0 Introduction
The earth has been through a lot of changes these past few decades. It is mostly related to
the issue of global warming. There is a lot of news about natural disasters that have affected
many countries such as earthquake, cyclone, tsunami, flood, drought and many more, and
many people have suffered from this. Now survival is a challenge for humans and the other
living things on our planet. The global warming happens naturally but because of human
activities the change is happening faster than is expected. The increasing of the earths
temperature is known as the greenhouse effect, but it is widely known as global warming.
2.0 Topic Discussion
2.1 The Causes of Global Warming
There are a lot of causes of global warming. lobal warming is forcing ocean
temperature to rise, which is causing storms, including cyclones and hurricanes to intensify.
The greenhouse effect is when the sun heats up the earth in the path of which the atmosphere
is being passed through by the solar radiation and it is then absorbed at the earths surface.
!ost of the gases emitted are trapped and therefore the earth is losing less heat which results
1
in global warming. "nd this is a bad thing as the earth will warm up faster than expected and
causes every living thing to suffer. #owever, the main cause of global warming is due to
human activities. #umans are mostly responsible for global warming over the past few
decades. It is due to their thoughtless and irresponsible nature. #umans have burn a large
amount of fossil fuel for their own usage in their daily life. $eforestation has been going on
for a long time, as the population is increasing rapidly more trees are being cut down. !ore
lands are being cleared for the use of humans needs. %o there are not enough trees to absorb
the carbon dioxide and therefore the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increases. In addition,
carbon emission has the highest emission rate and concentration& it contributes mostly to the
global warming. It is mostly vehicles and airplanes that release this type of gas as exhaust.
The chlorofluorocarbons and other gasses are to blame for the depleting of the o'one layer.
(hich has been protecting us from the harmful ultra)violet radiation of the sun and it could
damage. *hlorofluorocarbons are usually emitted by refrigerator, air)conditioner
and spray cans that are made by manufacturers.
2.2 The Effects of Global Warming
There are a lot of effects of global warming. +irstly, it is due to abrupt seasonal changes,
there will be earlier spring arrival and the period of summer will last longer. It is because of
that, the glaciers in the north and south poles will melt as the earth is becoming warmer over
these past few decades. The causes of that, the sea level will increase due to glacial melting
in the north and south poles and also from the thermal expansion of the oceans as water
temperature rise. %ome of the coastal region may submerge and also increase the risk of
seriously flooding in many more places. %econdly, for agriculture, there will be failure of
crop and there will be diseases such as famine and it will arise throughout the marginal
productive regions of the world, and forestry will also be affected as the trees would suffer,
which is all due to the droughts. "nd so, the people living in poverty will suffer the most as
2
they are more dependent on their natural resources and they cant adapt to the climate
changes easily. Thirdly, global warming may also cause organisms to move from one place to
another in order find a more suitable temperature or they would have to adapt to the climate
change if they dont want to face extinction. This movement may also result in diseases such
as malaria. The death toll would likely to increase if this goes on for a long time as diseases
would spread humans health would deteriorate especially the elderly whose immune system
is weak. +ourthly, the depletion of the o'one layer can damage the human health such as skin
cancer which is the biggest threat to their health, and also the eye disease which consists of
temporary disorders such as snow blindness and a more permanent condition such as
cataracts which have became very common. The increase in low)altitude o'one will stunt the
growth of agriculture in many places which would cause the planet to heat up.
2.3 olution
To overcome this problem, some countries have moved from using fossil fuel to using
much more on the renewable ones such as nuclear power. This has reduced its emission on
carbon dioxide as nuclear power is much cleaner but is much more expensive to build its
power plant, so not every country can afford it. %econdly, there are more
energy saving measures. %o, their household heating bills would decrease. Thirdly, more and
more people are aware of global warming they are helping the environment by planting more
trees to trap the carbon dioxide in the forest. This could make a big difference so human
should cut down less trees and plant more trees. +ourthly, scientists are currently developing
a car that could run on hydrogen to replace the petrol and diesel for the vehicles. This could
help the earth as there will be less carbon emission in the atmosphere and could reduce the
heat on earth which could save a lot of living things.
3
3.0 Conclusion
"s a conclusion, global warming is a danger to every living things and it is due to the
causes of human activities. $ue to the sudden change of climate and the earth becoming warmer,
there are a lot of diseases that are spread which is because of the drought and flood. "nd many
homes are submerged. ,lants and animals shift from their habitat to another to survive. The arctic
and "ntarctic are becoming warmer, this will result to the melting of glaciers. The sea level will
rise and cause the coastal areas to flood. #umans should stop cutting down trees or they could
plant trees to replace it, or there will not be much trees in future and the danger of global
warming will be worse as there will be a lot of deaths. #umans should use renewable resources
as this could save our environment. (e should do everything we can to save our planet from
disasters as we are the ones who started it in the first place.
