Add Site Pages

In this lesson we will add pages to our Google Site. Each of
these pages will represent a content area to be taught in the
classroom. The content areas include math, science, social
studies and language arts. If you are departmentalized, your
pages could be Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry. Each page
will represent the main category of the content.

A create page will display. Let's provide a name for this page.

Click on the add page icon.

I'll name my page Math. The URL for this page will be added
to the main site.

Below the name are options to select a page template and

where the page will appear in the menu. Leave these options
alone.

Click the create button.

The math page will be created and placed into edit mode
automatically.

I'll enter some basic information about the page.

When You're done, click the save button.

The page will be saved and a menu item for the page will be
created at the top level with the home page.

Repeat the previous steps to create pages for the other content
areas. In my example, the Language Arts page appears first in
the menu. I would like math to be first and language arts last.
To move menu items, we need to edit the site layout.
Pages are automatically placed alphabetically in the Sidebar.

Click on the Page actions menu.

Select Edit site layout from the options.

You should see the Edit site layout title at the top of the page.

Move your mouse over the Sidebar and an information box

should appear that reads Edit sidebar item. Click once
anywhere in the sidebar.

A navigation configuration box will display. Remove the check

mark from Automatically organize my navigation.

A navigation configuration box will display. Click the Add

Page button to add one of your pages to the navigation.

A list of the pages on your site will display.

Click on the Home page and click the OK button.

The Home page will be added to the navigation. Repeat the

process with all the other pages.

I've added all the other pages to my custom navigation.

Language Arts is still below the Home page.

10

I'll click once on Language arts and click the down arrow once
to move it down one location.

I'll click the down arrow two more times to place Language
Arts at the bottom.

11

Use the same steps to position page menu items as needed.

Click the OK button when you're finished.

12

The Sidebar menu items will be updated.

Click the close button. Changes are automatically saved.
