BONNINGTON VILLAGE, EDINBURGH

INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
The exhibition has been prepared to inform the community of the emerging residential
led redevelopment of 5, 15 Bonnington Road Lane, Edinburgh. A Proposal of Application
Notice was submitted to The City of Edinburgh Council in Septermber 2014, outlining
the applicant's intent to submit an application for full planning permission for the area.
This event provides the local community with an opportunity to view the proposals for

the new neighbourhood and provide comment ahead of the formal submission of the
application. We would therefore welcome your views on what you see here today so
that we can take these into account when developing the proposals. There are comment
sheets available at the event, which we would encourage you to complete.

As a result of this desire for change in the area the Bonnington Development Brief was

ET

published in 2008, setting out planning and design principles to guide the redvelopment
of the predominantly business and industrial area. The brief encourages the introduction
of non-employment uses (e.g. residential) to the area as well as outlining the desire to
enhance the setting of the Water of Leith and improve the walkway, and to create new
streets and pedestrian/cycle links into and through the site.

The site of this application sits at the centre of the area coveredd by the Bonnington
Design Brief. The brief specifically refers to the site highlighting the desire to extend
Bonnington Road Lane and Tinto Place north towards the river, and to create pedestrian/
cycle routes connecting to the Water of Leith Walkway and onto the Ferry Road Cycle
Path.
