Foreword:
Welcome to FY 2013-14 !!
It brings us immense pleasure to welcome you all to this 1
st
placement bulletin of SMU-DE, Gujarat. The sole
purpose of making this document is to keep you all posted on the happenings on the Employment Enablement
initiative which we have introduced. In the Last 3 months we have seen very aggressive placements activities going
on in across the country and in Gujarat. The whole aim of Employment Enablement initiative is to help our
students get their desired choice of career. We AIM to become not only the largest Distance Education Provider but
also work towards getting our students a good career choice, apart from awarding degrees.
We did a successful cluster meet at Ahmedabad on 18
th
April in which 21 LCs had participated from across Gujarat
& we would like to thank all of our centers for their active participation and learnings shared in the meet. We had
discussed during this cluster meet about how placement is going to be a new USP for us in Distance Education
segment, all LCs have shown a great interest in conducting placement drives at their locations after we shared
success stories of placement drives in the cluster meet. Lot of LCs did placement drive for the 1
st
time in April and
with good success. With the temperature soaring all across the country let us also feel the heat and buzz of
placement initiatives and be an active part of it. Looking forward to a great month of May with a record 12 Job
drives planned in the month across 7 cities in Gujarat. We welcome your suggestions to improve this initiative of
Placement drives as well as this Placement bulletin.

1) Advertisement: paper advertisement were released twice which generated around 60 calls
2) Calling up current students and alumni
3) Emails / Posting on Facebook page
4) Announcing in classrooms during weekend sessions.

1) Email to data collected through Resume making work shop done in colleges earlier.
2) Press release in Gujarat Guardian news paper
3) Facebook promotion: Job drive was promoted on National Group web page
4) Announcement in class rooms during week end classes.
5) Announcement on notice board

LC Speaks
It was a great experience by doing this job drive, we did it for the 1st time at our center but we found good
response .Around 40 candidates came for the interview and from that approx. 18 were selected for different
companies. In future we will try to get more awareness for the job drive so that maximum students will get
benefit and can get placement.

It was a good initiative by the university to do placements for students. Students were happy that SMU is
helping them in getting good jobs. I am sure that we will keep improvising and keep this activity on for the
benefit of student community. This will surely help us in getting good WOM.

"It was nice to see companies from different Industries under one roof like Shoppers Stop - Retail, Karvy -
Consultancy, Axis Capital Ltd - Home & Mortgage Loan, Ing Bank - Banking, Transform & Motif - BPO. It
was really helpful for SMU & Non SMU Candidates to kick start their respective careers. Special thanks to
SMU and National Group to arrange such kind of Job Drives and wants to arrange many more in future to help
maximum candidates to kick start their careers and also companies to get right candidates.
