ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
History of all great works is to witness that
no great work was ever done without either
the active or passive support of a person's
surroundings and one's close quarters. Thus it
is not hard to conclude how active assistance
from seniors could positively impact the
execution of a project. I am highly thankful to

INTRODUCTION
Every successive generation seems to have more and more
opportunities and options, but we as parents are not always aware of the
many varied careers that seem to be constantly mushrooming. As a
result, even though we would like to give our child the best advice, we
are unable to do so due to our own limited knowledge.
The concept of a 'career' has developed from being a
single, paid job to the new concept of a continuous
process of learning and development that includes all
your paid and unpaid work, learning and life roles
Career development is a unique exercise for each of
us because we are all individuals and therefore affected
by our individual circumstances, life experience and
needs during the different stages of our lives.
Put simply, career planning is a practical method of
deciding what to do with your life. Its a creative process
to help you picture your ideal type of work. Its about
determining what your interests, talents and skills are,
deciding whats most important to you, and choosing a
direction that will be compatible with what you love to do
most. Career planning helps you make effective decisions
when choosing a career or changing careers. Learning
how to career plan is a life-long skill you carry with you
as you move in and out of the labour market.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE
The primary goal of our project is to provide support to students for
their career planning.
Consequently the focus of my investigation is to find out the popularity
and availability of various career oppertunities after various standards.
Objectives:
The study was conducted with the following objectives:
1i) To estimate the popularity of various career opertunities.
1ii) To estimate the availability of various career opertunities.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
For this study, the survey was conducted in the entire city of
Bareilly & Pilibhit covering all the categories including students, of all
standards.
The sample was randomly selected from Bareilly and Pilibhit
districts and respondents were in the age group of 14 to 30+ years. The
responses of the respondents were recorded on a pre-coded structure
questionnaire by the part-time casual interviewers trained for this
purpose. The data in the coded form were collected from the
interviewers compiled and analysed While selecting the respondents due
care was taken to give proper representation to female respondents as
well as different age groups & occupational categories.
Research Design
As the problem is very well defend and clear, a conclusive
research design was used moreover the conclusion was to be drawn on
the basis of generalised result, so the descriptive design was selected for
the purpose of collecting analysing and interpreting the data obtained,
on some specific points.
A plan of what data to gather, from whom, how and when to
collect the data, and how to analyze the data obtained.
This is a systematic plan to coordinate archaeological research to
ensure the efficient use of resources and to guide the research according
to scientific methods.
Also known as a market research briefing, this is a basic plan
which guides the data collection and analysis phases of the research
project. It acts as a framework which details the type of information to
be collected, the data sources and the data collection procedure.
Thus Research design can be thought of as the structure of
research -- it is the "glue" that holds all of the elements in a research
project together.
Primary Data
Data collected specifically for a research project Collect when
secondary data are

can be collected through a number of different methods sometimes more
than one method can apply to a single problem
Primary Data Sources
Primary data collection is necessary when a researcher cannot find the
data needed in secondary sources. Market researchers are interested in
primary
data
about
demographic/socioeconomic
attitudes/opinions/interests,
awareness/
characteristics,
knowledge,
intentions,
Secondary data
In research, Secondary data is collected and possibly processed by
people other than the researcher in question. Common sources of
secondary data for social science include censuses, large surveys, and
organizational records. In sociology primary data is data you have
collected yourself and secondary data is data you have gathered from
primary sources to create new research. In terms of historical research,
these two terms have different meanings. A primary source is a book or
set of archival records. A secondary source is a summary of a book or
set of records.
In order to use secondary data three steps must be completed:
1. locate the data
2. evaluate the data
3. verify the data
Locating the data can be easily done with the advancements of
searching sources online. However, people need to be aware of the
details when searching online since pages can be out of date or poorly
put together. Therefore, use caution and pay attention to whether it is a
reliable data source online and check when the last update was. To
evaluate the data a researcher must carefully examine the secondary
data they are considering to ensure that it meets their needs and purpose
of study. The person must look at the population and what the sample
strategy and type were. It is also important to look at when the data was
collected, how it was collected, how it was coded and edited, along with
the operational definitions of measures that were used. Finally, the data
must be verified to ensure good quality material to be used in new
research.
Secondary Data
Below is the valuable data and facts/figure regarding career counseling.
The data was collected from various web sites and I hope would be of
prime interest for students looking to shape their career.
When a child completes his tenth standard, it is often time for him to
choose certain streams for which he has an aptitude towards, or which
he is interested in.
Decisions
However, when you think about it, if the choice is left up entirely to
your child, he will most certainly be unaware of all that is out there, and
as a result may not make the right decision. For example, your child
may wonder if he should do arts, but then may feel that he has got such
a high percentage in his boards, that he can gain admission in science.
So why should he do arts? In addition, after science he can do medicine,
engineering, architecture etc. What can he do after arts? And so
thinking, he makes a decision. Whether or not this was the right
decision, only time can tell. But one thing is for sure - he didn't base his
decision on the right parameters.
Your child's career is something that will stay with him through his life.
Although numerous people do change their careers, it would be best if
Information
It always helps to see a career counselor, just so your child knows what
the choices are. Alternatively, you could speak to various friends and
relatives to get an idea of the options available, and then discuss them
with your child, or let your child speak with them as well.
One of the best ways to lay out the options for your child, would be to
start at the level of the streams available, like science, and narrow it
down and outline options, with names of Companies your child can
work for. So if your child does biology, he can go in for medicine after
the 12th, or law, and perhaps specialize in medical law, or
biotechnology The options are endless, and letting your child be
aware of the options available at the outset will help him make the
choice, instead of the other way around, where he chooses from what he
knows, and then suddenly finds that there are so many other things he
could have done - if only he knew.
For 10th class students: after completion of your board exams every
students have to choose their stream whether among these: arts,
commerce and science apart it many private central board of secondary
education CBSE affiliated schools has now started new courses for the
students just after 10th class. These courses include computer science,
electronic science and many other specific technical courses. So if one
wants to build his or her career right from you board examination, now
you have the better options.
For 12th class students: now after completion of your 12th class
exams, it is a time for bachelor degree courses. Various university offer
various bachelor degree programs like B.A, B.Com, B.SC, BCA,
B.Tech, BBA, and various other hon. Courses also in specific stream
like English, political science etc.
If you are doing just a bachelor degree from any university then also
dont forget to have the knowledge of basic computer course as it has
now become the requirement of each organization and company. Every
student wants to get good marks and take admission in a regular college
but it is not possible in every student cases. So there are other options
available for the students like correspondence courses by the various
universities.
The courses structure of regular college course and correspondence
course is almost same. So dont worry about the course. Many students
deliberately choose correspondence course as they also want to do some
other technical course simultaneously. It seems a very good idea which
is not possible in regular course. So dont get depress if you are fails to
get the admission in a regular college. Judge and ask yourself what you
want to do, take the guidance from the seniors and choose the right way
for your career.
.
A Career
(i) I know what I want to do
If you know what you want to do, then it is sensible to explore ways of
entering that career or checking that it really is the right thing for you
before you enter your final year. Go along to the Advisory and
Counselling Centre in Marsh Building to talk to one of the Careers
Team.
(ii) I want a career but I don't know what
If you are in this position then again it is important that you do as much
as you can to gain direction before you enter the final year. Talk to one
of the Careers Advisers to find out how to go about this. You might be
advised to have a guidance interview with a Careers Adviser, or use one
of the best careers guidance programmes available on the internet- and
its free. Prospects Planner helps you clarify your ideas. You answer
some questions about your skills and what you want from a job and
Prospects Planner suggests what might suit you. You don't have to
explore all the suggestions in one go. Your responses are saved between
visits and you can return to Prospects Planner as many times as you like.
The Careers Adviser might use a Psychometric Test to work out your
personal strengths and areas that you would be best to investigate.
Self-assessment
It is important that you dont just start applying frantically for the first
graduate jobs you see. Take a step back and begin by evaluating
yourself and your skills are you ready and sufficiently equipped to
enter the job market? What do you have to offer future employers? And
ultimately, what kind of graduate job will send you home satisfied?
Things to consider about yourself
LIMITATIONS
The sample choose on the basis of convenience & judgement
sampling might not have been the true representative of the universe.
Though every care has been taken to make it most representative.
The respondents might not have disclosed their income exactly due
to multiple of reasons and it might have led to an inexact
interpretation.
Some respondent (Specially low educated) had not filled the
questionnaire themselves which may cause a deviation in the
results .
The possibility of biasing factor and impact of opinion leader could
not be eliminated as the respondents were human being.
Due to lack of awareness, sometimes people guess to respond to
some particular question, this could also lead to errata.
FIELD WORK
The respondents were given questionnaire either by contacting
personally or by making calls at homes so as to cover all classes of
respondent.

SALIENT FINDINGS
1
People are not well aware that our country has made a good
progress in field of education and it has managed to emerge as an
educational hub.
When hunting for a job, people rank money at the first place
while job satisfaction and prestige were also important to them.
Internet is ruling the roost here too when people think about
searching a job. While Placement agencies is also a great resource.
Suggestions
Conclusion :Study of the above survey and analysis of the secondary data has
compelled me to go for the following conclusion :Parents play a vital role in carerr choice of their children. it
sometimes shows implies unnecessary interference. I have realized that
childrens often go for the same careerr as of their mates. People
generally associate Money, Luxury and majestic life style with foreign
countries.
People are yet to realize that our country is emerging as an
educational hub.High quality education linked with Convent schools
naturally attract the people. It is also easy to see that Family background
play a leading role on a child's deucation. Impact of technology on the
education is quite visible.
Job satisfaction is not as important as money when people look for
a job.People think that command over English is most important, where
proficiency in foreign languages and computer knowledge are also
decisive. Primary education in our country is yet to pass through an age
of revolution. This is also noteworthy that for higher education, the
majority is fully dependent on the educational loan. Thereby it is very
unfortunate to see that getting an educational is realised as extremely
difficult task. Open universities are not prestigious in public. While
people think that Politics is responsible for non performing of some
universities.
Internet has emerged as a very good source for job search
,Placement agencies are also no less popular for this purpose. People
hasare naturally against any hike in educational fees.
As for as the most favorite career choice is concerned ,Aviation is the
leader while administrative services, engg., medical were also among
popular career choices.
