Prole:
The UT-Austin MFA program is distinctive by design.
Unlike traditional MFA programs in design, our
graduate curriculum does not require students to
declare a research specialization in graphic design,
industrial design, or any other subeld. Instead, it
encourages students to develop transdisciplinary
methods and strategies for identifying, framing, and
solving research problems in design and other elds.

The MSD is a research degree in design; it is not a
mere extension of the undergraduate studio experience
found in many masters degrees in design.
Consequently, it offers a different professional path,
one meant for design students who wish to pursue an
investigative career in design leading to discovery and

The Master of Urban Design (MUD) is a
multidisciplinary program in the Herberger Institute for
Design and the Arts. The curriculum draws from the
disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, law,
civil engineering, planning, public programs, real estate
development, and the rst School of Sustainability in
the United States. The program leverages its local
conditions (rapidly urbanizing metropolis, arid climate,
New American University) toward the development of
responsible global initiatives and innovative design

Kansas State University is a post-professional program
of study requiring a minimum of 30 semester credit
