing gelato at this event.
2. The Executive Committee is retroactively approved to execute any and all documents for the purposes
of this event.

RESIDENTIAL LIFE CINEMA
Bowdoin Student Government, convened in General Assembly
WHEREAS, part of the mission of Bowdoin Student Government is to provide services to the student body;
WHEREAS, BSG provides students a service, called PolarFlix, to stream new movies online, where the list of
movies changes each month;
WHEREAS, the Executive Committee will decide each month's movie listings;
WHEREAS, our operating budget includes a line-item for this service;
WHEREAS, BSG lawfully acquires the rights to stream these movies to the Bowdoin community from
Residence Life Cinema, a corporate division of Swank Motion Pictures, Inc.;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT


ESOLVED, That the members of Bowdoin Student Government, convened in General Assembly
1. The Committee on Facilities & Sustainability and the Executive Committee is retroactively authorized
to spend $12,000 to acquire the year's streaming rights to movies.
2. The Executive Committee is retroactively authorized to execute any and all documents for the purposes
of this service.
3. The Vice President for Student Government Affairs be authorized to perform all public affairs functions
to deliver the service to Bowdoin students, up to the amount authorized for an Executive Officer.

TURBOVOTE

Bowdoin Student Government, convened in General Assembly
WHEREAS, Bowdoin Student Government is a democratically-elected body of student leaders, and recognizes
the right to vote with utmost importance while also supporting increasing political awareness and voter
activism among the student body;
WHEREAS, To make voting easier, BSG has partnered with TurboVote, a nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization that services to streamline paperwork and ballot casting to enable students to more easily vote;
WHEREAS, Our operating budget includes a line-item for this service;
WHEREAS, In proceeding with our mission to support student voting activism, the Executive Committee has
given and will continue to give due consideration for monitoring the effectiveness of this system;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT


ESOLVED, That the members of Bowdoin Student Government, convened in General Assembly
1. The Executive Committee is authorized to spend no more than $350.00 to provide the TurboVote
service to all Bowdoin students.
2. The Executive Committee is authorized to execute any and all documents for the purposes of this
service.
3. The Vice President for Student Government Affairs be authorized to perform all public affairs functions
to deliver the service to Bowdoin students, up to the amount authorized for an Executive Officer.
