Formulate the element stiffeness matrix for a beam element with two nodes of length L and Young's modulus E. (25 marks) 2- A deck beam of 12 m width is supported by a centre girder. The beam is loaded by 24 KN/m over its half width and 24 KN at the midpoint of the other half. Assuming that the deck beam is rigidly clamped by frame brackets at both ends and EI is constant. Get the following: (40 marks) (a) Generate the structural stiffens matrix [k] and applied load vector. (b) Determine the structural displacements. (c) Determine the member end forces and support reactions, (d) Sketch the shear force and bending moment diagrams. 3- A deck girder supports the second deck of a ship, the breadth supported being 8 m. The tween deck height is 3 m and cargo is stowed on the the deck. The girder is fixed at its end and is 24 m long, being supported by pillars 8 m from each end. Calculate the maximum cargo density which is permissible if the maximum strees at any point in the girder is not to exceed 16X10° ton/m”. the section modulus of the deck is 1.56 x10° m’.
