INTRODUCTION

In order to make GPS support Vehicle precision approach

and landing of civil aviation as the main means, the system
needed a further improvement in positioning accuracy,
continuity, integrity and availability.
In the nineties of twentieth century, the local area
augmentation system which using carrier smooth and
difference positioning technology was put forward, it was so
greatly enhanced the accuracy of GPS that addressing the
related fields scholars and civil aviation bodies extensive
attention. The main purpose of integrity monitoring was to
guarantee the system operating at the normal state and
improve the credibility of navigation data.

BACKGROUND

As the development of the information technology, using

the principle of Global Positioning System (GPS) [1-3]for
reference, such as the traffic GPS management system, the
QUASI---GPS ultrasonic location system which is a novel
location system. At present, some notable new
improvements of satellite navigation systems and their
vehicle application systems all over the world are as
follows:
A.

Location Based Service

Put forward by E911 of America, this kind of business

which is applied mainly about personal safety holding that
mobile phones should have the ability of location. Primarily,
Cellular network was used to realize the function of
location. Whereas, it has proved to be very difficult.
As the rapid development of new technology, the way of
combining network addressing and GPS seems to be an
excellent resolution (A-GPS), which has good performances
and can be implemented easily. This method can not only be
implemented in and out of the door or city, but also in 2G,
2.5G, 3G telecommunication networks at low prices. The

The world's smallest chip-level GPS receiver module

Embedded in cellular phones and PDAs with the size of

Ilmmx14mm merely,GPS2020 module specially used for
wireless Internet has been developed by the new chip
recently. This module consists of 12 digital radio channels,
specialties of which include: on board radio, 8MB flash, low
noise amplifier (LNA) and GPS crystal oscillator.
Besides to extend the corresponding its applications and its
functions, a 32-bit 50MHz processor is applied. Owing to
all of that, the appearance of this module indicates the GPS
consumer products and embedded integrated system will
step into a new period of development.
C.

Language navigator

This kind of navigator produced by Pronounced

Technologies and an American company applies audio to
the Man-Machine interface of communications. What's
more, it can combine the GPS navigator with the stereo and
CD systems deployed in the car. All the commands,
including the road hint and information feedback, are
expressed by audio. This system can be made very small to
serve as a road guider for the blind.
D.

Vehicle Information System

As the emergence of the Vehicle Information System

Telematics by Motorola is integrated with vehicle
navigation and track, as well as mobile navigation system of
personal navigation and vehicle, such as hand held navigator
deployed by the map and some digital angels composed of
GPS/GSM and PDA, the development potential and
admiring prospect of vehicle information system is very
bright.

THE INTEGRITY MONITORING MODEL

To build the GPS vehicle system model[4-6] is to solve these

problems as following: the problem of distance estimation
between location object and location base-stations and
taking the status parameter including position, velocity,
pose angle and so on.

The system model is made up of monitoring center, wireless

communication network and On Board Unit.
A.

Monitoring center

Monitoring center is the core of the whole system, and it can

be designed to be distributed monitoring centers according
to its scale. Acted as the hinge of communications as well,
monitoring center is responsible for the follows: information
communications with the GPS On Board Unit, network
interconnections between each center, classification,
recording and forwarding of all kinds of information, the
flow of transaction information among sub centers, and the
monitoring management of the state of the whole network at
the same time.
In order to realize the intelligent dispatch of vehicles and
then achieve the aims of strengthening vehicle management,
improving dispatch efficiency and reducing the operating
costs, technologies of call center, wireless data
communication and wireless audio communication
combinations of GIS and GPS On Board Unit, as well a
way of call answering and dispatch forms are adopted. The
monitoring center will also receive the vehicle information
uploaded by the GPS On board Unit and then provide some
measures such as track addressing, listen recording, remote
control and so on. In addition, the monitoring center is also
a platform for storage, redisplay and analysis of traffic data.

Wireless communication network IS an information

exchange channel between GPS On Board Unit and the
monitoring center. On one hand, it sends some information
such as GPS position signal, calling for help and service
request back to the center timely and accurately. On the
other hand, it sends some information such as
acknowledgement, service and control that are from the
center to the mobile end timely and accurately.

THE

PRINCIPLE OF THE GPS VEHICLE SYSTEM

Car terminal equipment is the front-end equipment of GPS

vehicle monitoring management system P - 81 It is installed in
a vehicle being monitored. Vehicle terminal can also be
installed in a variety of vehicles secretly. Together with the
vehicle's asphalt, circuit, magnetic, and anti-theft devices, it
can control the vehicle in a full range.
Car terminal equipment is mainly composed of following
varies external devices: the GPS receiver, GSM / GPRS
transceiver, the main control module and vehicle anti-theft
devices, external probe etc.
GPS module receives the positioning signals of satellite, and
then it can figure out its own position (longitude, latitude,
altitude), time and motion status (speed, heading), send to
the single chip once a second and store in it to provide
location information at any time. MCU single chip controls
coordination of the entire car desk. GSM / GPRS module
take the responsibility of wireless transmission. FSK is
partly responsible for the information as data modulation
and demodulation , instruction data of receiving center and
alarms of the launch vehicle etc. Voice control part is used
for controlling hands-free microphone headset, listening
MIC, buffering, amplification, matching and conversing
FSK modulation/demodulation signals etc.
Digital logic control part is used for a variety of input and
output electrical level, the buffer and driver of pulse signals
. Power supply and power control part is used for
automatically switching over the auto level and reserve
level, stabilizing filtering and controlling sleep or awake
through the keys and the alarm trigger. Car anti-theft
equipment is partly responsible for the collecting and

On Board Unit

On Board Unit is mainly made up of GPS receiver unit,

GSM wireless communication unit, control unit, record unit
and antenna.GPS On Board Unit could build a two-way
information transmission channel with the monitoring center
with the help of GSM wireless communication network.
This Unit inspects the state of vehicles by the GPS position
signal received, then sends the state data to the monitoring
center and controls the vehicles by the dispatch information
or control data received from the monitoring center.
Simultaneously, On Board Unit will make a note of the
traffic state data in time for post-processing.
