our lives. Those four-digit designations

Your first look at the marking one orbit around the sun are human
constructs, pure and simple – empty, pointless
top 10 jazz albums of and merely serving to divert us from the hard
2009 realities of our individual existence.
By Oakland Jazz Music Examiner, Brian McCoy That must be why we so fervently embrace
December 9, 12:39 PM them … and why I am so looking forward to

Eve.

works. (It wonʼt be a Best list, however, rather
a more egalitarian Favorites list).

Machines”
Allen Toussaint: “Bright Mississippi”

You and I know that this whole end-of-year
thing is pure malarkey, that the hours in Jazzhouse Diaries
which December 31 slips into January 1 Ran Blake: “Driftwoods”
represent no real change or demarcation in Chad Taylor: “Circle Down”
