The following table shows the number of motor registration and the sale
of Gorkha Motor Tyres by a whole sale dealer in Kathmandu for the term
of 5 years.
i.
Estimate the sale of tyres when expectd motor registration in
next year is 90,000.
ii.
Also Claculate correlation coefficient and interpret. [ans:
159852, r = 0.85]
Following informations given below are relate with the ages of husband
(x) and wife (y) for married couples living together in a sample survey.
Calculate the coefficient of correlation between age of husband and that
of his wife; test the significance of calculated r.
N = f = 72, fx = 3560, fx2 = 196800, fy = 3260, fy2 = 168400 and fxy
= 172000
[Ans: r = 0.52, significant]
If the sum of the squares of the difference between two ranks is 288 and
the number of pairs of observation (n) is 7, find the coefficient of of Rank
correlation. Also give your opinion whether there is any agreement
between orders of two ranks. [Ans: - 4.14, no aggrements]
Find the maximal and minimal value of z = 2x + 3y subject to the following
constraints:
Solution:
Here we have,
Maximize z = 3x + 4y and constraints are:
x + 2y 10(i)
2x + y 14..(ii)
x 0, y
now,
From inequality (i)
Corresponding equation of this inequality is x + 2y = 10.
When, x = 0; y = 5
when, y = 0; x = 10
Therefore, it passes through (0, 5) and (10, 0).
Put x = 0 and y = 0 in given inequality x + 2y 10, we get,
0 + 0 10
0 10 (true)
Hence the line convex to the origin.
From inequality (ii)
Corresponding equation of this inequality is 2x + y =14.
When, x = 0; y = 14
when, y = 0; x = 7
Therefore, it passes through (0, 14) and (7, 0).
Put x = 0 and y = 0 in given inequality 2x + y 14, we get,
0 + 0 14
0 14 (true)
Max. z = 2x + 3y
Z=0+0=0
Z = 2 7 + 3 0 = 14
Z = 2 6 + 3 2 = 18 (max.)
Z = 2 0 + 3 5 = 15
