PROGRAM USING 8 PS OF SOCIAL MARKETING

Problem
Decreasing sources of potable water
Contamination of groundwater resources due to wastewater mainly caused
by biochemical products of pollution from the environment and other
sources like leakage of septic tanks
Increasing incidence of diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract like
diarrhea, vomiting, gastroenteritis and enteritis; dermatological like
hypersensitivity reactions, viral exanthems and parasitic infestations.
Inefficient sewerage system that can environmentally disposed of or treats
the sewage that it holds.
Construction and or repair of an effective sewerage system is time
consuming and very costly.

I. Product
Wastewater Treatment Program
o Wastewater treatment facility, that make use of a hybrid
technology using an aerobic buffled reactor (ABR),
sequence batch reactor (SBR) and a cocopeat filter system.
o Treatment and Recycling wastewater from toilets and
public markets and other target establishments
o Massive Information drive, which is an advocacy campaign,
intended to raise the awareness on wastewater facility,
proper conservation of water and other related
environmental and health issues.
o Decreases the incidence of water-borne illness
o Reclaimed water can be reused for other purposes like, fire
water, watering plants, flush water in toilets, irrigation and
cleaning of streets and wet market areas.

II. Price
Wastewater Treatment Facility Construction
o Fully funded by the local government
o Construction Cost: 6-7 Million Pesos
o Operation and Maintenance: P 25,000 30,000/ month
Electricity: P 15,000/month
Salary of Operators (2): P 15,000/month
Promotion and Advertising: P 500,000 for entire project which
will come from the consumers fund
Consumers Fee System: Consumers Fund
o Every stall owner will pay P 10/day for the use of the
facility
o i.e. 1200 stalls x P 10 x 365 days = P 4,380,000/ year or
P 360,000/month
Contingency fund for emergency situation like repair, change of
oil, motor, pumps and other miscellaneous expenses:
o P 30,000/month allotted from the consumers fund
Reclaimed water reuse saves water pumping cost by 50 %:
Savings of P 500/day or P 15,000/month
Full Recovery of cost can be achieved in 2-3 years of operation
Treatment facility is expected to last for 25 years

Share the benefits of having a wastewater treatment
facility in the community in term of health, economic
and social alleviation.

o Highlights:
Information campaign promotes awareness
regarding the objectives, project proper, funding,
policies and partnership with respect to the
facilities.
Intensify the value of water sanitation and
conservation.
Target all affected audiences regardless of their
social stature, in terms of information
