ETERNAL REWARDS

Before a great white throne, stood a

multitude of people waiting for their
names to be called. On the right side of
the throne stood an angel who carried in
his hands a book from which he called out
names of men. On the left side of the
throne stood another angel who who
handed prizes to the one who sat on the
throne to present to the people who were
being called out.
People received rewards for different
kinds of achievements. Some for how
much they were able to influence others to
join the kingdom of the one who sat on the
throne. Others received rewards for their
eceptional sacrifices which they made for
the epansion of this kingdom. !here were
those who received rewards for the times
they knelt down to pray for the souls of
men who had not joined the kingdom.
!hose who had given their priced
possessions for the needy and for the
furtherance of the winning the lost were
not left out. "very reward that was handed
out had to do with matters of the kingdom
and the one who sat on the great throne.
# noticed that no one was rewarded for
getting to the peak of their professions on
earth nor for the titles they were accorded
by men. $o one was rewarded for how
successful their businesses were nor for
how talented they were.
$o body got rewards for how fervent they
had prayed for riches and fame nor did
anyone receive a gift for how boldly he
had criticised those who were in authority.
One thing # noticed was common to all
those who waited in line to receive
rewards was that they were all people
whose lives were certified to had been
truly spent for the honour of the one who
sat on they throne. !hey had been true
followers and not fakes. !hey did not
include people who professed to be
followers but their thoughts and deeds did
not testify to that. !hey did not include so
called pastors or prophets, bishops or
evangelists who did all they did to seek
fame, honour and followers for
themselves.
%s # thought about this scene, #
remembered a statement # once heard,
&%nything not done for the sake of
eternity is eternally useless'. (ow pitiful.

)et us watch our hearts therefore, and
eamine ourselves if truly we have set our
