Rugasol-3W Paste
Surface Retarder for Exposed Aggregate Concrete

Description

Rugasol-3W Paste is a universal solvent-free surface retarder.

Uses

Rugasol-3W Paste is a surface retarder for steel, wooden and plastic shutterings. Its fields of
application are:
Exposed aggregate concrete
As mechanical key in vertical and horizontal construction joints for subsequent layers of
concrete
In precast concrete production where exposed aggregate finish is required
If necessary trials are carried out and granulometry of aggregates are adjusted accordingly, fair faced in situ cast concrete may also be produced with exposed aggregate
finish
Pre-treatment of contact areas which will receive a rendering or screed at a later stage
(testing necessary with regard to bonding of rendering)

Advantages

Rugasol-3W Paste contains retarding substances which prevent a normal setting of the top
layer. Due to this effect the top layer can be removed by water pressure > 100 bar. Further
beneficial properties are:
Reduced labour costs
Suitable for steel, wooden and plastic shutterings
Inexpensive formwork can be used

Application
Coverage

0.20 kg/m, depending on application.

Application temperature

Between + 5C and +35C.

Application

By brush or serrated trowel. Stir Rugasol-3W Paste thoroughly before use.

Does not form dry film after application. Therefore treated formwork must not be walked on
(danger of slipping!).After the application of Rugasol-3W Paste concreting can take place
immediately.Formwork to be struck as soon as possible, but not later than 3 days after
casting of concrete. Thorough washing of treated area with a strong water jet to remove
cement paste must take place immediately after formwork has been removed, latest within 2
hours.

Cleaning

Use fresh water to clean all tools and equipment.

Important

The successful production of exposed aggregate finish depends on various factors. Such
work should only be carried out by specialists after extensive trials. Formwork treated with
Rugasol-3W Paste must be cleaned thoroughly before it is used again.
