On Friday October 24, 2014 I was notified by Chief Morrison that numero s "Hokanson for Mayor"
campaign signs were being stolen from the area.of West Lincoln Ave at L rch Street. He stated the thefts
were occurring on a nightly basis. He then asked me to assign an officer t monitor the area for that
evening and if necessary, manpower permitting.
I then contacted Sgt. Disano, that night's patrol supervisor and-had him a sign Patrolman Gaylord-to the
detail from 2290 through 0000 hours. The detailed was completed vyithou. any crifDinal
observed.

On Saturday October 25, 2014 at approximately 2300 hours, I was notif ed while I was off duty that
Michael Yakubov was in custody for stealing the campaign signs. I then responded to HQ to assist with
arrest processing. I arrived at approximately 0048 hours. At that time, Y kubov was handcuffed in the
female holding area. A short while later, Yakubov was processed and r leased with a summons for
2C:20-1 and 2C:17-3.
On Sunday October 26, 2014 I forwarded a copy of the case file to Dete tive C. Kim of the Union County
Prosecutor's Office for review. I was then notified by Assistant Prosecut r John Esmerado, who advised
that the UCPO would not be filing any further charges against Mr. Yaku ov.
On Monday October 27, 2014 I forwarded a copy of the sworn video sta ement of Yakubov to Det. Kim.
Investigation closed.
