Problems:
1. The area of a circle circumscribing about an equilateral triangle
is 254.47 sq.m. What is the area of the triangle?
2. The distance between centers of the 3 circles which are
mutually tangent to each other externally are 22, 25, 27 cm. Find
the area of the smallest circle.
3. Determine the value of the angle theta if D is midway between
A and B

17. A swimming pool is shaped from 2 intersecting circles 9m in

radius with their centers 9m apart. Determine the area common
to the two circles.
18. Find the area of the regular six-pointed star inscribed in a circle
of radius 20cm.
19. Two circles as shown below are tangent to each other at point
C. If AB = 9cm and DE = FG = 5cm, find the area of the shaded
region.

4. Three (3) circles centered at A, B and C are tangent to each other

and line l; they are placed as shown. Let the radius of circles A be
4cm, of B be 6cm and of C be x cm. Determine the value of x.
20. Find the volume of the cone to be constructed from a sector
having a diameter of 72cm and a central angle of 210.
21. A buoy is in the shape of a cone of height 2m and a top base
diameter of 120cm. If the depth submerged portion is 1.5m,
determine the volume of the submerged portion.
Situation:
A closed conical vessel has a base radius of 2m and is 6m high.
When in upright position, the depth of water in the vessel is 3m.
22. What is the volume of water?
23. If the vessel is held in inverted position, how deep is the water?
5. A strip of 640m2 is sold from a triangular field whose sides are
96m, 72m, and 80m. The strip is of uniform width h and has one
of its sides parallel to the longest side of the field. Find the width
of the strip.
Situation:
A triangle has sides 10m, 13m and15m.
6. Find the area of the triangle
7. Find the radius of the inscribed circle
8. Find the radius of the circumscribing circle
9. Determine the distance of the intersection of the medians from
the vertex having the smallest angle
10. Determine the distance of the intersection of the angle
bisectors from the vertex having the greatest angle
Situation:
The number of diagonals in a regular polygon is 90 and the side is

and DEF. Point E is midway between A
and C and points D and F are on the
circle. If AB is 12m, find DE.

24. A mixture compound from equal parts of two liquid, one white
and the other black, was placed in a hemispherical bowl. The total
depth of two liquids is 3cm. After standing for a short time, the
mixture separated the white settling below the black. If the
thickness of the segment of the black liquid is 1cm, find the radius
of the bowl

The altitude of the 1st segment is 6cm. What is the ratio of the area
of the second segment to that of the first?
26. A 523.6 cm3 solid spherical steel ball was melted and remolded
into a hollow steel ball so that the hollow diameter is equal to the
diameter of the original steel ball. Find the thickness of the hollow
steel ball.
