72% OF ONTARIANS CONCERNED ABOUT EBOLA

TORONTO, October 31st, 2014. A new Ontario Mainstreet Technologies poll nds 72% of
Ontarians are very or extremely concerned about Ebola but also condent the province is
extremely or very prepared to respond to an outbreak (75%). With 3,103 respondents, the poll
had a margin of error of +/- 1.76%.
The poll also found that those who were the most concerned about Ebola were also the least
likely to get a u shot. 72% of all respondents said they were certain to get a u shot this year.
57% of those who were unlikely to get a u shot indicated they were extremely concerned about
Ebola. 50% of Ontarians think its likely Ebola will appear in Ontario.
"Although experts disagree on the number of u related deaths in Canada, the number being as
low as 300 per year and up to 8,000 per year, the u should be a greater concern than Ebola,
said Mainstreet Technologies President, Quito Maggi.
No doubt, Ebola is a terrible and terrifying disease that can infect anyone, regardless of age and
health, but the fear it has caused is surprisingly high. Despite the high level of concern however
there is an equally high level of condence in the Ontario health care system to manage an
infection or outbreak.
Surprisingly, 57% of those who are unlikely to get a u shot say there are extremely concerned
that Ebola will afect them or their families. It appears that for them the prevention of an easily
transmittable disease is not a priority, Maggi nished.
