Procedure
T o introduce the topic T discusses the meaning of
the unit title Body building (a programme: E
regular physical exercises designed to make your
muscles bigger and stronger). T drills the
pronunciation of building and asks students if they
have seen or been to a body building contest. T
elicits what they think the unit is going to be about
(words and activities related to sports and physical
activities).
Then T tells Ss to open their books, and explains
the task. In pairs, students match the parts of the
body with the words. While Ss do this, T monitors,
Then T checks the answers.
Key: arm (k) back (j) chest (l) ear (d) eye (b) face
(e) finger (o) foot (q) hand (n) head (a) leg
(p) mouth (f) neck (g) nose (c) shoulder (i)
stomach (m) toe (r) tooth (h)
After T checks the answers, then T plays the CD for
students to listen and repeat. T drills the
pronunciation of stomach and shoulder. T points
out to students that the plural is sometimes
formed by changing the vowel sound of the
singular word: toot/teeth, man/men,
woman/women, goose/geese, etc.
T instructs Ss to do exercise 2, where they have to
complete the sentences with parts of the body.
While Ss do this individually, T monitors and helps.

the class to say the correct body part.

T points out the second part of the unit; BASIC
