APPLICATION FOR THE BILL BERNBACH DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP
PROGRAM

The Bill Bernbach Diversity Scholarship Fund was established in April of 1998 by DDB
Worldwide to recognize excellence in creative disciplines. Five talented diverse students
are awarded $5,000 each every year. The scholarships are awarded to students based
on outstanding creative talent as well as financial need. The scholarship program is
funded by DDB Worldwide Communications Group Inc, its employees, its holding
company Omnicom, and outside donors. It is administered by AAAA Foundation, Inc., a
charitable institution founded and operated in collaboration with the American
Association of Advertising Agencies.

Students are eligible to be considered for The Bill Bernbach Diversity Scholarship
Program if they:

• Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian Pacific Islander


American** or Hispanic American
• Are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States
• Are full-time student at one of the following AAAA participating portfolio schools:
o The Art Center College of Design
o The Creative Circus
o The Miami Ad School
o The Portfolio Center
o The University of Texas at Austin
o The VCU Brandcenter
• Demonstrate financial need
• Show exceptional creative talent and promise

All applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

*American Indian/Alaska Native Requirements: American Indian/Alaska Natives will be asked to


provide proof of tribal enrollment or certificate of descent from a state or federally recognized
tribe if selected as a scholarship candidate.

**Asian Pacific Islander American include persons having origins from Asia and/or Pacific
Islands. Asian includes persons having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East,
Southeast Asia, or the Indian subcontinent. Pacific Islander includes persons having in any of the
original peoples of Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, or other Pacific Islands. Citizens of the republic of the
Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau are eligible.

ESSAY

To demonstrate financial need, you must submit a one-page essay (typed, double
spaced, with one inch margins) explaining your financial situation and how the
scholarship will benefit you.

Also, be sure to include copies of paperwork submitted for federal student loans, or the
equivalent.

At DDB, we believe that creativity is the most powerful force in business. We believe in
the power of ideas to change minds, touch hearts and build brands. When submitting
your work, also keep in mind that we believe in bringing ideas to life in all kinds of media
including “media we invent”.

All work should be sent in a single PDF document under 8MB.

KEEP IN MIND

Scholarships will be awarded in December 2008.

Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic and creative progress as determined by


the school.
