Conversion of SICAM PAS V6.xx Projects

General Information

A log file PAS_Database_Conversion_V600toV700.log is created for the conversion from

V6.00 to V7.00.
This log file can be found in the directory %PAS_TEMP%" of the SICAM PAS/PQS installation.
The V6.xx project is automatically converted to V7.00 (independent of the hotfix or service pack).
Only the following characters are allowed for the computer name in V7.00:
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz1234567890_
If the computer name is incompatible, the plausibility check automatically marks it in red.
The static items of information _msgTx, _msgRx, _rxErrors, _respFail have been removed from all device
templates and replaced by new static items of information. Check/correct the mapping of these items of
information.

Other manual changes must only be done in exceptional cases (see log file).
Some of the Add-on logs for the V6.00 are included in the V7.00 standard and are converted
automatically. All the others are deleted:

Normalization/Threshold-Value Processing

The threshold-value processing that must be configured in normalization has been changed for a
high number of protocols.
Previously, a value was only transmitted if the parameterized threshold was violated or in a
time-out of the additionally set time. Now, the following procedure is used:
The protocol driver remembers the delta to the last transmitted value and calculates a sum of the
deltas (integration process). As soon as the sum exceeds the set threshold value, the actual
value is transmitted, and the sum is reset. As a measured value is subject to small variations, this
procedure assures that the value is transmitted periodically. The time that must be set is thus
obsolete and no longer used.
For technical reasons, the protocols were not all converted to the new procedure. The protocols
TG8979 Slave, CDT Slave, PROFIBUS FMS, PROFIBUS DP, ILSA Master and all the OPC
protocols still use the former procedure.

- Start Tc Address
- End Tc Address
- Scan priority
(see also: online help)
Check necessary:
The group level has been fundamentally changed. In older SICAM PAS versions, a scan group
was configured indirectly because of the values assigned in the mapping. In the actual SICAM
PAS/PQS version, a scan group is configured using the Class Type (function code used: FC 01
/ 02 / 03 / 04) and the Request Modes (Single Point/Range/Count). Thus, more detailed scans
with different query cycles are possible.
Observe the following points:
RTU supports range scans with gaps.
Example: A group with a range from address 1-100 is configured but in the RTU, only the
addresses 1-10 and 30-100 have been configured. In some cases this can lead to a faulty
answer (only Error code available in Response no data are transferred). Then, the group must
be divided into 2 groups: One group with an address range from 1-10 and a second group with
30-100.
All groups available before the conversion are deleted during the conversion. Some settings of
the deleted groups are used to configure the newly created groups (Period (Scan Rate)/Function
Codes/value addresses).
The log file created during a conversion contains a detailed note if this case concerns your V6.00
project to be converted.
3.2.14.4 Value Level
Check necessary:
The addresses of each value are corrected with an offset of -1 during the conversion. The
actual SICAM PAS/PQS version uses the addresses without correction factors used in the
protocol. This allows uniform behavior towards the Modbus Slave.
The Information structure parameter is available for 32-bit types in monitoring and command
direction.
Check necessary:
The data types have also been fundamentally changed:
Changes for the following data types have been implemented:
Protocol Information Type in monitoring direction,
- SP has been changed to SP_FC1, SP_FC2
- DP has been changed to DP_FC2, DP_FC2
- IT has been changed to IT_I16_FC3, IT_I32_FC3, IT_I16_FC4, IT_I32_FC4
- ME_F has been changed to ME_F32_FC3, ME_F32_FC4
- ME_I (AIN), ME_I (RIN), ME_U (AIN) have been changed to
ME_I32_FC3, ME_I32_FC4, ME_I16_FC3, ME_I16_FC4.
Additionally, the following points were implemented
- SP_I16_FC3 and SP_I16_FC4
(Single Point can be scanned with FC3 and FC4)
Protocol Information Type in command direction:
- SC has been changed to SP_FC5
- DC has been changed to DP_FC15
- SE_AI has been changed to SE_I16_FC6
- SE_AFL has been changed to SE_F32_FC16
- SE_AL has been changed to SE_I32_FC16

3.2.15 Modbus Slave

3.2.15.1 Interface Level
For information:
On the interface level, the serial value has been changed to COM port in the Interface Type
parameter.
The Application timeout parameter (formerly on the control-center level) is now available as an
interface parameter.

3.2.16 SINAUT LSA ILSA Master

For information:
No problems are known concerning the conversion of V6.xx projects.

3.2.17 Telegyr 8979 Slave

For information:
No problems are known concerning the conversion of V6.xx projects.

3.2.18 OPC Server

For information:
The Terminate server automatically parameter is deleted during the conversion of older
projects.

3.2.19 SICAM SCC

3.2.19.1 General Information
For information:
During the conversion the content (interface level) of the first SICAM SCC DIP of the SICAM
PAS project is moved to the Full Server and the IP address of the DIP is entered as the device
address of the SICAM SCC control center.
Processing necessary:
The other SICAM SCC connections are converted manually as it is not possible to decide during
the conversion whether further DIPs are redundant SICAM SCC or single SICAM SCC
connections.
- For redundant SICAM SCC connections on 2 DIPs in V6.00, enter only the IP address of the
2nd DIP into the communication settings of the converted control center under SICAM SCC
2. Afterwards, you can delete the DIP.
After that, export the data for SICAM SCC from the control center and import these data into
your WinCC project. Note that you must adapt the variables whose name contains the
InterfaceID for the graphic objects and scripts. Then, the WinCC project can be duplicated
on the redundancy partner with the WinCC Project Duplicator. In a redundant project, no
SICAM-specific adjustments and no data import are necessary anymore.
- For independent SICAM SCC connections you can move the interface from the SICAM SCC
DIP into the SICAM SCC application on the Full Server. Configure the IP address of the
SICAM SCC computer (address of the DIP in V6.00) on the control-center level. Afterwards,
you can delete the DIP.
Export the data for SICAM SCC from the control center and import these data into your
WinCC project. Note that you must adapt the variables whose name contains the InterfaceID
for the graphic objects and scripts.
After the conversion is finished you should change at least one parameter of the SICAM SCC
Interface, i.e. set the IP address which is used to communicate with the SICAM SCC System.
3.2.19.2 Configuration Differences
For information:
In contrast to SICAM PAS V6.0, the SICAM SCC connections are configured on the Full Server
and not on the DIP anymore.

On the interface level you configure the assignment of the switching authority group, the IP
address of the network interface card of the Full Server over which the communication shall
take place (this is also the address that must be entered at the SICAM SCC channel for the
SICAM PAS) and the port number.
On the interface level you configure the IP addresses of the SICAM SCC computer(s) and
the channel-monitoring time. (Make sure that the same channel-monitoring time is set in
SICAM SCC.
Redundant SICAM SCC systems are configured as a control center, the 2 IP addresses of
the SICAM SCC computers are entered in the communication settings.
Independent SICAM SCC systems that shall be connected to a SICAM PAS are configured
in separate interfaces. In this way a different assignment of switching authority groups is
possible.

Conversion of SICAM PAS V5.11 Projects

3.3.1

General Information

A log file is created during the conversion from V5.11 to V6.00.

This log file can be found in the archives directory of the SICAM PAS installation, under
%PAS_APPDATA%\Database\Archives.
If you have used predefined device templates (Sample Devices), these templates are renamed
as Sample Device V5.xx (no longer used). Unused device templates will be deleted and new
device templates are added.
F-STI normalizations will be deleted as they are no longer supported by SICAM PAS/PQS
V7.00 onwards. The log information type SP_E can be used instead.
Example: SP or EVENT => SP_E.
For more detailed information on activities required, refer to the log file.
If status information (_Opr, _Adm, _BlkOpr or _BlkAdm) of a control-center connection
(interface/device) has been used, the routing must be checked/corrected.

3.3.2

DNP 3.0 Slave

The 'Deadband' parameter does not exist anymore in SICAM PAS V6.00 (or later).
This function must be realized with a normalization from SICAM PAS V6.00 (or later).
The 'EngMin', 'EngMax', 'RawMin', 'RawMax parameters do not exist anymore in SICAM
PAS/PQS V6.00 (or later). This function must be realized with normalization from SICAM
PAS/PQS V6.00 (or later).
Many of the parameters for the interface and the control center have been changed in SICAM
PAS V6.00 (or later). New parameters have been added and former settings are not available
anymore.
For some parameters that existed with the same or similar meaning, default settings are set
during the conversion.
For some parameters the range of value has been reduced from SICAM PAS V6.00 (or later). If
the former values are outside the range of values valid for SICAM PAS V6.00 or if they are
marked as faulty, adapt these values. Set the baud rate again and select one of the proposed
values from the list box.
Therefore you must control all the parameters for the interface and the control center and
possibly adapt them.
The 'BO' ('DNPSlaveBitPattern32') information type is deleted and no longer available in SICAM
PAS/PQS V6.00 (or later). All items of information assigned to this type are no longer assigned
after the conversion and must be mapped again.
For more detailed information on activities required, refer to the log file.

3.3.3

SICAM SCC

If a SICAM SCC device is assigned an item of information which includes a semicolon in the
name and is mapped to the 'Alarm Logging System', this device cannot be copied after the
conversion.
The following solution is available:
1. Remove the mapping of effected items of information (column Use) and map the items

again. The mapping to the Alarm logging system, tag management, and archive system
must be performed again manually. The semicolons are replaced.
2. Afterwards, an export to SICAM SCC must be performed.

Notes on Installation

Siemens recommends using the same logon on all computers (Full Server and DIP) of a system.
In exceptional cases, the installation of the Sentinel System Driver Installer 7.5.7 can fail.
This is communicated by the error message A dongle error has occurred in the SICAM
PAS/PQS Feature Enabler after entering the correct license key.
Details on this problem and the steps for resolving it are available as configuration information
281.

4.2

Print Preview

To optimize the display of the print preview, install a driver of a physical/actual printer or the
Adobe PDF printer driver on the SICAM PAS/PQS computer.
NOTE
The application supports printer driver DPI settings up to 600dpi.

4.3

Helpful Configurations

During the configuration creation only basic checks are implemented with the SICAM PAS/PQS
UI Configuration.component
For example, if you have created a scan group Class 0/1/2/3 Scan in the DNP 3.0 Master with a
polling rate of 2 s, but you use a transmission rate of 9600 baud/s on the interface level and the
RTU has a range of 1000 values, then it is technically impossible to receive all data points during
this period.
In this case, an overflow of the groups will happen which may cause a cyclic device failure.
Make sure that the time-outs are set to a reasonable value combined with Number of
unsuccessful connection attempts. An apparent disturbance may occur, especially in the case
of a redundant configuration.
Example: If a group has the Number of unsuccessful connection attempts set to 10 and a
time-out of 2000 ms, an RTU will only be marked as failed after 20 s and a switchover will be
initiated.

4.4

Unavailable Devices

Devices that cannot be accessed in the network should not be started from SICAM PAS/PQS UI
Operation.
The Windows operating systems (XP from SP2 on, XP embedded SICAM Station Unit V2.20)
allow for up to 10 TCP connections in Sync state. If the TCP/IP based communication protocols
cannot access a device via the network, then the connection stays in the Sync state until
time-out.
If 10 TCP connections are already in Sync state, no further TCP connections can be opened
during this time. Under such circumstances it may happen that other SICAM PAS/PQS drivers
cannot be started, since these drivers also set up a TCP connection to the DSI server internally.

4.5

Font on the Screen

SICAM PAS/PQS uses a font optimized for Windows 7. Under Windows XP Professional it may
be necessary to optimize the display of the typeface according to the screen resolution. To do
this, open Control Panel -> Display -> View. You can open a further dialog using Effects. In
this dialog you can change the font smoothing using the option Use the following method to
smooth fonts on the screen.

Note: This setting has an influence on all the applications of the computer.

4.6

SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operate

If you change the Redundancy(System or Interface), Computer name, or IP address

parameters, take care of the following:
If the SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation application is open during this action, close this
application and reopen it. If you do not do so, this may result in erroneous displays of system
states or components in the application SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation.

4.7

PROFIBUS FMS Master

PROFIBUS FMS Master may only be used with SIMATIC NET 2008 (V7.1).
PROFIBUS FMS Master is not SIMATIC NET 2010 (V8) compatible and cannot be used with
64-bit operating systems.
The GSD files for SIPROTEC 4 devices are included in the scope of delivery of DIGSI.
The GSD files must be copied into the C:\Siemens\SIMATIC.NET\ComPB.nt\gsd SIMATIC NET
directory.
All device templates for the device variants of 6MB525 are included in the scope of delivery.
(%PUBLICDOCUMENTS%Siemens Energy\SICAM PAS
PQS\DeviceDescriptions\ProfibusFMS)
For more detailed information, see: Configuration Info 269
If a communications processor SIMATIC CP5613 (A2) is used combined with system
redundancy, only one PROFIBUS FMS Master may be entered as a timing master.
For system redundancy the time synchronization is always effected with just one PROFIBUS
FMS Master. The timing master must be configured on the master system. The time
synchronization is always established with this system, regardless of which system works as the
master at this time. If the master system fails or if it is not connected to the network anymore,
then there is no time synchronization of the connected devices.
Stop the interface in SICAM PAS/PQS U Operation before removing the PROFIBUS cable
from the PROFIBUS interface card.
Stop the interface in SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation before updating the system with changed
configuration.

4.8

PROFIBUS DP Master

The GSD files for SIPROTEC 4 devices are included in the scope of delivery of DIGSI.
The GSD files must be copied into the C:\Siemens\SIMATIC.NET\ComPB.nt\gsd SIMATIC NET
directory.
Stop the interface in SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation before removing the PROFIBUS cable
from the PROFIBUS interface card.

4.9

OPC Client

The length of the access paths for the items is restricted to 256 characters.
The Deadband indication for analog values device parameter can only be used with the
following restriction:
For analog values the OPC server has no configurable upper limit (EU High) and lower limit (EU
Low) of the value, but only fixed values (upper limit = 100, lower limit = 0).

The OPC client supports the 'Data Access' DA 1, DA 2.05, and DA 3.0 OPC specifications.

4.10 OPC Server

Siemens recommends a volume of information of up to 5000 values.
Following installation, the identity of the SIEMENS SICAM PAS/PQS OPC DA Server must be
set to Interactive Users with the dcomcnfg.exe program. If the OPC Server has not been
installed in the Feature Enabler, the OPC Server cannot start.
The OPC Server supports the 'Data Access' DA 1, DA 2.05 and DA 3.0 OPC specifications.

4.11 IEC 60870-5-101 Slave

By default, fleeting indications are assigned the protocol information type EP_A (TI 17). If
necessary, the protocol type must be set to SP (TI 1 / 2).
Siemens recommends adjusting the default setting in ME_NC (TI 13 / 14) for the transmission of
float measured values.
During the redundancy implementation, the communications logs have been fundamentally
changed with regard to configuration and runtime behavior.
The Event buffer size digital parameter is used to set the event-log buffers for all the digital data
types. The Event buffer size analog parameter is used to set the event-log buffers for all the
analog data types.
The Standby Buffer Time Span parameter defines how long the standby partner stores new
received events if an active partner is available. Upon the expiry of this time it is assumed that
the events were transferred and that they can thus be deleted from the standby buffer. This does
not exclude a double transfer of events.

4.11.1 X.21 Communication

The X.21 protocol with the ESCC card from the SICAM PAS V6.00 is not supported anymore.
The SEALEVEL 7106S-SN PCI serial interface card is now supported instead. The
documentation for the configuration of this card is available in the Intranet.

4.12 IEC 60870-5-104 Slave

By default, fleeting indications are assigned the protocol information type EP_A (TI 17). If
necessary, the protocol type must be set to SP (TI 1 / 2).

4.13.1 Dial-Up Traffic
If you use the dial-up traffic with Windows XP from SP2 on, failures occur if the modem is
disconnected from the computer during operation. If the modem is disconnected from the
computer and is reconnected to the computer afterwards, the modem is not detected anymore.
This is also valid if the modem has been switched off.
To be able to use the modem again, perform one of the 2 following steps:
- The computer must be rebooted.
- The modem must be reinstalled.
To do this, stop the corresponding interface in SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation. Afterwards,
uninstall the modem and install it again (with the same default name). You can now restart
the interface which was previously stopped in the SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation.
To solve this problem, Microsoft provides a hotfix with the number KB 899418.
See also SICAM PAS/PQS Homepage/Sales and Engineering Infos: T101 Master Dialup
Windows XP SP2 (Projectierungsinfo_194.pdf).
Please contact Microsoft with the number given above.
The SICAM miniRTU can be connected as a substation via dial-up mode.
SICAM EMIC substations can be connected via dial-up mode using the INSYS Pocket Modem
56k. If you need this function, contact your Siemens contact partner.

4.13.2 Data-Flow Control for Serial RS232 Connections

Note that the RTS Signal lead time and RTS Signal overtravel parameters that are active for
the Switched setting only have the desired effect if full control over the serial module is given.
In most cases this is not valid for COM-port-Expanders sent via TCP/IP.
Before using the COM-port Expanders, Siemens recommends that you clarify with the
manufacturers of the corresponding devices if and how the devices support the corresponding
control of the RTS and CTS signals.
The behavior of the RTS signal overtravel time parameter can change if 200 ms are exceeded.
If the RTS signal overtravel time is greater than 200 ms and the telegram sequence to be sent
is selected too close, for example channel-monitoring time or poll sequence, then the RTS
signal is present during the close telegram sequence without interruption.

4.14 IEC 60870-5-103 Master

4.14.1 Monitoring License
If you use the IEC 60870-5-103 Master Monitor. License, no command must be configured!

4.14.2 Measured-Value Scaling

Measured values of protection devices are usually transferred in a range from -240 % to 0 % to
+240 %. Therefore the range of value -4096 to 0 to +4095 of the measured values in the
telegram is transferred to the system by default with -2.4 to 0 to +2.4 for the IEC 60870-5-103
Master.
In contrast, measured values of SIMEAS T devices (range of value -4096 to 0 to +4095) are
mapped to the range of value -120 % to 0 % to +120 %. They are transferred to the system in the
range of value -1.2 to 0 to +1.2.
To transfer another range of values to the system, a value-selective normalization must be
configured.

4.14.3 Measured-Value Thresholds

The device-wide unique parameter for a measured-value threshold is not supported anymore.
This means that every measured value received is transferred to the system, regardless of the
importance of the changes since the last transfer. Instead, value-selective threshold processing
for measured values is possible via a normalization.

4.14.4 System and Statistics Indications

Status indications and some statistics indications from former SICAM PAS versions are not
supported anymore. They get lost during the conversion of old stations.
The SYS_NewFaultRecord status indication is new.
A cleared indication (value = 1) means the beginning of a failure transfer. A raising indication
(value = 2) is emitted after the end of the transfer and the archiving of the failure.
The following items of statistics information are also available:
- SYS_MessageReceiveCounter
- SYS_MessageSendCounter
- SYS_MessageTimeoutCounter
- SYS_MessageErrorReceiveCounter
These items of information are available on the device and the interface level.
These system and statistics indications are always provided automatically.

4.14.5 Status Commands

The _sysCMD_Redundancy_Activation status command (independent redundancy) has been
introduced especially for Siemens protection devices with a redundant interface. These devices
allow full functionality on only one of the 2 channels. In redundant configurations (interface or
system redundancy) this command is automatically sent to the device via the actual main
channel in case of a start or a redundancy switchover. In this case the command is sent as a
regular command with the default address (function type=100, information number=10).
This command must only be activated for Siemens protection devices with redundant interfaces
and is required then. In this case, the address 100/10 is not allowed for regular commands.

4.14.6 SIMEAS T
SIMEAS T devices require a special communication type. This communication type is set with
the Device type = SIMEAS T device parameter.

4.14.7 Hidden Parameters

Some parameters are/were only used in exceptional cases. Therefore they are not displayed in
the SICAM PAS/PQS UI Configuration by default. They are:
- Commandtermination:
Only for devices with COT=67 as Command Termination
- FaultRecordTimeout:
Only for protection device with extremely delayed
fault-record processing
- MainDeviceAddress:
Only with busbar protection
After consultation these parameters can be displayed and modified in SICAM PAS/PQS UI
Configuration.

4.15 IEC 60870-5-104 Master and SICAM MIC Master

If SICAM MIC (Terminal Module for microcontrol) devices are used and connected with the
SICAM PAS/PQS in the SICAM PAS IO Module (IEC 60870-5-101/104) compatibility mode,
these devices must be equipped with firmware version 22 at least.

4.16 IEC 61850 Client

4.16.1 Monitoring License
If you use the IEC 61850 Client Monitor. License, no command must be configured!

4.16.2 Metered Values

Metered values in IEC 61850 are integer values (Integer) with a 128-bit resolution. Additionally,
they have a floating-point scaling factor.
- Since SICAM PAS/PQS does not support floating-point metered values, no scaling is
performed.
- The values are restricted to 31 bits with sign. If the value falls below -231 or exceeds the limit
of 231-1, the system starts again with 0, and the limited value is signaled once with
NormalRange.DsiAbnormal. This corresponds to the behavior of the
IEC 60870-5-103 application.

4.16.3 MMS Addresses Are Not Case-Sensitive

The storage of the MMS addresses of the items of information in SICAM PAS/PQS is not
case-sensitive. Items of information that only differ in upper-case or lower-case script must not
be imported.
SIPROTEC 4 devices use variable names that are not case-sensitive by default. However, you
can create user-defined variables manually. When you do this, make sure that the items of
information are unique for the reasons given above.

4.16.4 Redundancy
When you configure the IEC 61850 redundancy, make sure that you establish the desired
configuration before importing the devices. This is the only way to ensure that all the connections
are configured correctly.
When you configure the device redundancy, make sure that the IedNames of the devices
belonging together for the redundancy are defined in the IED configurator (for example, DIGSI)
according to the following scheme:
Master unit:
<IedName>
Backup unit:
<IedName>_R
In this way the import automatically recognizes devices belonging together.
If you use the device redundancy, make sure that the devices belonging together only differ in
the IedName.
The following redundancy configurations are supported:
Interface redundancy:
Device with at least 2 IEC 61850 interfaces
System redundancy:
Device with at least 1 IEC 61850 interface
2 devices with at least 1 IEC 61850 interface respectively
Full redundancy:
2 devices with at least 2 IEC 61850 interfaces respectively

4.16.5 Dependency from EN100 Firmware Versions

When you configure the redundancy, observe that the firmware versions have not all been
adapted for the SIPROTEC EN100 modules.
Old hardware EN100-E or EN100-O:
Firmware V04.08 or V04.21
New hardware EN100-E+ or EN100-O+:
Firmware V04.22

4.16.6 Exporting SCD/CID files for a 7KE85 SIPROTEC 5 device from DIGSI 5 for
SICAM PQS
Select English as the User interface language in the DIGSI 5 tool.
Export the SCD/CID files for a 7KE85 SIPROTEC 5 device.
Import these files to SICAM PQS.

4.17 IEC 61850 Server

Conflicts between SICAM PAS/PQS IEC 61850 Server and SIMATIC IEPG Help Service
When using the IEC 61850 Server application, ensure that "SIMATIC IEPG Help Service" (if
installed) is stopped and deactivated.
This service may have been installed and automatically started by DIGSI 4, DIGSI 5, or SIMATIC
NET (e.g. for PROFIBUS DP and FMS). It uses port 102, which is also needed by the IEC 61850
Server. Thus, this port cannot be opened by the IEC61850 Server and the application cannot be
started.
If the SIMATIC IEPG Help Service is installed and active, stop it.
(You can start and stop services, e.g. in Windows 7, via Computer Management > Services
and Applications > Services)

4.18 DNP 3.0 Master

In general, the master must not request any Application-Confirmation (see DNP3 standard)!
Siemens recommends not activating the Link-Confirms.

4.19 DNP 3.0 Slave

The DNP 3.0 Slave RTS signal lead time and RTS signal overtravel time interface settings
are not supported. Siemens recommends leaving the default setting unchanged.
Multi-frame Requests from the super ordinate master should be sent as User Data (Confirm). If
they are sent as User Data (No Confirm), it must be ensured that the gap between the single
frames is long enough for the slave to evaluate the telegram.
In general, the control center must not request any Application-Confirmation (see DNP3
standard)!
While the Unsolicited mode is active, confirmations on the data-link layer (Link level) must not be
simultaneously active on the master and slave side.

4.20 SNMP Client

The %PUBLICDOCUMENTS%Siemens Energy\SICAM PAS PQS\DeviceDescriptions\snmp
folder contains the templates for many usual devices.
These templates can also be used for the switches of other manufacturers, as SICAM PAS/PQS
only uses standardized SNMP addresses. All relevant configurations are therefore allowed for
port and redundancy monitoring.
The Sample Device device template contains the maximum number of data types and items of
SNMP information supported by SICAM PAS/PQS. Experienced users can edit the file in order
to remove unused indications. Since no other data types are supported, they should therefore
not be added.

The general indication combination via port and redundancy error lists in _SNMPSystemDevice
is not possible with the redundancy. Use the SoftPLC in redundant configurations to connect the
indications.
If the SNMP client processes "Link Down" messages (e.g. from a Ruggedcom switch) as
single-point indication (information type = "SP"), these messages must be inverted via
normalization.
To do so, adjust the normalization in the Templates view:
General parameters Name: "Inversion" (for example) Input
type: "Digital"
Conversion type: "Conversion"
Conversion 1. pair of values: "1:2" 2. pair of values: "2:1"
To activate the inversion, Normalization must be selected in the Normalization. column in the
Mapping view for the messages concerned This inversion must also be done if the data base
has been taken over from a SICAM PAS V6.0 project.
If the Link Down messages are described as double-pole messages (as in the standard device
templates), no inversion is necessary.
For using secure communication via SNMP V3 and Hirschmann Ethernet switches, it is not
possible to communicate with the "noAuthNoPriv" mode (without authentication and without
privacy). Only the "authNoPriv" mode (with authentication but without privacy) is supported in
Hirschmann Ethernet switches.
Conflicts between SICAM PAS/PQS SNMP and Windows SNMP Trap Service
When using the SNMP application in SICAM PAS/PQS, ensure that Windows "SNMP Trap
Service" (if installed) and all services using port 162 are stopped and deactivated.
If another SNMP service is already active, the SICAM PAS/PQS SNMP service can neither open
the listen port for the traps nor start the interface for the SNMP application.
In this case, in SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation the status of the SNMP application and the
interface will be displayed as Being started now (purple) even though all devices are in status
In progress (green).
If the SNMP Trap Service is installed and active, stop it.
(You can start and stop services, e.g. in Windows 7, via Computer Management > Services
and Applications > Services)

4.21 Modbus Master

At least one scan group must be inserted for each specified Modbus device. This group is
necessary to cyclically poll the device and to detect a failure (no link test is specified in Modbus!).
The value addresses begin with 0, like the value addresses used in a group.

4.22 Modbus Slave

The value addresses begin with 0.

4.23 CDT Slave

No analog set points Commands are supported as float values in the CDT Slave. If you try to
map these values to the control center, the error message No destination type is assigned to
this source type! is displayed.
The only possible solution is to delete the routing of the information.

4.24 SINAUT LSA ILSA Master

No restrictions known.

4.25 Telegyr 8979 Slave

No restrictions known.

4.26 SICAM Q80 Master

The configuration of the SICAM Q80 devices is performed with the Q80 Manager. You must
order and install the Q80 Manager separately.
Start the Q80 Manager from SICAM PAS/PQS UI Configuration via the context menu of the
SICAM Q80 device. During the configuration of the SICAM Q80 devices, note/set the following:
- The time-zone parameter must be set to UTC.
- The measuring interval must be set to 2 h.
- While the IEC 61000-4-30 standard allows a Class A measurement start time at a full
10-minute mark, you must set the start time to a full even hour. For example to 12:00:00 h
or 16:00:00 h.
In addition, the following restrictions are valid:
- SICAM PAS/PQS V8.02 is suitable for the SICAM Q80 Manager V2.0, V2.2, V3.0 and V3.1.
- Data acquired with older Q80 Manager versions are not imported or imported with errors.
- Measured values are archived after expiry of the measuring interval.
- Energy measured values are not archived.
The OprReady and ComFault values for SICAM Q80 devices are only set correctly in
non-redundant configurations.

4.27 SIMEAS R Master

4.27.1 SIMEAS R V4.0 Time-Zone Configuration
SIMEAS R devices with the firmware version V4.0 (PMU) must be synchronized via an external
timer to obtain a conforming measurement.
The synchronization must be done with UTC. Otherwise, the measured data are displayed with
the wrong time stamps.
The synchronization with local time can cause leaps in time (switchover between daylight saving
time/standard time). These leaps in time can lead to measuring gaps or data loss.
If you operate a SIMEAS R device via a serial COM port or via modem, you must activate the
flow control in the settings of the serial interface. Proceed as follows:
Open the Administrative Tools via Start > Settings > Control Panel.
Open the Device Manager in the Computer Management (Local).
Right-click on Communication Port (COM1) among Ports (COM&LPT) and then select
Properties from the context menu.
In the Port Settings tab, select Xon / Xoff for Flow control.
Confirm with OK.

4.27.2 Log Files

The language of the converted device-log files (Log files) is English. If you want to have a file in
the German language, save the file ep600txt.txt and copy the file dp600txt.txt to ep600txt.txt.
The files can be found in the %COMMONAPPDATA%Siemens Energy\SICAM PAS
PQS\Data\CFE directory.

4.27.3 Fault-Record Files

The SIMEAS R communication driver only allows the transfer of a fault record with a size of up to
10 MB. Larger fault records are automatically reduced.

4.28 Automation
4.28.1 Short Installation Path for Large Projects
The SICAM PAS/PQS installation path for very large projects with a high number of individual
function blocks (more than 300) should be as short as possible (for example, C:\PAS).
Otherwise, problems can occur with the linker of the programming system.
For example, the following error message may be issued when opening a
[ProgrammName].CRD:
Error when opening the [ProgrammName].CRD: File not found.

4.28.2 Naming Conventions

No names of module inputs and outputs must be used as names for automation programs (ST or
CFC), since this causes errors in the compilation of the respective module.

4.28.3 Compatibility Key

If the automation does not start because of a compatibility-key error (shown in SICAM PAS/PQS
UI Operation), open the Windows-EventLog to check whether the program and the firmware
version are different. In this case, the automation project must be compiled again on the
destination system.

4.28.4 Conversion of Old Projects

Projects from older SICAM PAS versions can be accepted.

4.28.5 Redundancy Functionality

Only RETAIN data are compared and synchronized between redundant automations. This must
be considered during the programming. The automation does not support a shock-free
switchover. After the switchover, the corresponding automation is active. Only the active
automation transmits results. The other automation continues working (standby), but it does not
provide any results.
Please note:
A network port must be configured in SICAM PAS/PQS UI Configuration and released in the
firewall between the redundant automations.

4.28.6 Online Monitoring in Redundant Operation

After the installation, the own computer is always set for the online monitoring of the automation
by default. For monitoring in a redundant environment, Siemens therefore recommends opening
the online monitoring on the master system. If the standby system should also monitor the
master system, set the corresponding IP address (master system) in the configuration (refer also
to the Manual Automation Blocks).

4.28.7 General Interrogation for SoftPLC Master Values after Redundancy

Switchover
With SICAM PAS V8.00 a new behavior can be selected to send all SoftPLC master values with
the General Interrogation transmission cause after a redundancy switchover.
This behavior can be controlled via a registry entry. To activate it, create the new entry
GIAfterRedSwitch under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Siemens\SICAM
PAS\Automation in the registry editor and set it to 1:

Readme

2013-10-30

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Siemens\SICAM PAS\Automation]
"GIAfterRedSwitch"=dword:00000001
After changing the registry entry you have to restart the Automation application.
To deactivate it and thus restore the previous behavior, set the value for GIAfterRedSwitch to
0 or delete the entry completely.
By default, the value is not set in the registry and the current behavior is still valid.

4.29 NTP
To use NTP with the Windows 7 and Windows 2008 operating systems, enter the following
settings in the NTP.CONF file (improvement of the time stability):
MinPoll=4 MaxPoll=4 (standard values Minpoll=2 Maxpoll=6)
The ntp.conf configuration file is located in the...\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc directory or in
64 Bit Systems Windows\sys\WoW64\Drivers\etc .
Proceed as follows in order to obtain your NTP configuration:
Copy the contents of ntp.conf.new to a working file.
If a new backup file has been created, copy the specific server and peer specifications from
the backup file to the working file using an editor of your choice.
If no new backup file has been created, copy the specific server and peer specifications from
the ntp.conf file to the working file using an editor of your choice.
If no previous specific NTP configuration exists, use an editor of your choice to add your
specifications to the working file.
Save the working file as ntp.conf.

4.30 LSA Converter

4.30.1 Character-Set Conversion
In order to read in LSA files and to create the device descriptions, the LSA Converter uses the
character tables (codepages) defined in the system. If umlauts or other language-specific
characters are imported incorrectly, the corresponding character table can be modified indirectly
via the Regional and Language Options in the Windows Control Panel.

4.30.2 Transformer Tap

Upon the conversion of LSA parameters, transformer taps can be incorrectly saved as measured
values. In this case, adjust the type in SICAM PAS/PQS UI Configuration.

4.30.3 Synchronization
The CMD_SYNC, CMD_NOSYNC and CMD_MEAS commands required for synchronization
are not generated automatically. Only a regular command with feedback is created instead. This
command can be used as a template for the creation of the synchronization commands. The
feedback must only be assigned to CMD_SYNC.
The originally created command is not relevant.

4.30.4 IEC 60870-5-103

If you migrate devices that use commands, these commands are not entered in the generated
device description automatically. The device description must be adapted. To do this, use the
7SJ531 device description delivered as an example.

4.31 Database - Work with SICAM PAS/PQS and SIMATIC STEP 7 on one
Computer
This section describes how to use 2 Sybase database servers on a PC system (dbsrvX.exe,
where X stands for the version, for example, 7 or 9). This can happen if SICAM PAS/PQS (Full
Server) and SIMATIC STEP 7 are installed on the same computer.
This section describes how to change the port number of the SICAM PAS/PQS database server
to avoid simultaneous access to the 2 database servers.
1) Setting the Port Number of the Database Server
To set the port number of the database server, go to the Windows Registry (Start -> Run ->
re-edit) and change the value of this registry key.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASANYs_pas\Para
meters] -> "Parameters"
The following text is added to the -x tcpip: (port=[portnum]) keyword, where [portnum] is
replaced by a non-reserved port number, for example, 4711.
The new registry key value shall then be as follows:
"-gp 8192 -gk all -gd all -gb idle -ct- -ch 80M -gl all -ti 0 -n HOSTNAME_pas -x tcpip(port=4711)"
2) Adjusting the ODBC link
To adjust the ODBC link, go to the administration (Start -> Settings -> Control Panel ->
Management). Open Data sources (ODBC) and select the System DSN tab. Afterwards,
select SIEMENS_SICAM_PAS from the list and click Configure on the right side. You can
also double-click SIEMENS_SICAM_PAS.
Another window opens.
Select the Network tab and enter the PORT=[portnum] keyword into the text box next to
TCP/IP. When you do this, [portnum] is set with the port number set in point 1) (port number of
the database server).
Note: If DIPs are connected to your Full Server, then also change the ODBC link on the DIPs.
The test as to whether the DIPs are connected to the Full Server can be executed via the
Feature Enabler on the DIP under the Database option. This option shows to which Full
Server a database connection is established (if it is already set).
Note: If you use a 64-bit operating system, double-click the Odbcad32.exe file in the
"%systemdrive%\Windows\SysWoW64" directory. (Start -> Settings -> Control Panel ->
Management does not work on a 64-bit operating system)

3) Restart your system

After restarting your Full Server, you can continue working with SICAM PAS/PQS as usual.
Note: You do not need to restart DIP systems.

4.32 Importing Large Data Volumes

Siemens recommends calling the Compress database function in SICAM PAS/PQS UI
Configuration after importing large data volumes during the configuration phase. This function
reduces the database files pas.db and pas.log by deleting dispensable cache data.
The compression also makes sense if you have effected different actions (Delete/Move) of
objects (systems, applications, interfaces, devices, groups, )/updates) via SICAM PAS/PQS
UI Configuration.
(Create a back-up copy of the project before the compression. The log file is also saved, so that
it is available for an error analysis).

4.33 Multi-Computer Systems

During the first commissioning of a multi-computer system, Update System must be activated
once in SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation on every computer. After that, it is enough to activate
Update System on a computer. This is also valid if the database has been unarchived.
A system can be reset to the initial state. To do so, execute the following command line:
ChangeLogGenerator.exe initial.
To restart the SSR service, reboot the computer.
Please ensure that the network share (\\<computer name>\SR5_ASRDATASHARE) for the
exchange of configuration data is configured on all computers with the correct access rights
(username and password). Please try to access the network share via the Windows Explorer. If a
user name and password is requested, the access rights have to be adjusted.
Time and date have to be in sync on all computers (manual setting or via time synchronization).

4.34 Redundancy
Due to the limitation of a maximum of 10 TCP connections and the withdrawal of the Windows
XP operating system support in April 2014, Siemens does not recommend the use of Windows
XP Professional SP3 for redundant and large configurations.
Depending on the communication protocol/component, SICAM PAS/PQS supports different
redundancy variants. For more details, refer to the Redundancy manual.
Network Teaming Cards must be used for doubled network connection between computers. For
successful commissioning of a redundant system, make sure that the network configuration has
been set according to the description in the manual. Checklist:
- Definition system adaptor
- Adaptation host file
- Correct configuration of the computer name and the IP addresses
- Extended network configuration
NOTE
The name resolution of the computer names should result in the corresponding IP addresses
(check with Ping).
For more details, refer to the Redundancy manual.

4.34.1 SICAM PAS/PQS UI Configuration, Configuration View

If you change the Redundancy parameter under System or Interface, take care of the
following:
If SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation is open during this action, close this component and reopen
it. If you do not do so, this may result in erroneous displays of system states or components in

the SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation application.

4.34.2 Configuration upgrade of a redundant system

In a redundant system the configuration on both systems must be the same. Therefore the same
configuration has to be loaded on both systems via SICAM PAS/PQS UI Configuration. To
upgrade an existing system, the following steps must be applied:
Goal: During the configuration change one system is still running
Disconnect the network connection between both systems.
Stop one system for the configuration change in SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation.
The second system continues to run.
Restart:
Stop both systems in SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation
Unarchive the configuration on both systems in SICAM PAS/PQS UI Configuration.
Click Update System in SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation on both systems.
Reconnect the network connection between both systems.
Click Update System in SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation on one system.

4.34.3 Connection Loss when Switching between Redundant IEC 61850

Applications
Check the Windows event log via Start > Settings > Administrative Tools > Event
Viewer > Event Viewer > Application.
If there are entries of the [socket IO error] type in your event log, such as
- socket IO error: sock=[socket number][[connection to DSI server]] pctx=[hex value]
TIMEOUT (send, 10000ms)
- socket IO error: sock=[socket number][[connection to DSI server]] pctx=[hex value]
TIMEOUT (recv, 5000ms)
and you are also working close to the performance limit of your SICAM PAS/PQS system, adjust
the read/write time limit for the DSI Central Server as follows to avoid unexpected connection
losses:
Double-click the EnableDSIServerOptions.reg file in the <path>\RegFiles directory.
The <path> corresponds to the letter of your DVD drive.
Re-start the SSR service.
To restore the previous behavior, double-click the DisableDSIServerOptions.reg file in the
<path>\RegFiles directory. By default, these values are not set in the registry and the current
behavior is still valid.
NOTE
The internal path within the registry differs between 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems.
Thus, executing the reg files by double-clicking is only valid for 32-bit operating systems.
For 64-bit operating systems you have to execute the reg files manually via the Windows
command line, using the following commands:
- %SystemRoot%\SysWow64\Regedit.exe <Path>\RegFiles\EnableDSIServerOptions.reg
- %SystemRoot%\SysWow64\Regedit.exe
<Pfad>\RegFiles\DisableDSIServerOptions.reg
The <path> corresponds to the letter of your DVD drive.

4.34.4 Time-out when Updating the System

Check the Report output.
If there are entries saying
- copy database failed
and you are also working close to the performance limit of your SICAM PAS/PQS system, adjust
the time-out for writing of the ChangelogActivator as follows to avoid exceeding the time slot:
Double-click the EnableCopyDBTimeout.reg file in the <path>\RegFiles directory.
The <path> corresponds to the letter of your DVD drive.
To restore the previous behavior, double-click the DisableCopyDBTimeout.reg file in the
<path>\RegFiles directory.

4.34.5 Steady Operation while Configuration Changes

To keep one system running all the time while changing the configuration, proceed as follows:
Disconnect the standby system from the network (after the disconnection, both systems run
in an active mode).
Open SICAM PAS/PQS UI Configuration on the disconnected computer and update the
configuration (either you perform changes or unarchive a new project).
In case of any manual changes, archive the new project. It will be required to update the
redundant computer.
Close SICAM PAS/PQS UI Configuration and open SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation.
Update the system without the Copy database option.
The disconnected system boots up with the new configuration in an active mode.
Copy the unarchived project to an external memory.
Copy the changelog files to the external memory. Changelog files can be found
in: %SR5_DATA%\ASRChangelog.
Disconnect the other system from the network and reconnect the updated one.
Open SICAM PAS/PQS UI Configuration on the disconnected computer and unarchive the
new project. Do not perform any manual changes in this project after unarchiving it.
Close SICAM PAS/PQS UI Configuration.
Copy the changelog files to %SR5_DATA%\ASRChangelog.
Restart the SSR Service or reboot the computer to activate the configuration changes. Do
not use the Update system function in SICAM PAS/PQS UI Operation)
After startup of the isolated computer, reconnect it to the network.
Both systems will now synchronize and continue to run in normal operation mode.

The maximum size of COMTRADE files that can be imported is 10 MB. The maximum size of the
PQDIF files that can be imported is 50 MB.

4.36 Archive
4.36.1 Start-up
For very large system configurations (for example, 50 SIMEAS R Fault recorders), the start-up of
the "Archive" application can take up to 10 minutes.

4.36.2 Archive Directory/Size

The archive directory must be on a physical drive (for example, D:\Archive). The writing and
reading speed have a direct influence on the system.
Siemens recommends an archive size of 100 GB.

4.36.3 Archive Backup

As defined in the configuration, the archive size on a SICAM PAS/PQS is limited. It is operated in
the overwrite mode.
Before the overwriting action, you can see in the status bar of the SICAM PQ Analyzer when the
archive is filled to 90 %.
You can save the data before overwriting them with the SICAMArchiveBackup.exe application.
This application can be found in the installation folder of the SICAM PAS/PQS, for example,
C:\Program Files\Siemens Energy\SICAM\PAS PQS\bin.
This is not necessary if you transfer the data to a separate archive computer with the SICAM PQ
Collector.
Via Select archive from the SICAM PQ Analyzer menu you open a backup archive located in
the file system.

4.37 Notes on Status indications

To visualize in SICAM SCC that your system and the components are ready for operation, use
the Operational Readiness or Communication Fault variable. These variables show for
redundant systems whether the corresponding component is available.
If you have configured a redundant system for which a topology has been created and if you
want to use the OPR variables in SICAM SCC, put each OPR variable into a user-defined group
in the topology.
In redundant systems, a device or interface is connected to several OPR variables. These
variables all receive the same topological path. In order to assign these variables unambiguously
to the technological path, Siemens recommends using a group name including an unambiguous
designation of the OPR variable in the system.
