Introduction
Indian spices include a variety of spices grown across the Indian
subcontinent (a sub-region of South Asia). With different climates in
different parts of the country, India produces a variety of spices, many
of which are native to the Subcontinent, while others were imported
from similar climates and have since been cultivated locally for
centuries.
Spices are used in different forms - whole, chopped, ground, roasted, sauteed, fried and
as topping. They blend food to extract the nutrients and bind them in a palatable form.
Some spices are added at the end as flavouring and are typically heated in a pan
with ghee or cooking oil before being added to a dish. Lighter spices are added last, and
spices with strong flavour should be added first. Curry is not a spice, but a term used by
western people and refers to any dish in Indian cuisine that contains several spices blended
together and could be with a gravy base or a dry item.

History
Bakaran, Jayabalan and Sithan are thick friends who came from Penang with poor
background, but business were bulid by their own blood. They
started small, with a stationary outlet, but they were not afraid
to dream big. The next step was a grocery business, the Shrema
Trading Company, which he established in 1968. In 1976, they
started a distribution business, which gave them valuable
lessons in logistics and supply chain management. Their first
independent product, ShremaProducts faced setbacks because
of the uncertainties of international prices.

Shrema is the preferred choice of every Malaysian

When Shrema Products ventured into the industry, ready-made spices and mixes had
already been around for quite a while. It was the general belief however that authentic
taste was a necessary sacrifice of convenience, and the reason why the traditional "homemade blends" remained the preferred choice in most kitchens. There was doubt too of the
suitability of these products for vegetarian consumption.
As consumers ourselves, fussy ones at that - we believed that while convenience was a
necessity, aroma and flavor is of highest importance. This is what drove us to capture the
very essence of those traditional family recipes, using the finest ingredients from around the
world. State-of-the-art production and hygienic packaging techniques ensure that our range
of products adhere to the strictest international standards. A commitment to ensure that
non-vegetarian ingredients or flavor enhancers are not used in our products, leaves us
relying instead only on the finest quality ingredients from around the world
