INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE

WALL-MOUNTED
EXQUISITE iPAD KIOSK

Items/Tools Required:
iPad
iPad data/power cable that came with your iPad. (An after-market
connector may not fit.)
4 Sets of Screws and anchors to securely mount kiosk to your specific wall
surface -- with appropriate tools
Measuring device, such as a tape rule

Level
Extension Cord (optional)
Warning: When assembling the head enclosure, never use screws other than the security
screws supplied with the kiosk. A longer screw can penetrate the head enclosure further than
designed and cause permanent cosmetic damage to the head enclosure.

#1. Installing Your iPad into the Head Enclosure and Testing Your iPads Controls
Note: Prior to installing your iPad into the enclosure, confirm that your application is running correctly on
the iPad.
Items needed:

iPad
iPad data/power cable that came with your iPad. (An after-market connector may not fit.)
hex bit driver (supplied)
Front iPad Assembly (supplied)
Rear iPad Assembly (supplied)
8 security screws (supplied)
Torx security screw bit, large (supplied)
Button key (supplied)
Audio Cable (Supplied with Audio Kit)

Part A: Removing the Components from the Packaging

1. Take the front and back iPad assemblies out of their protective packaging.
2. Lay the Assemblies on a soft, clean surface with the interiors of the assemblies facing up.
3. Locate the 8 security screws, large security screw bit and bit driver, and place them nearby.

Part B: Inserting the iPad into the Front Assembly

1. Position the front assembly so that the large notch in the white material is to the right.
2. Make sure that your iPad is fully powered off. If it is on, hold down the power button until a red
button appears at the top of the screen and you are prompted to slide to power off. Slide the
red button to the right.
3. Unlock the iPads Screen Rotation Lock. This is located above the volume control buttons.
4. Insert the iPads data/power cable into the iPads data port. (If you are using a sound system
with the kiosk, plug the audio cable into the headphone jack.)
5. Place the iPad over the enclosures front assembly so that the data port is positioned to the
right.
6. Make sure that the data cable (and audio cable if used) is not between the iPad and the front
assembly, and then press the iPad into the front assembly until it is seated all the way down.
Note: Since it is a precise fit, you will need to accurately align the iPad over the space before it will
fit down inside easily.
The iPad enclosure is ready to be assembled.

Part C: Assembling the Head Enclosure
1. Pick up the rear assembly and look at the inside. If needed, rotate the assembly so that the end
with the large notch is on the right.
2. Thread the USB end of data/power cable (and optional audio cable) through the center hole of
the rear assembly, out toward you.
3. Place the rear assembly on top of the front assembly so that the screw holes are aligned, and
then gently pull the cable(s) out of the back of the enclosure. Caution: Do not pull tightly on the
cable(s) or you may damage the connector.
4. Place the 8 security screws into the screw holes. Realigned the rear assembly over the front
assembly and tighten the 8 screws with the security screw bit and driver. (Warning: NEVER USE
SCREWS OTHER THAN THE SECURITY SCREWS SUPPLIED WITH THE KIOSK. A LONGER SCREW
CAN PENETRATE THE HEAD ENCLOSURE FURTHER THAN DESIGNED AND CAUSE PERMANENT
COSMETIC DAMAGE TO THE HEAD ENCLOSURE.)
The Head Enclosure is fully assembled. Important: Now is a good time to test that you have power
going to the iPad. Plug the power/data cable and power adapter into a wall socket and confirm
that your iPad is getting power.

Part D: Testing the iPad Controls

1. Turn on the iPad by inserting the Button Key into the Power Keyhole and momentarily
depressing the power button.
2. When the startup screen is visible, slide the white button to the right to bring up the Home
screen.
Part E: Accessing the Home Screen
Even thought the Home Button is covered up, you can always access the Home Screen by following
these simple steps:
1. Insert the Button key into the Power Keyhole and hold the Power button down until you see the
red slide to power off button.
2. Slide it to the right and you turn off the iPad.
3. After the iPad turns off, press the Power button again using the Button key, and the normal
Open Screen will appear.
4. Slide the slide to unlock button to the right and you will be taken to the Home Screen.

#2. Attaching the Head Enclosure Bracket to the Head Enclosure

Note: You make skip this part if your enclosure has shipped pre-assembled.

Items needed:

Extension Cord (optional)

Bit Driver (Supplied)
Security Bit (Supplied)
Bracket Assembly (Supplied)
o Head Enclosure bracket
o Wall bracket
4 socket-head M4 screws (Supplied)
3mm L-shaped hex key (Supplied)

Part A: Disassembling the Bracket Assembly

1. Using the security bit and bit driver, remove the four security screws that hold the two parts of
the bracket assembly together. Set the smaller wall plate aside.
Part B: Aligning the Bracket and Head Enclosure
1. Lay the head enclosure face-down on a soft clean surface.
2. Position the bracket on the back of the head so that the rectangular opening is up.
If you will be using the iPad in Landscape mode, position the bracket so that the smaller
circular opening is nearest the side of the head enclosure with the 2 volume control
channels. This will result in having the iPad positioned so that the Home button is to the left
when fully assembled.
If you will be using the iPad in Portrait mode, position the bracket so that the smaller
circular opening is away from the side of the head enclosure with the power button channel.
This will result in having the iPad positioned so that the Home button is at the bottom when
fully assembled.
3. Run the iPad's power/data cable (and optional audio cable) up through the bracket and out of
the small circular opening.
4. Align the bracket so that the brackets 4 screw holes are over the head enclosures screw holes.

Part C: Attaching the Bracket to the Head Enclosure

1. Using the hex key, place each of the 4 socket-head screws through the bracket and into the
head enclosure.

2. Use the hex key to tighten each socket-head screw.

Part D: Securing the Power Cables

Note: If the wall bracket is to be installed over an electrical wall outlet, you can skip this step.

Thread the cable tie through the anchor.

Remove the adhesive backing from the anchor.
Affix the anchor and tie inside the bracket. Press the anchor firmly.
Secure the iPad data/power cable and your power cord using the cable tie.

#3. Mounting the Wall Plate to the Wall

Items needed:

4 Sets of screws and anchors to securely mount kiosk to your specific wall surface -- with
appropriate tools
Measuring device such as a tape rule
Level
Wall plate (supplied)

Part A: Determining Wall Bracket Mounting Position

Note: If you will be installing the Wall Kiosks in new construction, you may want to install an electrical
power outlet at each location. The Wall plate has been designed to fit over a standard power outlet.
Check to see if local electrical code permits this type of installation.
1. Determine the horizontal position where you want to mount the wall kiosk. (You may wish to
place the kiosk near an electrical outlet.)
2. Using a measuring device and pencil, mark a point on the wall 46 (1168mm) above the finished
floor. If the iPad will be used in Portrait mode, mark your point at 45 (1143mm). These
measurements will place your kiosk at an optimum ADA-compliant height.
3. Place the Wall bracket on the wall with the top of the bracket even with the marked point. (The
top of the wall bracket has the bent middle lip the bottom has none.)
4. Use your level to make sure that the top of the bracket is level.
5. Use your pencil to mark the center of the 4 mounting holes.

Part B: Mounting the Wall Plate to the Wall

1. Use your tools and anchors to make the necessary 4 mounting points.
2. Use your four screws and tools to mount the wall plate to your wall.
3. Using your level, check the wall bracket is level. If not, loosen your screws, adjust the bracket,
and retighten.

#4. Attaching the Head/Bracket Assembly to the Wall Plate

Items needed:

hex bit driver (Supplied)

Torx security screw bit, small (Supplied)
4 Torx security screws (Supplied)
Kiosk Head/Bracket assembly (Supplied)
Wall mount (Supplied)

Part A: Attaching the Head/Bracket Assembly to the Wall Bracket

1. (This may require two people) Insert the Head/Bracket Assembly inside of the Wall mount so
that the security screw holes are aligned.
2. Place the 3 security screws into the screw holes and tighten the screws with the security screw
bit and Hex bit driver.
3. Plug your power cord into an appropriate outlet.

Your kiosk is ready for use.
