General Purpose : To inform


Specific Purpose : To inform the audience about three types of eating
disorders
Central Idea : The three types of eating disorders are Anorexia Nervosa,
Bulimia
Nervosa, and Binge Eating Disorder

INTRODUCTION
I. Eating disorder is an illness that causes critical confusion to your
everyday diet that leads a part of the body to stop functioning
correctly
II. Most people of any age suffer from the various types of eating
disorders
III. Eating disorders can cause long term physical and emotional health
issue which could be fatal
IV. Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder are the
examples of eating disorder ]

BODY
I. The first type of eating disorder is Anorexia Nervosa
A. Anorexia Nervosa is categorized by weight loss due to
excessive dieting followed by exercise to be extremely
thin
1. They have the feeling fear of gaining weight
eventhough they are infact below normal weight
2. They restrict their eating to the point of starvation
3. They tend to be controlling and a perfectionist
who strives to pleased other people
B. It may bring effect to their development
1. Their bones lose density becomes dry and easily
fracture
2. Their muscles become weak and lose strength
which can lead to walking dificulties
3. Their skin becomes dry and hair tends to fall out

II. The second type of eating disorder is Bulimia Nervosa


A. Bulimia Nervosa is categorized by weight gain due to
excessive overeating followed by purging to
compensate for the overeating
1. They have the feeling of fear of gaining weight but
still have the craving for food
2. They will hide food from themselves to make sure
they do not eat it
3. They tend to struggle the battle between the
desire to lose weight and the overwhelming need
to binge eating
B. It may bring effects to their body system

1. Their heart could beat irregularly which could lead


from dangerous clots to stroke
2. Their intestines could become swollen from
frequent vomiting
3. Their teeth can become decayed because of the
stomach acids in the mouth
III. The third type of eating disorder is Binge Eating Disorder
A. Binge Eating Disorder is categorized by extreme weight
gain due to regular episodes of overeating followed by
the feeling of loss control about eating
1. They have the feelings of shame and guilty due to
the big appetite that they could eat large amount
of food quickly
2. They eat far too much even when they are not
hungry but eat very little in front if others
3. They tend to hurt themselves for their lack of selfcontrol since they worry about what the
compulsive eating will do to their bodies
B. It may bring effect to their psychological life
1. They have trouble handling emotions which will
make them avoid from being social
2. They have to deal with their mood swings which
will cause obesity due to uncontrollable large
food consumed
3. They will struggle with anxiety, depression and
loneliness which can contribute to continuous
style of binge eating

CONCLUSION

Eating disorders have been a very serious issue and need to be


addressed

Eating disorder is due to insufficient or excessive food intake


which

will lead to Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge


Eating

We should prevent and cure eating disorder at early age to have


a
balanced diet and live a healthy lifestyle
