(1) IAD Virtual Graduation Ceremony - Oct 25-2014






Members of the church are invited to join Elders, Sabbath School Teachers and children who have
completed their course of study in a massive graduation exercise with hundreds of persons in Curacao
who will also be participating in a similar exercise. This virtual graduation ceremony will take place on
October 25, 2014 at the Andrews SDA church at 2:00 pm.
Persons who will be participating in this extra special virtual ceremony are urged to be on time. See
poster with more information below.

(2) Mad about Marriage Seminars

The Inter-American Division Publishing Association and Book & Nutrition Centre in association with the
Jamaica Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists will be hosting the Mad about Marriage Seminars
for Singles, Dating and Married Couples. Presenters will be Mad about Marriage & 35 Mottoes for
Happy Marriages Authors Mike and Gayle Tucker. The seminars will be held on October 24 at the
Kencot SDA Church at 6:30 pm and October 25 at the Hagley Park SDA Church at 3p.m. All Publishing
Directors and Colporteurs are invited to attend as well. Please see flyer below.

(3) Notice from the Jamaica Union
The Jamaica Union invites all members to Symposium 2014 Sabbath November 8, 2014 under the theme
Looking backreaching forward with Christ. Guest speaker will be Dr. Donald King President of the
Atlantic Union Conference. Please see flyer below.
(4) Notice from the Stewardship, Wills and Trust Dpt.
Letter to: All Pastors, First Elders, Stewardship, Wills & Trust Services Directors
Re: Stewardship & Wills and Trust Services Seminar and other Matters
The Stewardship and Trust Services Department of the East Jamaica Conference is extending this
special invitation to all our Stewardship Directors and Trust Services Directors to a special combined
Stewardship and Wills & Trust Services Seminar/Workshop to be held at the East Jamaica Conference
Board Room on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 9:30am. The theme of this special forum will be:

(5) Notices from the Childrens and Adolescence Ministries Department

1. All Child Preachers and Missionaries are asked to be present at the Andrews Memorial SDA Church
on Sabbath, October 25, 2014 @ 2:00 p.m. for the global joint graduation. Dress code- black pants/skirt
with Mission polo shirt or white blouse/ shirt with tie.
2. EJC Bible Spell-a-thon finals will be held on November 8, 2014 @ the Kingsway School.

(6) Notices from the Family Life Department

1. November 29, 2014 is International Singles Day. Remember to plan a special program of
affirmation for all our singles. A program guide will follow soon. Main venue will be the Constant
Spring Church.
2. Directors kindly send us the full names and date of marriage of all the members of your church by
December 30, 2014.
3. Hats off to the zones 1-3 Family Life Directors and committee members for attending the productive
Family Life seminar that was held on Sunday, October 12, 2014.
4. Zone 4! Coming soon, your pre marital counseling clinic to be held on Wednesdays beginning at 5:30
p.m. Details to follow.
5. Zone 4 your special Family Life seminar will be held at the Morant Bay SDA Church in November.
All F/L Directors along with 1 team member from each church are expected to be in attendance. Kindly
confirm your attendance with us by October 28, 2014, so that we can adequately cater for your needs.
Come share your vision with President Nathan and the F/L team.
6. A meeting of all volunteer personnel in counseling, mediation, social work, etc. from zones 1-4 will be
held on November 22, 2014. All persons who would like to volunteer to give even a few hours per year
are asked to call 7811565 or email cgenas@ejcsda.com. Let us help work while it is day.
7. BEAMS J unior Convention has been postponed for a date to be announced. All churches are asked to
send the names of two males (under 16 & over 17) with leadership qualities, sanctioned by your Church
Board to be trained as BEAMS representatives for your church. We commend those churches that have
already responded.


(7) Notices from the Womens Ministries Department

1. All ushers and women of EJC are asked to come prepared to participate in usher duties at the
thanksgiving service for the life of Mrs. Ena Marshall, (mother of Dr. Lorraine Vernal). This will be held
at Kencot Church on Sunday, October 26 @ 10 a.m.

2. November 25 is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (IDEVAW). The
material has been circulated for you to share with your church.

3. MOMS in Touch: For the month of October lets focus on and pray for our children and youth who are
being attacked by the various maladies.

4. Coming soon HEART NTA Soft Skills Graduation. Venue and date to be announced.

(10) Notices from the Youth Department

1. The recent outbreak of the Chikungunya Virus (Chik V) has severely affected preparation for the EJC
Pathfinder & Adventurers Examination, hence the date has been changed from Sunday, October 26,
2014 to Sunday, November 9, 2014.
2. There will be grand Pathfinder Festival at the Kencot grounds and the V.H. Percy Centre on Sunday,
November 23, 2014 to celebrate the creative genius, versatility, physical process, and the Christian
Commitment of our Adventurers and Pathfinders. It promises to be an unforgettable experience.
3. Please stay posted for details of Youth Congressoree, planned for December 12 - 14, 2014, with
services and activities to strengthen, enrich, inspire, and de-stress, every youth of EJC and beyond.

(11) Funeral Notice

The thanksgiving service for the life of Mrs. Ena Marshall, Mother of Sis. Loraine Vernal, will be held
at the Kencot SDA Church on Sunday, October 26 @ 10 a.m. The family is expressing thanks for the
love, prayers and support outpoured during this difficult time and is requesting that cheerful colours be
worn to the service.

Latest News Update Adventist Elders Receive Government Award
Elders Audrey Sewell from the North Street SDA Church and Alfonso Marshall from the Trench
Town SDA Church have taken the spotlight in the Adventist world in Eastern Jamaica having
received awards from the Government during the country's annual Heroes day celebration.

(13) Notices from the constituency


1. The Stony Hill SDA church will be having its Youth Week of Prayer November 1-8, 2014 under the
theme Christ Methods Alone as well as a Youths day celebration November 22, 2014. Please see
flyers below.

2. The Half-Way Tree SDA church will be hosting its 10th Anniversary Homecoming Celebrations
October 24-26 under the theme A beacon in the Heart of the City: Transforming Lives, Building
Communities. See flyer below.

3. The Ebenezer SDA Church at 31 Molynes Road, Kingston 10, will be celebrating Deacons &
Deaconesses day on Sabbath, October 25, 2014, under the theme, In your Hands, Lord. Divine
hour speaker: Pastor Jovan Whyte.

4. The Washington Gardens SDA Church invites you to their Community Guest Day on Sabbath
October 25, 2014 under the theme Then Came the Morning. The guest speaker will be Pastor
Devon Heath, North Jamaica Conference. Worship will begin at 9am. See flyer below.

5. The Johnson Town SDA Church invites you to their Communication Day on Sabbath October 25,
2014 under the theme "Transmitting the Gospel beyond boundaries". The speaker will be Elder
Phillip Castell, Communication Director -EJC. Come and bring a friend. Worship begins promptly
at 9:15am.

6. The Seaview Gardens S.D.A. Basic School invites applications from suitably qualified persons for
the post of Teacher. Job Scope: Reporting to the Board of Management, the successful candidate
will be required to perform teaching functions for staff and students respectively of the centre.

1. Encourage children to be independent learners.
2. Help children to develop positive self-image.
3. Respond to emergency situations such as accidents and illness, and ensure childrens safety at all
times
4. Prepare all learning materials.
5. Assist in the spiritual, social, physical and emotional development of the students.
6. To maintain high moral standard according to the principles of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
7. Be able to write and submit a full week lesson plan consistently.

The Applicant should be a pre-trained teacher with experience in early childhood education and be
certified at NVQR-J Level 2.

hosting FREE medical and legal services, counselling on employment, healthy lifestyle, cooking
demonstration, spiritual counselling etc. Please tell your friends and neighbours about this special
event.
