1. Have I spoken words of love and blessing to my child?

2. Did I show love with my actions? (alone time, time talking, time playing, showing patience, hugs, smiles)?

3. Did I treat my child in the same manner I would want to be treated?

4. Did I show loving compassion, comfort and support, remembering my child’s young foolish heart, or did I unduly correct him and expect more from him
than he could perform?
5. Did I willingly and graciously forgive my child when he repented of wrongdoing, or am I harboring anger, bitterness, or pride?

6. Was I a loving cheerful servant to my family, or did I seek my own glory, ease or pleasure?

7. Did I pray for wisdom in my role as a parent or did I attempt to lead my child in my own strength?

8. Did I pray for my child ( for understanding of scripture, behavior problems, etc.)?

9. Did I lead my child in praying to our Lord, teaching him to look to God to supply our needs, and to thank Him for our many blessings?

10. Did I read and explain the bible to my child?

11. Is God and His Word my standard in teaching and training my child?

12. Did I direct my child to God’s Word when counseling him in his decisions and actions?

13. Did I under the Holy Spirit’s direction help bring my child to awareness of his sinful actions and attitudes?

14. Was I faithful to train my child with words of wisdom, showing him from scripture, what God says about sinful attitudes and actions?

15. Did I notice and encourage my child’s godly behavior, or did I only draw attention to his wrongdoings? Did I reward him with words, actions, and
special blessings?

16. Did I creatively help motivate my child to love and obey God and His Word?

17. Did I, with my words and actions, train my child to obey God’s law and His delegated authorities, or did I, by my neglect or laziness, allow him to
develop habits of disobedience?

18. Did I prayerfully design and administer discipline that will help my child understand the natural consequences and cursing from sin in his life?

19. Was I consistent and prompt to use the rod when my child’s behavior required it?

20. Was I careful to encourage my child, always pointing him to the mercy and forgiveness that God grants to those who confess and repent of sin?

21. Did I protect my child, spiritually, physically, mentally, or did I carelessly expose him to wrong, temptation, or danger?

22. Was I faithful in working to provide for the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of my child?

23. Am I planning and providing for a material inheritance for my child (money, help in establishing a business, building a house, etc.)?

24. Am I growing and maturing in a way that will provide a spiritual heritage for my child?

25. Can my child look at my life as a worthy example to emulate?

26. Does my love for Jesus Christ affect every area of my life?
