Motor Trolley means a trolly which is self propelled making use of a
motor. It is normally used by officers and Inspectors of Engg, Optg, S & T, and Commercial Departments. Maximum number of persons allowed 8 on MG and 10 on BG. Minimum number of persons required is Four. Speed shall not exceed 30kmph during night and 15kmph on points and crossings. Users shall be certified competent by DSO for all group C staff, by CSO for all Zonal Hqs officers, and by DRM for all Divisional Officers. The inter distance between the two motor trollies when following one another shall be Two T Ps. Motor Trollies should always run under block protection and shall be treated and signalled as train. On double line and on single line token less sections, SM will take line clear and prepare T/A 1525 authority in duplicate. On double line, SM granting line clear will turn the handle of Block Instrument to Train on Line position. On both single line and on double line S Ms shall immediately place Trolly on Line cap on the plunger of Block Instruments as visual Warning. The SM shall issue T-369(3b) to pass LSS at ON in addition to T/A1525 on double line and on single line token less sections. SM despatching can take Off a free Starter and S M at the other end can receive Motor Trolly on Signals. On Double line, the SM shall bring the handle of the block instruments form TOL to Line closed after the complete arrival of the motor trolly for which he has granted line clear.
15. When M.T. despatched on T/A-1525, the in-charge on arrival at station
in advance shall hand over the authority to SM with an endorsement that the MT has arrived complete and sign on with date and time. 16. The S M shall paste the same in station diary and clear the block section supported by PN. 17. A MT can follow a train or another M T, provided it shall clear the section within 10 minutes of the arrival of the Train/MT which it is following. 18. A Motor Trolly is not allowed to follow a goods train only on specified sections. 19. When following a train, it shall be treated as L.V. of the train. 20. When following a train/ MT, the SM shall take Line Clear and prepare T-1525 authority in duplicate. 21. T- 1525 shall be handed over to the M.T. in charge and obtain his signature. 22. An authority to pass LSS at ON shall be given to the MT following a Train /M T. 23. When a MT is following another MT, a Caution Order shall be given to the leading MT stating that another MT is following in addition to usual ATP. 24. The MT in-charge following another MT shall maintain a clear distance of Two T Ps. 25. Signals taken Off for a Train /M T shall not be put back to ON and route shall not be altered till such time the following M T arrives. 26. At Station where automatic signal reverser is provided, the SM shall not put back the lever to normal and not alter the route. 27. The Trolley in-charge will pass the signals at ON and enters with his MT on the same line. 28. The MT in-charge shall sign in the TSR with date and time indicating the complete arrival of the M.T. 29. SM at the receiving end shall exchange messages with PN to this effect before clearing the block section. 30. All entries of MT shall be made in Red in the TSR and all the Copies of the messages shall be pasted in station Diary.
