PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Education Management Corporation (EDMC), Pittsburgh, PA
2001 - Present
Regional Director of Technology (2008-Present), Director of Technology (2001-2008)
EDMC is a for-profit provider of higher education with 100+ campuses across the US. My team provides
operational leadership, strategic technology planning, and technology capital budgeting for these campuses.
Directly I am responsible for managing 3 direct and 55 support professionals at 20 sites across the central US with a
$15 million operating/capital budget. I serve as business relations manager for IT with corporate presidents and vicepresidents, including working with senior directors on the development and deployment of strategic technology
programs, processes, and plans.

Directed corporate capital budgeting and forecasting for 100+ campus sites across US in line with strategic
technology plans, which included the preparation of the annual $20 million campus capital technology budget
using a zero based line item approach. Conservatively, we saved $5 million annually by directly aligning the
budgetary process with the corporate strategic plans and initiatives.
Provided corporate oversight and control of the capital budget expenditures throughout the fiscal year. In
coordination with corporate procurement we used existing accounting/procurement system to confirm approved
budgetary expenditures with actual submission procurements and maintained forecasted expenditures to budget.
The development of division reorganization plans for EDMC Director of Campus Technology, encompassing the
creation of staffing models for our system divisions to achieve corporate cost containment through targeted
reduction in force. Over three consecutive years of work force reductions our targeted work force changes saved
approximately $1 million annually while our customer satisfaction ratings increased in each of those years.
Led project support for system and division wide initiatives requiring a broad range of scope, and technical and
managerial expertise. These projects included:
o The development and deployment of ITIL-based quality assurance system standards for IT Service
Management (ITSM). Using the ITIL service support life cycle, we continually review our processes and
standards to effectively practice IT Service Management. The incorporation of the life cycle model provided
the service quality framework for us to effectively achieve customer satisfaction despite our reduction in
force.
o Cloud-based SAAS solutions that reduced the reliance on internal IT resources while delivering needed
customer-focus services. Led projects from discovery stage through all corporate and financial approvals,
these included a new cloud based library management system used at all EDMC sites. And a new cloud
based system to manage equipment check-out and asset control for small gear inventory of $40 million.
o Deployment of corporate incident management ticketing system: Consolidated 100 sites into corporate help
desk system.
Evaluated vendor products and services
Provided on-going evaluation of technical competency; assisted in developing technology training initiatives.
Through-out my tenure, we have re-evaluated our standards, our metrics, and our support models. We have
changed organizational structure and increased communications with our stake holders initiating and managing
change to achieve greater customer satisfaction, increased IT efficiencies, and reduced costs.
