SHARMAS CONSULTANCY BACKGROUND & OVERVIEW

PREFACE
The aim of any organizational transformation and change process can be broadly
stated as generating constant innovation and development initiatives leading to
improvement programmes. These need expertise.
It is also relevant that with a changing environment, technology and market forces,
the various human roles within the organization will change and should continuously
expand. That means that peoples knowledge and skills need to be enriched if high
productivity and excellence is to be maintained.
Large organizations faced with the need to continuously improve must use innovative
ways to achieve this aim and realise both qualitative and quantitative benefits. At the
heart of this effort is the key requirement to embrace the participation of people in the
forging of a shared vision, and in the development of their potential and contribution.
We believe the successful organisations of the future will be those which harness the
capabilities, creativity, enthusiasm, energy and ambitions of their people. They will be
the ones which give their people a sense of purpose, a clear identity, a trusting and
supportive environment, opportunity to contribute to and participate in decisions and
the means to develop within the organisation.
This then is our mission.

INTRODUCING - OUR STRESS MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME
Whilst Organisation Development through the advancement of individual knowledge
and skill is the main objective it will result in failure IF both people and the working
environment is unduly stressed and work pressure prevents the establishment of a
learning culture.
It is because of this realisation that Sharmas Consultancy has designed a
consultancy led training programme that addresses climate problems i.e. an under
utilisation of human resources and productivity being lower than could be reasonably
expected a problem many organisations would recognise.
But resolution of problem is only the first phase for having created a vacuum
negative energy needs replacing with positive energy.
Our integrated solution:
A)

conduct a stress in the organisation survey or audit this to pinpoint the

extent and nature of the problem

Sharmas Consultancy - overview

Prepared by Satyapal Sharma

Page - 5 -

SHARMAS CONSULTANCY BACKGROUND & OVERVIEW

B)

conduct individual 360 assessments to identify those individuals who would

benefit from a learning programme

C)

provide online learning resources by registering individuals (ideally in

groups) on two consecutive eprogrammes (see below)

D)

provide blended and facilitated workshops throughout to enthuse and

support participants

E)

link learning acquisition to application via goal setting, action planning,

work based assignments and monitoring progress

F)

support the learning process with knowledge tests

G)

re-survey &/or re-assess for gap analysis and identify further improvement
action required

The result of this integrated approach is to produce more knowledgeable, skilful and
capable people, and a healthier and more productive organisational climate.
Some detail:
Surveys 44 questions exist with full demographic analysis
Assessment 23 competencies covering personal skills and climate impact
Learning two programmes covering 47 courses and 108 learning hours:
Knowledge Tests two tests are available test one = 30 questions, selected
randomly from a bank of 60 test two = 30 questions, from a bank of 55

A number of variables exist but the following might provide a useful guideline:
1.

Learning including workshops, goal setting & action planning = 6-7 months

3.

Gap analysis and planning = 1-2 months

Say 12 months overall?

HRD ONLINE BLENDED APPROACH - BENEFITS TO THE USER
Eight good reasons why learners should use HRD Online:
1. Learners can access anytime, anywhere and are not dependent upon an LRC.
2. Learners can set their own pace and accomplish as much learning as they need
based on their commitment and motivation and support which we can provide.
3. The 360o assessment tool provides the individual with a quantifiable measure of
his/her training need and assists them to select the most appropriate training.
4. The knowledge tests also enable the learner to gauge the training need and
measure the improvement realized after the training has taken place.
5. Goal setting and Action planning features helps users create their CPD plans.
6. The products available on the system are accredited by British Institutes, providing
the individual learner with the latest international learning standards.

7. Evidence of learning undertaken and applied can underpin performance appraisal
and career progression plans.
8. Learners become enthused, gain a holistic view of the organisation, its vision and
goals, and become involved in realising progress rather than being a bystander.
HRD ONLINE BLENDED APPROACH - BENEFITS TO THE ORGANIZATION
Eight good reasons why organizations should sponsor the HRD Online system:
1. Organization surveys provide a measure of the organizations climate and a basis
for implementing change and continuous and sustainable improvement initiatives.
2. Individual assessments help identify need and verify that learning is both being
achieved, being applied within the workplace and is appropriate.
3. Assessment ensures that an adaptable and customized approach is taken to
enable the organization to align training to the strategic needs of the organization.
4. Learning from a single source means learning delivery achieves consistency and
compliance with learning outcomes and standards.
5. Trainees learning records are visible to the manager who can check what the
trainees did and when, their test results, and CPD hours this leads to motivating
them and providing them with coaching or mentoring to ensure that the
organizations objectives are fully obtained.
6. The system releases HRD management and training resources for more value
adding activities e.g. giving attention to situation analysis, application and problem
resolution, and to work actively to promote, encourage, monitor, mentor, verify and
evaluate learning and learning outcomes.
7. Our modern qualifications and competency development programmes ensure that
an effectively targeted approach is taken to meet the organizations future needs.
8. Saves time, saves facilities, saves resources, saves money = a good investment!!!

1. Generic system billing covers any or all of the systems generic functions.
