POSTGRADUATE STUDIES IN COMPOSITION

Programme Objectives:
This postgraduate programme provides students the opportunity to perfect their compositional skills
with the aim of applying these in musical practice by building on the knowledge and skills acquired in a
previously completed master degree programme or diploma study.

Criteria for Admission:

Completion of a master degree programme or diploma study in composition at a post-secondary
educational institution either in Austria or abroad.

Admission:
To be admitted to the programme, candidates must submit their diploma (with certified translation if
not in German), their diploma supplement (for european completion of studies) and obtain the written
approval of the instructor of the respective course in the Composition Department based on works
composed to date.

Students are permitted to repeat the course of study upon approval by the course instructor from the
department.

The courses from the main artistic subject are to be taken in the appropriate sequence.

Final Examination:
The final examination consists of the successful completion of the individual courses which is to be
documented by the compositions and/or theoretical papers written during the course of study vis--vis
the course instructor in the Composition Department.
A certificate is awarded upon completion of the postgraduate degree programme.

Tuition Fees:

600 per semester (may be subject to change)
