Energetic Must Have Might Have
Serious stage in the progression of a warm febrile
disease. Pathogenic heat sinks into the PC and
disturbs the spirit, causing the indications listed
above. This presentation may also present when
vigorous internal heat congeals the fluids into phlegm.
The turbid phlegm veils the sensory orifices and
impairs the consciousness.

of shock
This formula is for shock which causes the SI to go
out. Something happens and this is the person who
instead of fainting starts laughing/giggling hysterically.
Or taboos, sexual or scatological humor. This can be
acute or chronic. It seems to happen to teenage girls.
When this happens to the HT, the SI grabs whatever
it can. There' s a fear "stop fear" that comes up when
the SI realizes the HT isn't there. It panics and tries to
grab something quickly and then sticks to it. Common

You're at WAR. Gypsum: hunger appetite PO & ST.
Animal passion and appetite. Rage and warlike
behavior coming from not getting what you want.
Hunger unfed. Keep the hunger, but use it to hunt
better, in service for her family. Zhi Mu: PO & KI:
animal passion + lust. Possession by your own lower
burner. If you don't give me what I want I will
overpower you to get it. When you want something
and don't get it this usually leads to turning to
darkness. Don't. This makes you highly regarded by
God. Transform from wasting fire to purifying fire.

Sweet, Stuck Bloat, Rebellious ST Qi, Deficient.
Some say it's for LR qi stagnation because main
symptom is plum pit syndrome, which can be from LR
qi stag. 9x out of 10 the thing stuck in your throat is a
constrained shout. If so you will have other LR signs.
When there's a singing, yellow person thinking, "hope
you choke," while being too nice, use this. You're not
expressing, transforming. It literally feels more gooey
than LR qi stag, which feels scratchy, hard or tight.
Virtue: High diplomacy and tact. They're not
sacrificing their own comfort or yours.
ACUTE stuffy
nose/sinuses
The SI connects inner and outer heaven in 3 ways:
sensory orifices, language/communication, serving as
liaison between the heart and other fu. You can't be in
a no brainer place with SI sorting. The SI connects
the ST, LI and other fu so that they're able to have
consciousness, thinking. This is Upright Branch or
Windows on SI. This is intense, there's some icky
yuck, gunk. SI Heartbreak Soup: caught in the middle
between ego and divinity. Some else's divinity and my
divinity are saying two different things. Chills out one
that's hot, warms the cold. Focuses on just integrity.
Center. Closely related with Minor Bupleurum.

Don't reject inspiration! Deeply pretty formula. Tired
and restless both. Anxiety about stopping. The LU
needs Qi. Good for LU/KI where the person is too
tired to rest. Adrenaline buzz. Needs enough energy
to be able to go to sleep. Person running on empty.
Shallow, weak breath. Too tired to handle anything
that's not perfect.
EARTH: This is a SP Qi collapse situation. This
person dropped their membership in the "this or that"
club. They're just tired. This formula brings people
forward. You're tonifying the middle so that you can
raise clear yang. Common chronic fatigue formula--
helps lift out the pathogen, Epstein Barr and some
fibromyalgia. WOOD: Effective for LR Yang
deficiency. The person needs the rising initiative
energy. Good for pot headed vagueness. Can be a
deep despondency, depression, hopelessness.
Frustration of going nowhere and doing nothing and
having no inner loft. This person needs height, the
hun needs lift, vision and assertion.
This formula is for acute sinus fullness & stuffy nose.
Not for a chronic condition. It's a very elegant mental
level formula. It's usually added to something else. A
chronic condition isn't a result of Wei qi shutdown. It's
LU heat making fluid stagnate up and not descend or
from the intestines--damp in the intestines (6 gents to
transforms the intestinal damp).
The FOUR BIGS: big
pulse, big fever, big
thirst, big sweat
Detoxifying some bad stuff--hold me down! This
condition arises from problems in all three of the yang
stages of disease. Results from improper use of
purgatives used before disease enters yangming
organ stage. Gui Zhi resolves problems in taiyang
level and helps relieve feeling of heaviness. Chai Hu

bottling up of the EPI, Da Huang resolves the
yangming stage symptoms. Long Gu and Mu Li and
Qian Dan weigh down and calm the floating spirit.
Ren Shen and Fu Ling strengthen the SP to ensure
it's not further injured. Ban Xia causes qi to descend

A lot of the time people use Xiao Yao San when they
need this. This formula frees up the "doing" (qi) and
fills up the "being" (blood). Assertion and taking up
personal space is strengthened. Ideal for qi
constraint. The person may have ribcage constraint
and plum pit syndrome. Also, he/she needs some
blood tonification. This great for people with a
constitutional 8/9 block. Feeling snagged, frustration.
"It's a pain in the butt and I can't do it anyway." It
helps a person move through the gate of hope into
expansiveness.

Shy person with cold hands and feet. This formula

Opens and warms the axilla GB. This person is cold

Some say this is mainly for deficient heat in the heart

say it's for blockage in the SI leading to heat. It treats
all three. Mania. This formula brings the ability to sort
without going out of control and scorching
himself/others. Sometimes people who are very very
smart are also very very lonely, because they believe
you have to meet their mind in order to have a heart
connection. This formula breaks that picture. When
people have Heart Fire they might be nasty but the
hell inside of them is worse than the hell they're giving

In may old texts, the Heart was part of the Earth

The Heart is the center of non-material reality. It's
good for fire that's too ragged out to be able to
nourish earth. Or, for earth too wrapped around its
own axle to be able to nourish fire (through XII/I).
Nervous worry is the emotional theme. Now spinning
thoughts of earth are directed towards you own heart.

(even thought their Outer Frontier Gate does). Main
sexual abuse recovery formula. Classics: dreams of
being dead with your parents having a picnic on your
grave. Means child abuse. Sexual abuse that leaves
in its wake confusion, uneasy, shame, not clear about
it. Combo of Gui Zhi & Fu Ling means there's shame
and confusion present that the formula addresses,
generally around intimacy, interpersonal issues.

right wrist. Can you and I become we? In this person,
they want the warmth but fear the contact. They want
you in bed with them, but they want to connect with
their fantasy, so in essence they're sleeping with
ghosts. Main formula for bladder shyness. Can give
when a whole bunch of other formulas don't work
(looks yin or yang deficient...but they're actually qi
deficient (contact)). This formula brings stability to the
lower burner.
toothache?
Ying and Wei out of adjustment. This formula warms
the surface to keep cold out. This person is sweating
during the first stage of a cold, even though shouldn't
be sweating, because pores are too open and inner
ying is coming out. Reversed frontier gates create a
need for extra warmth from the other person because
there's a feeling of exposure and vulnerability.
Chronic coping tactics: car salesman, romantic
daydreamer, cold flirt, shy slut. Give this and not ma

useful sweating. The Ma Huang person is not
sweating--all gates are shut. You want them to sweat.

Yang is configurative--it can make shapes and
meanings out of things. If you don't have LU yang,
you don't know how to create meaning in experiences
in life. Wu Wei transforms fluids in LU. In health, air
mixes with jinye. The jinye is the impressionable
force. In this situation, there's plenty of jinye, but there
isn't enough configurative force. Sometimes jinye
can't "wed" to the qi. We're not configuring the air.
This can appear as an excess (slight) because there's
not eough yang. This person needs more
personalization with the events of the universe. "Life
is meaningless" of the depressive state is not this.
Grasping is an astringent function. This is for basal qi,
the qi the LU needs to function (overall). Qi deficient

people who need this are so in their own viewpoint
that they believe their viewpoint is reality. "Hmmm.
How do you think that looked from the other person's
view?" Get them to take the other person's
perspective. Heat in the stomach pulls heat out of the

can create aggression by inciting the GB to create
more bile. Then the GB/LR can invade earth. The
greediness of a hot ST can actually invite invasion.

When you want to adapt to the dark you have to
become darker than the dark. The best way to hear in
the silence is to become quieter than the silence. This

being even quieter and even darker than the darkness
they fear. Stop running fro fear. Listen. Relax.

This is a great combo for a wood or water cf with the
other one within with visual or creative problems. Not
able to see creatively enough. This puts more juice
under creativity and moves it to the eyes. Good artist

late at night. They use the yin of the night.

formula. Toxic earth mal-digests. Toxins in the
blood become skin eruptions. Huang Lian:
clears HT/SI/ST heat. Ravenous. Sheng Ma:

There are many variations of this formula. It's fluttery
fire or metal blood deficient insubstantial person. It's
eight precious & herbs which bring it to the upper
burner (BL 37 & BL 38). It warms and fills the Heart
mediator and LU with blood and warmth. More
nourishment that's fire and metal and elegance can
be less brittle. You can use cinnamon bark instead of
or with the twigs. Metal cf. Physically cold & pale.
Xmas deficiency. Cold dark autumn winter day. Not
much love light and soft. Metal is a mineral. It can use
some life blood and heart. It softens and fills metal.

This is the ultimate Tang Zhong Center of the Heart
Universe formula. This formula steadies an irregular
heartbeat, pulse and breathing. It synchronizes the
rhythm of the heart and breath so that the upper jiao
is moving in heavenly unison. 9/11.The old rhythm is
gone. You need to find a new way. Generally people
go into over-control (ht qi def.) This helps a person
move through the pathology of over control or feeling
there's no control. Abdullah Schaub. Wu Wei:
astringes LU qi to prevent leakage of LU qi and
sweat. Mai Men Dong: Tonifies LU, HT, ST, LI yin. Air
after storm. Ren Shen: tonifies Basal qi, SP qi, LU qi.
Good for mitro-valve prolapse.

This is good for women with pain when standing

It's often modified. Heat enters the interior where it
constrains yang qi. This inhibits yang qi from
spreading to the extremities, causing cold fingers and
toes. The tongue and other symptoms reflect heat
w/cold extremities
This formula has an internal balance of movement
and stillness. It's the base for most menstrual
formulas. Helps you stand fully in your own skin, take
up your own space. Resilience in presence of
trespass.
Cold, KI Yang def.
damp-cold leading to constrained qi and turbid
phlegm. Su He Xiang and An Xi Xiang: penetrate
turbidity surrounding the orifices, opens closed
disorders, restores consciousness. She Xiang and
Bing Pian: break up turbidity, open orifices, unblock
channels and collaterals. Mu Xiang, Tan Xiang, Chen
Xiang, Ru Xiang, Ding Xiang, Xiang Fu: are acrid,
dispersing, warm and moving. They moves the
movement of qi. Bi Ba warms the middle burner. Zhu
Sha sedates the heart. Bai Zhu tonifies qi. He Zi:
restrains the leakage of qi. This formula uses many
aromatic substances to open orifices, transform
turbidity and promote the movement of qi. Wind-
stroke, cold-stroke, qi-stroke, collapse from disorders
involving phlegm.
Calms the restlessness of an empty heart on fire
KI Yang/BL Yang tonic. Not about edema or
steaming. It holds and concentrates urine. Fluids not
condensed and the person is having a hard time
holding fluid in BL. Incontinence. This formula is often
added to other formulas. It's gentle but effective.
Gives the strength to bear fruit. Xu Duan: Don't be
scared (KI yang). You can provide stability for
someone else. For propensity to or fear of
miscarriage. Tonifies Qi & Blood of the KI & SP. Main
symptom is backache. There's low energy.
This formula clears wind and tonifies KI yin deficiency.
As a whole this formula has 2 halves: a top half that's
fiery and excess and a bottom half that's deficient.
You either see the surface which is the pressure
(meet that deadline). Or you see what's underneath,
which is fear, uncertainty, will I be able to do it, do I
have what it takes. The more this person is scared
about their own level of potency the more urgent and
pressured they get.
This is for a Fire/Water person who needs the HT/KI
axis reconnected. Tonifies HT Qi, LU Yin, HT Blood,
Calms Spirit. Or Water person with lots of fire and a
touch of metal. Main formula for cocaine recovery.
Heart unquiet, Heart unrooted, Heart unreceptive,
Heart nervous. Essence of upper KI points. We are
tonifying the aspect of the emperor that receives the
mandate from heaven. Able to be deeply satisfied
within my depth down into my root, able to go into
deep silence. Metal: This formula says, "Yes." If
you're longing for the sacred, you're already in contact
with it, you just haven't taken it in (yin def.).
We wont actually see people like this because if
theyll be in the hospital. You can add Dan Shen
for cruelty and Chai Shao for anger than began
as a hunger for justice. This is for Jade Fox. The
heat in the blood is triumphant and marauding.
Rage for justice has conquered and is
dominating. Xi Jiao: clears heat in GV & HT
(delirium & convulsions). Sheng Di Huang:
clears heat in the blood. Mu Dan Pi: clears heat
in the blood. Chi Shao: clears hard, fixed angry
mess. My insides has become a sear. I am
angry injury. Identity revolves around the angry
injury.
Use this when you're even further into stuckness from
Liu Jin Si Tang. This person is like an all-terrain
vehicle.
For the Green and Yellow Pinellia Drain the
Epigastrium person. Illness is hooked into your
center. Can't push straight up. Can't attack straight
on. Twist. Pivot. Quick moving moves. Chai Hu: like
Moses you feel your oppression. Then you rebel. Fist
it goes in (crouch) then it unhooks (spring).
Fire not controlling metal, metal overcoming wood.
Acute: someone turned on a water faucet in your
head and it's coming out your face. It's for Eyore. It's
for Ireland. Pessimism. Fire and metal excitement--it's
a really good party (fire) and it's a really good magic
show (lu yang). Also used cautiously for LU yang
deficiency that's led to LU yin excess (chronic). Ma
Huang and Xi Xin jettison. You grief to LU. Ban Xia
deals with the chewing gum in the LU. Wu Wei
balances the Ma Huang. Gui Zhi, Sheng Jiang & Bai
Shao help the insides to be nourished. Something
warming your true light out to the surface.
thirst
Angry doormat formula. Use it for LR invading SP,
where LR Qi constraint, SP qi def. and Blood def all
exist. Liver invades SP because it's its neighbor The
person holds in emotion, not enough self esteem to
speak up and eventually you invade yourself and
possibly a neighbor. Elementally, it's wood and earth
when they get bogged down. Sometimes when there's
not enough blood & qi, what is there stagnates. This
is for a stagnant 8 Precious person. This is deficient
anger. Deficient anger doesn't mean a little bit angry.
It's anger from a place of weakness, helplessness.
There's a whine underneath the yell.
Most commonly used when theyve basically
won the battle but the LU is still very hot. This
formula drains dark heat, dry heat. Like the
bottom of the gecko formula. Give to
someone shrieking for jihad. Angry shriek of
violation of holiness. Heat in the LU =
franticness. Parched, frantic, top of the LU
frantic heat. May have nosebleed, thirst, feeling
of burning or heat in LU. Cant rest. Desperate
frantic striving. Sang Bai Pi: clears heat from
LU/KI. Di Gu Pi: clears heat from LU/KI &
tonifies yin. Gan Cao: clears heat, harmonizes.
Jing Mi: protects stomach
This is a bleeding too much formula. Blood deficiency
is a rare cause of bleeding, but it can happen.
Menses that never end. This formula stops it. Helps
mid-cycle spotting, potential miscarriage. It doesn't
prevent a fetus from aborting if it needs to abort. This
is a "Hold on to the previous" formula.
This is only the right if the person has: blood
deficiency, LR qi constraint, Heat in the Blood,
Congealed Blood above the Diaphragm. Virtue: It's
OK to be who you are. Take up your space. You have
been injured, it's true, but it's worth continuing to feel.
There's more to feel in life than pain, It's worthy letting
others touch you. This is the upper jiao congealed
blood formula. It's for someone who has been abused
and attacked. It's for cruelty to oneself. The person
injures and reinjures themselves at the sight of the
injury. Blood deficient qi constraint often manifests as
anger turned inwards upon itself.
This formula makes a "go" heartbeat. Not stately like
Heavenly Emperor. It's more of a concept than a
formula. There are many varieties. This is a yang
version of Heavenly Emperor. Good for someone not
able to find words, not able to shine forth as here I
am, this is me. Bringing it on out. The wu xing shi yao
is a really deep listening, because most people who
are this formula, in order for them to talk they need a
very deep silence to talk into. I know who I am, I'm
comfortable, I'm going to show up and shine it forth.
This person has a slickness. This is the wood person
you want to tell to breathe and slow down. A clipped,
dry quality. This person has it all together and the only
frustration is that the rest of the world can't keep up.
On inside is a tremendous emptiness and grief,
because wood means almost no metal. Outrunning
his/her own lungs. Mai Men Dong softens dry metal.
Sha Shen contains moisture. Shu Di Huang brings
silence. Gou Ji Zi moves into water to look at what is
there. Tang Kwei: now it can move. Chuan Lian: I
don't have to make a fight or struggle out of it.
This ventilates heat trapped in the surface. Indicated
by a cold which started with a sore throat.
Sabbath Rest + Meaningful Engagement
This is good for the elderly. It supports a person in
their longevity. It's good for cold, yang deficient
infertility. This formula is gentle. It's common for
comebacks after illness or exhausting something or
other.
Insatiable hunger and desire. This is full heat and yin
deficiency in the LU, ST and KI. There's no root and
stagnant blood in the KI. Hot & tight low back pain.
This person is restless, has hyper-sexuality, insatiable
sexuality (feels like hunger-devouring-obsession-
consuming). This is not like Ban Xia productive
obsessive where you're thinking about a project all the
time. This is often a formula for a diabetic.
This is a very ancient formula. This is for Wei Qi
deficient spontaneous sweating: full body
spontaneously sweats--the LU is misting tissues and
it comes all the way out because the pores aren't
closed as they should be. Heart Mediator spont
sweating is more to do with interpersonal
nervousness, wanting to be liked. This is not for what
you've already got. It helps you prevent would could
come. It's also good for susceptibility to criticism--
hyper afraid of it. This helps you to say, "It's not my
problem. It's not about me."
We're giving a unified message to the blood: don't
bleed too much and don't stop, either. Particularly
good for bleeding/congeal from trauma. Promotes the
healing of wounds; prevents adhesions after surgery.
Stops bleeding on a spiritual and emotional level.
Helps resolve old injuries; sudden relationship
breakup when it wasn't you idea and you're
anguishing and bleeding over it. Usually 1-2 week
intervention for spirit level and 2-3 week intervention
for physical. For clearing at beg. of tx: 2 capsules
2x/day 4 days on, 3 days off, then repeat next week.
You're expecting a fight. You're out to prove yourself.
This person is a loner. Wood/Metal with a subtext for
Earth (dry, forlorn Earth). Wood wrapped tight,
expecting battle. Metal cut off, defended. Can't fall
asleep because they're in defense mode. LR 14, LU
1, LU 2. You can't fall asleep because you're in
defense mode. We have Si Ni San. Xi Xin:
unconstrains GB, esp in diaphragm. Opens
constrained closet wet rainy LU (LU 2). Ge Gen: Earth-
-ST/LI herb. More ST...Known for going to yangming
tight shoulders. Sha Shen: LU Yin--the sweetness of
the inhale. Ability to take it in.
This is for someone who has so much edema,
diarrhea, nausea and obvious wetness you know the
problem isn't that they don't have enough yin. This is
the quivering wimp formula. This person's life is wet.
They have edema, the flesh holds fluids, there is
excess water. It's hard to light something. This is KI
yang overwhelmed by KI yin. It's impossible to assert
the will because of the preponderance of what seems
like your fate bearing down on you. Message: You are
the essential creator of your fate: not external forces
or other people's desire. These people often have a
lot of guilt, similar to earth guilt.
This is blood and yin deficiency with ascending yang
of the Heart and Liver. The formula focuses on
insomnia from deficient HT blood with ascending LR
yang.
Darth Vader. This formula brings in the ocean of dark,
silence. It quenches, fills the root. Go down and into
the dark to receive and be filled by the dark (in a
positive sense). Good for restlessness, unrootedness,
fear coming from an unrooted place, agitation,
unrooted sexual desire. Kidney Fire is like Kidney
Yang from the devil. Instead of ambition, desire and
resolution of yang, it's the lust, domination and
heedless recklessness of desire and ambition.
Can't bear to be touched (thin skinned and delicate).
Longs to make contact (forlorn or used car
salesman), Sheng Mai San & Cinnamon Twig Soup
Formula. This is for the Gui Zhi Tang person who is
yin deficient with a little heat. This formula is Gui Zhi
Tang & Sheng Mai San. Use for three types: 1.
Contact heart to heart. Fluttery fire and irregular
pulse. 2. Difficult ying & wei. Can't handle being
touched. 3. Thin-skinned, bleeds easily. Being
touched hurts. Delicate, parched dry Metal. Often
used for heart disease, b/c there's not enough qi to
pump the blood you're cold & heat can develop
around the heart. Gui Zi helps the heat move out to
the edges.
This is vigorous HT fire injuring the blood and yin. The
heart scorches the blood in yin, which deprives the
HT of nourishment. Or can say that the uprising of the
Heart prevents it from rooting in the KI, which gives
the spirit no place to reside during the yin time of
night.
This is the primary formula for stomach flu or
hangover (summerheat). It's the essence of a 10/11
block. ST 45: Hard Bargain. When you look at life you
see shit instead of food. It's good for morning
sickness triggered by little things (smells, etc.). This
person is throwing up. If you're not throwing up, it's
also good for headache (nausea manifesting in the
head).
