32 Years of Space Achievements

Orbital Sciences Corporation was founded in 1982 with the goal of making space systems more
affordable, accessible and useful to millions of people on Earth. Employing state-of-the-art
technologies and entrepreneurial business practices, Orbital has created new classes of launch
vehicles, satellites and other space technologies. Today, our customers use the companys innovative
and reliable space systems to defend our nation, to provide global communications, to study the
Earth, and to explore our solar system and the universe beyond.
Orbital is headquartered in Dulles, Virginia, with major facilities in Arizona and Maryland. With the
creativity and commitment of nearly 3,600 professionals, Orbital is recognized today as a worldwide
leader in small and medium-class space systems, providing significant performance, price and timeto-market advantages to customers with diverse needs and resources.

Launch Systems
Orbital is the industry leader in developing and manufacturing innovative,
reliable and affordable launch vehicles to boost small and medium-class
satellites into space, to protect our nation, and to advance mans quest
to venture beyond Earth. Our new Antares medium-class launch vehicle
is designed to provide responsive, low-cost, and reliable access to
space for payloads weighing over 5,000 kilograms. Our Pegasus space
launch vehicle is launched from a modified L-1011 aircraft to provide
highly reliable access to space with unprecedented operational flexibility.
Employing many technologies developed for Pegasus, our groundlaunched Taurus and Minotaur family of rockets provide dependable and
affordable launch services for commercial, scientific and military space
payloads. Orbital also has a proud heritage of providing highly dependable
and affordable launch vehicles employed in the nations missile defense
programs to protect our nation, our allies and military forces in the field
from missile attack.

Space Launch Vehicles

Antares inaugural flight April 2013

Orbitals space launch vehicles are the industry standard for delivering
small payloads into orbit. Pegasus, with its patented air-launched system,
and the ground-launched Taurus have launched 88 satellites in over
50 missions since 1990. Our Minotaur family of launchers combine
decommissioned ICBM rocket motors and commercial upper stages
and other subsystems to provide reliable and low-cost launch services
for U.S. Government space missions. Since their debut in 2000, Minotaur
rockets have achieved 100% mission success, having launched 42
satellites into orbit.
Orbital has also developed the Antares medium-class space launch
vehicle to boost payloads into a variety of low Earth and geosynchronous
transfer orbits, and to Earth escape trajectories. Incorporating proven
technologies from our Pegasus, Taurus and Minotaur rockets, Antares is
an integral element of Orbitals Cargo Resupply Services (CRS) program
to deliver cargo to the International Space Station (ISS) for NASA.

Missile Defense Interceptor Vehicles

Orbital is proud to provide the interceptor vehicles for the U.S. Missile
Defense Agencys (MDA) Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD)
program. Employing technologies derived from our space launch vehicles,
our GMD interceptor boosters carry kill vehicles to destroy long-range
enemy missiles in mid-flight, protecting the United States, our allies and
deployed forces from potential future attacks.

Missile Defense Targets and Missiles

Orbital is one of the leading providers of suborbital rockets used as
targets to simulate enemy missile threats in the testing of missile defense
systems. The company provides a wide range of vehicles to simulate
long-, medium- and short-range missiles. We also provide these vehicles
as testbeds for validation of scientific and military technologies, and have
successfully launched hundreds of smaller scientific sounding rockets
from launch sites spanning the globe.

Satellites and Space Systems

Orbital-built satellites circle the globe and travel the solar system as well.
Our flight-proven and reliable spacecraft platforms are designed to host
a variety of payloads from telescopes used to explore the mysteries
of space; to sensors employed to study the Earth, the sun and planetary
bodies; and communications and broadcasting systems that allow millions
of people on Earth to share information every day. Since 1982 Orbital
has delivered nearly 150 satellites to NASA, military and commercial
customers around the world, and remains dedicated to delivering reliable
space systems that they can count on to carry out their missions.

Communications Satellites
Orbitals GEOStar geosynchronous Earth orbit (GEO) satellites are the
best-selling small-class communications satellites in the world. Because
GEOStar satellites are more reliable and affordable than those offered by
other suppliers, they offer clear economic advantages in many business
situations. As a result, the worlds leading satellite communications service
providers employ GEOStar satellites for direct-to-home television, cable
television distribution, business data connectivity, broadband capacity and
other communications missions.

Science, Environmental and Technology Satellites

Orbital is one of the worlds preeminent suppliers of small spacecraft for
space and Earth science, deep-space exploration, remote sensing and
space-based technology demonstration programs. Our flight-proven and
highly reliable LEOStar family of spacecraft have been employed in a
variety of astronomy and solar physics, high-resolution Earth imaging,
environmental monitoring, national security technology demonstration
and interplanetary exploration missions.

Space Technical Services

Our Technical Services Division (TSD) provides a full spectrum of
specialized engineering and manufacturing services to NASA and
other civil government and military space agencies, leading aerospace
corporations and scientific research centers. TSD engineers have
designed and produced space systems and subsystems used on a variety
of missions, ranging from the Hubble Space Telescope and the Cassini
Saturn orbiter to scientific sounding rockets and space nuclear energy
programs.

Satellite Ground Systems and Support Services

Orbital provides end-to-end space systems support, including the design
and integration of ground systems for the command and control of inorbit spacecraft and data networks that distribute and manage satellite
data. In addition, Orbital provides technical training and dedicated
operational support to assist customers for the life of each satellite.

Advanced Space Programs

Orbital is applying its expertise in smaller space systems to provide
commercial cargo delivery services to the International Space Station,
develop new national security space systems, and help develop the
next generation of launchers. We develop new technologies and adapt
proven elements from established Orbital products to deliver innovative
and reliable advanced space systems for civil, military and research
applications.

Human Space Systems

Under a NASA agreement, Orbital has adapted and enhanced its proven
satellite and launch vehicle technologies to develop a highly reliable and
affordable means of delivering cargo to the International Space Station
(ISS) following retirement of the Space Shuttle. For the Space Agencys
COTS/CRS program, Orbital developed the Antares space launch vehicle
and the Cygnus advanced maneuvering spacecraft.
Under a novel cooperative agreement with NASA, Orbital is delivering cargo
to the ISS purely on a fee-for-service basis. Orbital is under contract to
conduct eight missions to deliver approximately 20,000 kilograms of cargo
to the ISS. The first of these was completed in early 2014.

National Security Space Systems

Orbitals smaller, more affordable satellite platforms have also been used
for national security space applications since the mid-1980s. Working
with DARPA, the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Missile Defense Agency and other
government customers, we have developed and built spacecraft used
to provide high-resolution Earth imaging, terrestrial and space weather
monitoring, military communications, missile warning and tracking, space
situational awareness, and new space technology demonstrations.

Advanced Launch Systems

Orbital is a leader in the development of new launch vehicle technologies
to lower the cost of access to space. We have adapted many of our
launch vehicle technologies to boost test platforms to demonstrate new
space technologies. Missions have included reusable launch vehicles,
space maneuvering vehicles and hypersonic aircraft and missiles.
