Preliminary remarks and safety
advice:
Product
character-
istics:
This manual contains all necessary information for
the assembly and use of Doka climbing formwork
MF in accordance with the applicable regulations
and must therefore be read by the staff responsible
and having supervisory authority before beginning
to assemble or use the formwork.
Only qualified, skilled staff should be allowed to
work with Doka climbing formwork MF.
All responsible persons must be familiar with and
have access to these assembly and operating
instructions.
We reserve the right to make technical changes in
the interest of improving the Doka climbing
formwork. For this reason there may be departures
from the illustrations and information shown in this
manual.
The technical instructions given in this brochure
must be adhered to exactly. If any deviations from
these are contemplated, confirmatory statical check
calculations must be performed first.
Always observe all relevant regulations in the country
in which you are operating with regard to the safe
use of our products and to the dimensioning of
handrail and floor boards.
The lifting and safety instructions on page 33 must
be complied with.
All materials used must be flawless.
Damaged components must not be used.
Only DOKA original parts may be used as replace-
ment parts.
It may be dangerous to combine our formwork
systems with those of other manufacturers. This
point should be checked very carefully first.
We offer special training seminars to users of Doka
formwork products. These give participants a great
deal of useful information on how to make the best
possible use of the products, both from the technical
and the commercial point of view. If needed, we can
provide trained formwork supervisors to give on-
site formwork instruction.
Doka climbing formwork MF is used wherever
formwork has to be lifted for successive pouring
sections.
Formwork and climbing scaffold can be crane-lifted
as a single unit.
Doka climbing formwork is ideal for use with frame
formwork or timber-beam formwork.
There is a direct connection facility for the automatic
climber SKE.
Doka climbing formwork MF is a multifunctional
modular system. Formwork and climbing scaffold
can be inclined by 15.
The working platform has a width of 2.40 m which
allows the formwork to be retracted by up to 75 cm.
With the modular system one platform type suffices
for setting up suspended platforms and pouring
platforms.
Formwork can be assembled and removed without
a crane. This reduces crane times, as a crane is
needed only for lifting.

Warning
against not screwing the pigtail anchor or stop
anchor far enough into the Universal climbing cone:
This may subsequently lead to reduced load-
bearing capacity and to the failure of the suspension
point - with injury to persons and damage to
property as a result.
G Always screw in components until they fully
engage (i.e. up to the depth mark).
Also:
G For the positioning point and suspension point,
ONLY use Cone screws B 7 cm (head of screw is
red, to indicate its high load-bearing capacity)!
G Tie the stop anchor or pigtail anchor to the
reinforcement with binding wire. This prevents
it from becoming detached during pouring and
vibrating.
G The axis of the bracket and the axis of the
Universal climbing cone must align - maximum
angle-deviation 2.
G Never weld or heat tie-rods - risk of fracture!
G Every time the Universal climbing cones are
used, fit them with new sealing sleeves first.

The positioning point and suspension point are
prepared using the Universal climbing cone 15.0.
Depending on the application in question, either
Stop anchors 15.0/40 cm, Stop anchors 15.0/16 cm
or Pigtail anchors 15.0 will be used.
Stop anchor 15.0/40 cm - for wall thicknesses of
48 cm and upward. (5.5 cm concrete cover on the
cone side, and 2 cm concrete cover on the stop-
anchor side). Arrange extra reinforcement steel as
per statical requirement!
Stop anchor 15.0/16 cm - for wall thicknesses of
24 cm and upward. (5.5 cm concrete cover on the
cone side, and 2 cm concrete cover on the stop-
anchor side). Due to the short length of this stop-
anchor, stronger extra reinforcement (anti-punch-
through reinforcement) is necessary.
The Cone screw B 7 cm has the following functions:
a) on the positioning point - for fixing the Universal
climbing cone 15.0.
b) on the suspension point - for suspending the
Climbing bracket MF 240 from.
Head of Cone screw B 7 cm is red, to indicate its
high load-bearing capacity.

B 3 Adjusting the elements
The elements can be adjusted vertically and horizontally, or inclined to either side, in order to achieve the
exact position required in relation to each other and to the structure.
Adjustment procedure:
Before beginning:
Release the pressing wedge and detach the ele-
ment from the concrete.
I II II Release the waling-to-bracket holders through a
blow with a hammer.
I II II Turn the height-adjustment spindles using the
reversible ratchet 1/2" and sleeve nut 19. Verti-
cal adjustment range: maximum 15 cm.
In addition the height-adjustment spindles are
mounted in a grid of fixing holes on the vertical
waling MF 3.00 m (screw connection SW24), so
that their height on the vertical waling MF 3.00 m
can be altered.
I II II Thanks to the sliding effect of the formwork ele-
ment on the height-adjustment spindles, the el-
ement can be moved effortlessly to either side.
I II II Clamp the waling-to-bracket holders tightly af-
ter the formwork has been correctly adjusted.
Can be inclined to either side
by releasing the waling-to-bracket holders and turn-
ing one of the height-adjustment spindles.

When using a crane to lift climbing formwork MF or single units, such as one formwork element with
vertical waling MF 3.00 m, the crane cable must always be attached to the suspension bolt in the
vertical waling MF 3.00 m.
If the crane lifting cable cannot be directly attached to the suspension bolts provided in the vertical waling
MF 3.00 m, e.g. due to platforms placed overhead, the crane sling 3.50 m (for overall element height of max.
6.00 m) can be used as a variable extension.
I II II When a single climbing unit is lifted, two open
ends are left in the formwork system. These
must be secured by mounting side protections
(e.g. handrail clamps).
When mounting side protection in situ:
Operatives must wear appropriate safety harness.
Note on attaching crane cables to the climbing
formwork unit:
Crane cables or crane slings 3.50 m (permitted load-
bearing capacity 19.5 kN per sling) should be
fastened only to the suspension bolt of the vertical
waling MF. The lifting brackets on the formwork
element must not be used for lifting the whole
climbing formwork unit.
Angle of inclination of the lifting slings: max. 30.

B 6 Storage and transport
For the storage or transport of climbing formwork MF
components or subassemblies the following instructions
must be observed in order to ensure proper safety and
care of the materials.
I II II Climbing formwork MF components must always be on
or off loaded, transported and stacked in such a way
that they cannot fall out, tip over or fall apart.
I II II Components or assembly units should be laid down
only on level, load-resistant surfaces.
I II II For crane transport, the components must be firmly
suspended using lifting chains with two or four ropes.
I II II Use only round bolts as attachment points.
I II II The spread angle of the lifting chains should be max.
60.
I II II Never detach components from the lifting chains until
they have been deposited securely on the stack.
I II II Never climb up a stack of formwork elements without
using secure climbing aids.
I II II For transport by lorry, the components must be tied
together in bundles or put into suitable transport
containers.
I II II For transport by lorry, the components must be secured
to prevent them slipping.
I II II Stacks must be secured to prevent them toppling over.
I II II The service life of the components will be lengthened if
they are protected against dirt during storage.
I II II Assembly times will be reduced if the components are
stored in a clear, orderly fashion.
I II II The modular system permits flexible storage arrange-
ments (single components or subassemblies).
I II II Damage to the components can be reduced by using
intermediate timbers during storage and transport.
The condition in which the climbing formwork MF is
returned is subject to agreement with your branch (for
storage or overhaul).
