FINALS OF MISS TOURISM AT NICE CITY DIGITAL

Ladies and gentlemen
I am happy to be with you today during this important
occasion when we crown the Miss Tourism Kirinyaga
County for year 2014 edition.
Miss Tourism is a programme, which aims to promote
Domestic and International Tourism both at the
National and County levels through the promotion of
the six pillars of Tourism hereby referred as Tourist
Attractions, Peace, Investment, Culture,
hospitality and Environment.

The journey towards this event started in the month

of July 2014 when we launched this programme at
this same hotel. Allow me at this juncture to thank
the proprietor of this Hotel for the support he has
given us since the opening of this wonderful hotel.
The Hotel is now a Key landmark in our county as well
as a tourism destination for many visitors to our
county. By hosting this event at this magnificent
hotel, we are promoting the two pillars of Miss
Tourism i.e Tourism and Hospitality
The auditions were held on 25th October in Kutus
followed by a boot camp which ended today in
Kerugoya. The winner of todays event will proceed to
the Nationals where she will compete with the
winners from the other counties. Kirinyaga has been
No.1 one in other areas such as in K.C.P.E and
agricultural sector and I see no reason why we cannot
produce the National winner for this years Miss
Tourism.
Kirinyaga has several Tourism attraction sites among
them, Ndaraca ya Ngai, Mt Kenya Forest, Kamweti
climbing route, adventure tourism along Sagana River
and Agri- Tourism. Part of the responsibilities for the
incoming Miss tourism will be to market these sites to
the outside world.
As the patron of Miss Tourism in Kirinyaga county, Im
glad to be part and parcel of all the Miss Tourism

initiatives and any other activities that can promote

our county like conserving our environment through
tree planting.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a long way to go and
I call upon all of us present to work together to
promote our County as one of the preferred tourism
destination in the region.
With those few remarks, I now wish all the
contestants and all guests present here a wonderful
evening and may the best take the crown
