Criminal justice Ethics

In this case I would have to report the situation to my supervisor. The reason I would
take this action is because the proper actions were not taken, and this could come back to bite
the department in the long run. Even though I believe that my partner is telling the truth, I still
have a feeling that something might not be right, being that my partner knows the proper way
that these things are supposed to be handled, and he intentionally handled them in a different
manner. I do not know if my partner has a personal issue with the suspects, or he just wants to
get the case over with and just charge somebody with the crimes, or is he actually telling the
truth. After I tell my supervisor of the situation he tells me to trust my partner, and take it to
trail, when it is obvious that the partner believed that a conviction is more important than
upholding policies. I personally feel that because my partner decided not to document the
confession, there is no evidence that an ethnical decision was considered, and when it is time
to go to trial the police department will not have anything to back them up in their decision.

With the victim still being in a coma, there will not be any testimony on her behalf, so that still
leaves a lack of evidence to convict the suspects of the crime. With the case rising to national
prominence as an example of how todays youth no longer respect fundamental social values,
television, and video games violence has desensitized young men to the consequences of
crimes such as assault and rape, as a demonstration of the inability of the policy to keep the
streets safe for law abiding citizens a conviction must be made to vindicate the police
department and district attorneys office handling the case. I used deontological ethics my
decision. In conclusion, I believe that reporting to my supervisor was the best ethnical decision
because my partner had informed me about his lack to follow through with our policy. The
officer had a blatant disregard to both policies contacting the minor's parents or taping the
confession. As an officer of the law, I had to hold my partner accountable. In today's society,
the media is always on alert to spotlight inconsistency within law enforcements; therefore, it is
important to ensure that ethnical decisions are not only stated but practiced.
