The 4th APMP pressure and vacuum symposium was held at Jakarta, Indonesia, from October 30 to
November 1, 2008, hosted by the Research Centre for Calibration, Instrumentation and Metrology Indonesian Institute of Sciences, KIM-LIPI. Specialists in pressure and vacuum fields from 11 countries
have participated in the workshop.

After reporting country activities, Dr. A.Ooiwa reviewed about the resolutions and
activities performed at the 1st APMP Pressure and vacuum workshop held in NMIJ/AIST in
Japan, 2001. And then, participants discussed the status and activities for pressure and
vacuum metrology. Based on the discussions, three conclusions were made. First, every
comparison performed in the APMP region should be sent to Dr. S.Y Woo in KRISS. He will
set up a database and a program for APMP Pressure and Vacuum members. Comparisons
performed by/with NMI in other region will be discussed later. Second, participants
discussed the comparison using digital transfer standard which was proposed in the 1 st APMP
workshop and carried out in the name of APMP.M.P-K7. The result was summarized by
Dr.T.Kobata, NMIJ/ AIST in Japan as follows. Key comparison of hydraulic high-pressure
standards in the range 10 MPa to 100 MPa for gauge mode, APMP.M.P-K7, was carried out

In the evening, a reception was held to thank the attendees and to exchange opinions. All had
a quite enjoyable and beneficial time.
On September 16, technical reports regarding primary standards, various calibration methods, analysis
of national standards, international comparisons, domestic activities, etc., were presented by
several countries and discussed. In the morning, pressure and vacuum joint seminar was
conducted. In the afternoon, pressure and vacuum seminars were conducted separately.
Pressure seminar was held openly for members of Pressure-Club in Korea. Introductory
remarks were given by Dr.S.Y.Woo, Chairman of Pressure-Club in Korea. More than thirty
persons were attended for this open symposium.
On November 1
Sebagai penutup pada hari terakhir penyelenggaraan 4 th PVS 2008, dilakukan technical tours of the
MRQ (Mass Related Quantity) laboratories in KIM-LIPI which were conducted in the
morning. In the afternoon dilanjutkan dengan Industrial visit to YAMAMOTO KEIKI
Indonesia YKI, as the manufacturer of Pressure Gauge, untuk melihat detail proses
pembuatan pressure gauge which is on of many familiar instrument of pressure.
