Training Program for Hostel Wardens

Program Overview

The training program for hostel wardens has been prepared after taking account of their
formal duties (as prescribed in job description) and practical day to day activities. The hostel
wardens are normally drawn from amongst permanent faculty members and can belong to a
variety of academic disciplines. No formal training is imparted to Hostel warden to carry out
their duties. The training course has been designed to introduce the wardens to essential
concepts and equip them with the requisite skills to manage their everyday functions.

Approach

The training program introduces the wardens to essential concepts in management, leadership
and organizational behaviour. These participants will employ these concepts as frameworks
to conceptualize their individual functions. Building on this understanding, the participants
are introduced to a variety of tools to manage their own functions that includes
communication, Negotiation and conflict resolution, emotional intelligent and Counselling.

Methodology

The training program employs a variety of methods to achieve the two interrelated goals of
allowing the participants to understand and grasp the conceptual frameworks and enabling
them to use these concepts to appreciate their own functions. The training program consists
of lectures, interactive sessions, case studies, role playing exercises and reflections on
personal experiences of the participants.
