Draft System

START DRAFT SYSTEM SEQUENCE

1) ID Fan Start
All the isolation dampers in the air path and flue gas path are open to ensure a clear flow
path through the boiler ducts.
ID fan inlet damper open.
ID fan outlet damper closed.
ID fan inlet control blade at minimum flow position.
FD fan inlet damper open.
FD fan outlet damper closed.
FD fan inlet control blade at minimum flow position.
ID Fan cooling air fan in operation.
ID fan lube oil system in service.
CCW system in operation and cooler inlet / outlet valves open.
ID fan start.
Verify no vibration exists, electrical indications and temperatures are normal.
ID fan outlet damper open.
As per furnace reaches pre-set value, place ID fan inlet control blade controller in auto
mode.
2) FD Fan Start
FD fan outlet damper closed.
FD fan inlet control blade at minimum flow position.
FD fan lube oil system in service.
CCW system in operation and cooler inlet / outlet valves open.
ID fan is in operation.
FD fan start.
Verify no vibration exists, electrical indications and temperatures are normal.
FD fan outlet damper open.

As per air flow through furnace reaches pre-set value, place FD fan inlet control blade
controller in auto mode.
3) Seal Air Fan Start
CCW system in operation and bearing cooling water inlet / outlet line valves open.
Check the FD fan is running.
Select seal air fan as main & stand-by.
The damper at suction duct at upstream of filter open.
Seal air fan start.
The damper at suction duct downstream of filter auto open.
Verify seal air fan start, bearing temperatures are normal.
Select the stand-by seal air fan in auto mode.
4) PA Fan Start
PA fan outlet damper closed.
PA fan inlet control blade at minimum flow position.
PA fan lube oil system in service.
CCW system in operation and cooler inlet / outlet valves open.
ID fan and FD fan in operation.
Mill system is ready and seal air fan in operation
PA fan start.
PA fan outlet damper open.
Verify no vibration exists, electrical indications and temperatures are normal.
5) SCAH into Service
Check before Charging of SCAH
The secondary air supply through the secondary SCAH is established.
The primary air supply through the primary SCAH is established.
Ensure auxiliary steam header is charged.

OPEN the inlet isolation valve (12LBG76AA501, 12LBG75BR501) in auxiliary steam

line to SCAH.

OPEN the isolation valve (12LBG67AA501) in condensate line from SCAH flash tank.

Ensure that the power supply to motor of motor operated valves in auxiliary steam lines
and condensate lines is available.
Ensure that motor operated valve (12LBG67AA202) in condensate line from SCAH flash
tank to Condenser is OPEN.
Operational Steps
Open the secondary SCAH auxiliary steam inlet line motor operated valves
(12LBG76AA201, 12LBG76AA202) from local.
Open the primary SCAH auxiliary steam inlet line motor operated valves
(12LBG75AA201, 12LBG75AA202) from local.
Select the condensate line motor operated control valve (12LBG67AA001) in auto
mode.

Furnace Purging:
Referring to the relevant auxiliary regulation, it should start the air heater, ID fan, and FD fan
orderly to clean the boiler furnace, the ID fan static impeller and FD fan dynamic impeller
should also be adjusted to meet the furnace pressure and air amount requirement.
The furnace purging sequence are as follows:

All air and flue ducts are in operation.

Select the ID fan A for purging and ID fan B as standby.

Select the FD fan A for purging and FD fan B as standby.

Close the ID fan A outlet damper and select its inlet control blade to zero flow
position.

Open the ID fan B outlet damper and select its inlet control blade to full flow
position.

Close the FD fan A outlet damper and select its inlet control blade to zero flow
position.

Open the FD fan B outlet damper and select its inlet control blade to full flow
position.

Start the ID fan A and open the outlet damper, the impeller blade will be adjusted by
operator.

Start the FD fan A and open the outlet damper, the inlet control blade will be
adjusted by operator.

Close the ID fan B outlet damper and select its inlet control blade to zero flow
position.

Close the FD fan B outlet damper and select its inlet control blade to zero flow
position.

The furnace pressure will be controlled to the safety range by adjusting the ID fan A
inlet control blade. In the meanwhile, the furnace air flow could be increased to the
required blowing amount by adjusting FD fan A inlet control blade.

Select the ID fan A inlet control blade in auto mode to maintain the normal furnace
pressure.

As the air flow for 30% BMCR is reached, select the FD fan inlet control blade in auto
mode.

The furnace blowing has been continuously taken for 5 min.

The main fuel trip out signal is not allowed to be re-set until the furnace blowing procedure is
fully complete. The furnace is required to be blown in case that the main fuel is tripped out,
and/or all FD fans are out of service, and/or the all igniter and feeder are out of the service or
tripped out after the main fuel has been burnt. Normally, the main fuel, auxiliary fuel and fuel
feeding system should be either tripped out or shut down when the furnace is blowing.

Pump
There is two way to open the pump (first pump & stand-by pump) discharge valve are as below:
1) The first pump will be started with discharge valve (first pump & stand-by pump) in closed
condition. Then will open the discharge valve (first pump & stand-by pump) manually.
2) The first pump will be started with discharge valve (first pump) in closed condition and standby pump discharge valve in open condition. After start of first pump discharge valve will be open
manually.

In above both cases, there is no difference. This is only choice of operation personel. We have
followed option 1) in our document.
