New Jersey people oppose booze on the Atlantic City boardwalk
In Trenton, a majority of New Jersey residents believed that drinks in Atlantic City
belong to at the bar, according to a new poll. Most of New Jersey residents are not eager
to see Atlantic City becoming more like Las Vegas, which allow alcoholic beverages to
be carried on the boardwalk between casinos, according to a Rutgers-Eagleton poll. Only
35 percent of the people said that they would support such a measure. The proposal of
that Atlantic City should permit people to drink alcohol while those people are walking
between the casinos was floated by Senate minority leader Tom Kean Jr. If you want to
compete with Las Vegas, then you have to compete with Las Vegas, Kean said. The
opposition against the measure is split along party lines, with 40 percent of Republicans
in favor compared to 32 percent of Independents and only 30 percent of Democrats.
