S outh Africa’s premier
builder of catamarans, Robertson
& Caine, has been building cats
for The Moorings and the Leopard
line for nearly two decades. The
U.S. Sailboat Show in Annapolis last
October.
The 38 was designed by Morrelli
& Melvin to be the little sister to the
Leopard 40 and 46. The new design

main traveler runs across the hard
top with the control lines also eas-
ily accessible to the person at the
helm.
The 38 has a three-cabin own-
er’s plan in which the master suite
takes up the entire starboard hull.
This space can be closed off for
privacy with a sliding door. The port
hull has two double cabins that
share a central head and shower.
An optional four-cabin version has
two double cabins in each hull.
The saloon offers a huge U-shaped
dinette forward that stretches the
width of the cabin. The small gal-
ley to port is also U-shaped and has
a good amount of counter space, Leopard 38
