Here you need to show
how independent and
creative you can be in by
showing individuality and
the use of sources to
increase the quality of your
visual recording skills and
show a deeper
understanding of
communication visually.
This means you
understand how to use
critical studies as a tool to
be innovative
It is important to show
your own style here and
document references to
several artists that has
inspired you to create
your individual styles

Miskin Arts
P3.
Compare: and discuss visual recording that is being used in comic books or
childrens books.
For example; you could compare the difference between comic strip artwork from
two completely different parts of the world. You can use the Critical Studies guide to
help you here
Visual recording: Look at contrasting styles, materials, meaning, mood,
communication and formal elements
Spatial information: Look at how they have used perspective and camera
angles, panning, close ups and details to tell a story expressively
Storytelling: Look at how they have used storyboards and generated ideas for
visual narrative illustration
Different audiences: Look at how they have aimed their artwork to particular
target groups
P4.
You are now starting up with some ideas for your own story. Along the
way whilst you develop and improve, change and enhance these ideas
you need to show that you understand your own visual recording.
Visual recording means mark-making and formal elements, such from observed
studies, primary and secondary, media materials, techniques and using
technology, visual language, lay out, composition, gutter, margins and
typography
Evaluate: interim, final; formal e.g. tutorials, final project evaluation; informal,
critique sessions, discussions, peer and self-assessment; You can work
together with others to help out with ideas and developments
P5.
Develop: your own Comic Strip or Childrens Book including your own
characters which you have created from scratch. Make sure you understand
all restrictions in the DESIGN BRIEF
Use your own hand made artwork, photography, scans, InDesign and
Photoshop to create your own layout and typography outcomes
Analyse, refine, explore, potential, composition, (viewpoint, cropping, enlarging,
lighting, movement, structure, balance, arrangement), modify (edit, adjust,
clarify, augment, enhance, emphasise, rearrange), feedback
Produce outcomes: Comic Strip or artwork for Childrens Book in printed
format for display. Upload as JPEG in Tumblr
