As a father I have seen ______ grow into the young man he has become and witnessed his triumphs,

failures and endured his seemingly boundless curiosity and questions regarding how everything he
encounters works. He has a keen intellect and his not assuming attitude allows him to pursue a variety
of interesting subjects. As a Tenderfoot he made the declaration that he was going to try to get every
merit badge the Scout program had to offer before he was an Eagle Scout. This was a bit daunting goal
but characteristic of Aarons attitude and demeanor. He chose not to look at the difficulty of the task
and dismiss the effort but to embrace the challenges and pursue the task he thought was worth
achieving. Four years later and around 80 merit badges left to go he still has that enthusiasm about the
Scouting program and on the cusp of becoming an Eagle Scout will manage to achieve one of his goals
and learned a life lesson that sometimes it is not the destination but path you set forth that makes the
effort worthwhile.
As a Tiger Scout he was only one of 18 enthusiastic orange shirted boys working through the seemingly
endless activities under the watchful gaze of the parents in the back of the room. As the years went by
and he transitioned into the Cub Scouts and survived the Derby Races went from Bear to Wolf and
finally Webelos I never saw his fondness for scouting waiver. Even in his elder years in the scouting
program I have never heard him say can we skip scouts tonight. The program has been a foundation
of moral and skill and civility resources typified by his upbringing and our desire as parents to provide
Aaron with the guidance, life examples and social tools to allow him to make good decisions to ease and
give him the perspective he will find useful during the transitions and trials he will experience in his
lifetime.
Does _______have his faults-yes. I assert that the path to Eagle is not one of perfection but
development and achievement which Aaron has accomplished demonstratively. Aaron during the
course of his journey to the highest rank achievable in the Scouting program as faltered, excelled and
sometimes failed to meet the highest standard depicted by the Scouting Oath, Law and Motto but the
experience and the guidance they provide have been instilled and incorporated into his life perspective
and provides some of the best advise one could offer a young man beginning his life and moving into
adulthood.
As a parent, father, admirer and Troop leader hardily endorse my recommendation for _____, my son
for the honorable rank of Eagle Scout. I hope the committee will agree the Aaron has proven worthy of
the consideration to join the many that have gone before and after him reaching the final destination of
a long and eventful journey to becoming an Eagle Scout.
