Coventry City Council appoints Civica to deliver IT

systems support
3-year partnership to provide support for revenues and benefits software provided through
the South Worcestershire Partnership
London, October 14th, 2014: Civica, a market leader in specialist systems and business
process services that helps organisations to transform the way they work, has commenced a
3-year partnership to deliver revenues and benefits IT systems support for Coventry City
Council. The work was awarded after a thorough procurement process, which included the
incumbent supplier Capita.
The partnership allows Coventry to benefit from Civicas broad software expertise. Within the
agreement, Civica will manage third party systems including revenues and benefits software
from Capita and document management from Northgate Public Services, together with
general IT support for the councils revenues and benefits service. It also includes the
provision of off-site processing support from Civicas OnDemand service. The agreement
has provided the opportunity to transform and automate such critical services.
Civica will deliver the service from the Orchard Centre in Pershore, which is part of the
strategic partnership with the South Worcestershire Revenues & Benefits Shared Service,
with Malvern Hills District Council, Worcester City Council and Wychavon District Council.
As a strong and stable partner for local government, Civica has built a specialist revenues
and benefits service model with the skills, flexibility and scalability to respond to the rapid
changes faced by councils. Civicas systems are used to deliver reliability and efficiency in
tax and benefits processing, supporting improved services for more than 4 million people;
including those under the care of Gloucester City Council, the Forest of Dean and South
Worcestershire.
Tim Savill, Head of Revenues and Benefits at Coventry City Council, comments: Were in
the midst of making some challenging changes, so it was important for us to select the right
transformation partner to help us. Civicas breadth of knowledge and understanding of the
issues facing local authorities makes them an important partner for automating and
transforming critical council services such as revenues and benefits.
Gary Bell, Civica BPO Managing Director, said: We are delighted to be working in
partnership with Coventry City Council as an extension of our support for South
Worcestershire councils. Building on our extensive experience in driving IT-enabled
business process improvements, we will continue to safeguard jobs in the region while
driving savings, innovation and growth.
The new service builds on the foundation of the South Worcestershire Partnership. Following
its formation in October 2013 and a successful first year, the Partnership currently provides
support to 15 local authorities together with the Department for Education and Skills.
