S1: Seiri- SORT

Create and maintain operations that

are free from anything that is not needed. Only have in the
area whats needed to achieve the task.
Where?
Floors, passageways

Lockers and
cupboards

What?
Materials, parts, work
in progress
Tools and measuring
equipment

Drawers, shelves,tables

Parts and samples

Around pillars, under stairs

Documents, papers

Walls and information panels

Old stuff, nonrelevant stuff

Keep whats needed - Throw out the rest!

S1: Seiri- SORT

If in doubt, throw it out !

during the sort phase of 5S.
Listed on the red tagged item;
Item classification
Item ID and quantity
Reason for red tagging
Work section
Date

S2: Seiton Set in order

Organise whats left so as to minimize wasted motion (a place for
everything in its place). Make it well marked out and obvious to all.

A Place for everything and everything in its place!

S2: Seiton Set in order

VISUAL SYSTEM
A group of visual devices designed to share
information at a glance
Types:
1. Visual indicator. Tells only, ex: signboard
2. Visual signal. Grab attention ex: Andon light
3. Visual control. Limits behaviour ex: machines
position line
4. Guarantee. Allows correct response only ex:
automatic pump shut off

cleaning supplies
Regularly check the condition of equipment.
Provide training to the team, so they can
recognize minor changes in sound, smell,
vibration, temperature etc.
Create inspection check sheet for machinery

Who has taken equipment and when they will return it
