Noyce Mathematics Education Teaching Scholars at North Carolina State University

NCCTM CONFERENCE AND SOCIAL

NCTM NATIONAL CONFERENCE

The NCTM conference will be held April
15 18, 2015 in Boston, MA. Michelle
and Emily are presenting a session on
Saturday, April 18th, entitled Engaging,
High-level Mathematics Tasks Aligned
with the Common Core. We would
welcome teacher involvement with our
session similar to how several joined us
at NCCTM.

Several of our scholars

attended the North Carolina
Council of Teachers of
Mathematics on Oct. 29 31
this year. We enjoyed a
social lunch together on the
30th, where scholars shared
notes and experiences.
Three pre-service scholars
(Matthew, Alice and Ethan) and
four in-service scholars (Will,
Jenna, Latoya and Ashley) did
an awesome job presenting
tasks at our workshop session:
Engaging High Level Tasks.

For members of cohorts 1-4 who will be

teaching in Spring 2015, we have extra
professional development funds that can
support attendance and participation at
NCTM. If you are interested in
obtaining these funds to attend NCTM
in Boston, please tell us ASAP.

STAR PROGRAM
The STAR program is a paid research experience program for aspiring K-12 STEM teachers
(preservice), which helps bring better teaching and learning practices into the classroom through
