Catholic Mission
When I Grow Up I Want to Be Alive
God who is rich in mercy...made us alive (Ephesians 2:4-6)
October is Mission Month. The appeal invites parishioners
across Australia to reach out through their financial gifts and
prayers to support such crucial works, for example, like that of
the Jamaican Catholic Church in helping people turn away from violence and crime
to seek a new future through the power of education and the spirit of Jesus Christ.
Envelopes are available (Gathering Space).

Family Group Movement
Family Groups contribute to building up the parish community,
and for many members help deepen their understanding of their
own faith journey. You are all invited to stay for a cuppa
following each Mass today (hosted by the Family Groups).
Speakers: 8.30am Mass Chris Thompson
10.30am Mass Maureen Finnigan
6.00pm Mass Alan Ryan

Sustainability Focus: When we talk about the environment, about creation, my
thoughts turn to the Book of Genesis which states that God placed human life on
earth to cultivate and care for it (Gen: 2/15). Are we truly cultivating and caring for
creation or are we exploiting it? (Pope Francis, 6
th
October, 2014).

Anointing Mass: Thursday, 13
th
November at 2.00pm.

The Royal Commission: The Commission has raised many challenges within the
Catholic Church. The way the Church has historically handled child sex abuse has
put a heavy burden on people in our social services, education and health
organisations. Despite this, there is no doubt the network of Catholic social services
around Australia and the work of these groups within the Catholic Church is highly
regarded and their contribution to the community very much valued. (Francis
Sullivan, CEO Catholic Churchs Truth, Justice and Healing Council)

Emmanuel College: Year 12 official final day was celebrated with a whole school
Assembly at St Pius Hall on Monday. Congratulations and good luck with upcoming
exams. There was also a school Memorial Service held for Jack Lynch RIP.
Meetings: Tuesday: Finance Committee at 12.00noon
