Mnemonics

Introduction:
Mnemonics is a science and art which acts as
an aid in memorizing every sort of
information. These are mainly verbal tools; such as a
very short poem or a special word used to help a
person remember something—but may be visual,
kinesthetic or auditory.
Mnemonics rely on associations between easy-to-
remember constructs which can be related back to
the data that is to be remembered. This is based on
the principle that the human mind much more easily
remembers spatial, personal, surprising or humorous
or otherwise meaningful information than arbitrary
sequences.
Mnemonics

Evolution:
The word mnemonic is derived from the Ancient Greek word
mnemonikos ("of memory") and is related to Mnemosyne
("remembrance"), the name of the goddess of memory in
Greek mythology.
It is said that, mnemonics were first used by Greeks to
memorize long information like calendars, numbers, long lists
of names, etc.
In Modern era it is applicable in all spheres of life. The best
example is www.medicalmnemonics.com where a forum of
doctors and experts of medical field, try to make mnemonic
codes, to memorise all sort of biological names.
