It gives students shorter time to research for their assignments and

projects thus it enhances students academic performance. It helps to learn to

organize complex information, recognize patterns, draw inferences, communicate
findings, and learn better organizational and problem-solving skills.5
Technology has an effect to the society and its surroundings in a number
of ways. In many societies, technology in the development to an advanced
economy (including today's global economy). Many technological processes
produce pollution, and deplete natural resources, to the detriment of
the Earth and its environment. Various implementations of technology influence
the values of a society and new technology often raises new ethical questions.

Statement of the Problem

This study aimed to describe and analyze the effects of technology in
academic performance of the students of CSIL.
The researchers sought to answer the following questions:
1. What are the effects of the technology?
2. What can happen to the students academic performance when they give more
attention to the technology?
3. What is the least competency of the students?
4. What can technology enable for students to become?
5. What are the standards of technology for students?
Hypothesis
1. There are positive and negative effects. The effects are change in student and
teacher

roles,

increased

motivation

and

self

esteem,

technical

skills,

accomplishment of more complex tasks, more collaboration with peers,

increased use of outside resources, improved design skills, and attention to
audience. Addictiveness to the Internet and Gadgets may change the persons
attitude, changes the academic performances of a student, obsess them, make
them become obese, increase their laziness, lack of sleep, diminishing personal
communication, and/or it might also be a distraction in everyday lives. But
technology also makes researching easier, helps save time of an individual,
and/or increases the socialization of people.
2. They will get lower grades because of they dont give attention to their studies
and only focus to technology.

3. The least competency of students is to understand a given work which needs

creativity, to organize ideas and to develop their skills, to use appropriate
technology, to join extra-curriculars which involves sports, quiz bees and other
activities, to create own ideas and opinions, and other curriculums of the school.
4. It can enable the students to be capable information technology users,
information seekers, analyzers, evaluators, problem solvers and decision
makers, creative and
effective users of productivity tools, communicators, collaborators, publishers,
producers, and informed, responsible, and contributing citizens.
6. The technology standards for students are divided into six categories. These
categories provide a framework for linking performance indicators within the
profiles for technology literate students. The six standards are basic operations
and concepts, social, ethical and human issues, technology productivity tools,
technology communication tools, technology research tools, technology problemsolving and decision-making tools.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This will provide a small brief description on the significance of the
performance of High School students.
To Teachers. To let them encounter the different factors that affect
students performance.
To Students. To guide them in which research tool to use in a highly
Recommended Performance.
To the incoming Researchers. For a guide and additional reference in
the future.
To the Researchers. To be prepared to the next step of Life, the college
life and to determine different performances of other students.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY

This study was determined to identify the effects of technology in
academic performance of high school students. The subjects of the study are the
students who are influenced by the technology, and the teachers who are
determining the academic performance of students.
The researchers gave questionnaires to Grade 7 students in CSIL to
prove the effects of technology in academic performance, and to know their
reaction about the effects of technology.
This study was conducted to prove that the technology affects the
students academic performance. Hence, the answered questionnaires of the
students prove that the effects of technology affect the students academic
performance.
